Itinerary
Meet your guide and small group in central Moab and hop aboard your 4WD vehicle for the 30-mile (48-kilometer) drive to Canyonlands National Park. Follow a portion of the 25-mile (40-kilometer) White Rim Road loop, which provides desert views of this red-rock wilderness.
Entering Canyonlands (admission fee own expense), stop to view the White Rim formation, an expansive rock terrace located 1,000 feet (300 meters) above the mighty Colorado and Green rivers and situated about the same distance below the Island in the Sky mesa. Search the rocky ledges for big horn sheep among piñon and juniper forests.
Your guide offers the option to take several short but moderately challenging hikes just beneath the White Rim Sandstone level. You can scramble to caverns and more vista points overlooking the Colorado River or take in the landscape while you relax near the vehicle.
The 4WD tour of Canyonlands includes a stop for a delicious buffet-style picnic lunch accompanied by cold water and lemonade. Visit the not-to-be-missed sights of Gooseneck overlook, Lathrop Canyon, Musselman Arch and the Shafer Trail before your memorable day trip ends back in Moab.

Went with our tour guide Charolette to Canyonlands West Rim 4x4 experience. She has over 8 years of experience in The Canyonalnds park. We had a jeep rental but decided to take this guided tour. She took us to places we would not find on our own. She was an expert driver and we felt very safe with her especially on the sullivan trail switchback road!

Cody was our tour guide. He was absolutely wonderful. If I could’ve given 10 stars I would’ve. It is a long day, but it was great and we got to see so much of the canyonlands. Had a wonderful lunch included. EXCELLENT!!!

It was like driving through the Grand Canyon! Spectacular views and Blaine's history lesson was fantastic! We highly recommend taking this trip. Well worth the time!

Cole was an amazing driver for us. I am afraid of heights and he did a wonderful job. Highly recommend going on the white rim trail. Got to see some parts of the park that others don't get to see.

Our guide, Blane, gave us a wonderful 4WD tour of places far off the main road in Canyonlands, and even whipped up a fresh chicken salad wrap lunch down in a secluded canyon near the Colorado River.

Dave the guide was super professional and fun..a great combo! Great geology info and a perfect ratio of adventure and safety!!

The tour is absolutely recommendable. We had an excellent guide who was very skilled, very good driver. Car Name: Stillwater, Drivers Name we unfortunately forgot (Bud?), had very good knowledge in Geology. It was really a great adventure and made our vacation in Arches/Canyonlands more complete. Lunch was perfect, Tour unforgettable.

This trip itinerary is great and the scenery is fantastic. We moved along the White Rim and descended to river level for a picnic. On the return leg, we went up the Shafer trail to the Canyonland visitor center. Since we finished significantly earlier than expected, our guide added another drive down Canyon Road on the return to Moab to compensate. It was our second Navtec tour out of Moab this week. Our first trip guide was great and we rated him highly. However, our White Rim driver/guide was a huge disappointment. He was a competent driver and somewhat knowledgeable but elected to remain largely silent and not not narrate the tour. He apparently wanted to do several hikes which were not appropriate for the age 70 couples with limitations onboard. It was like a day long ride with a sullen teenager. He seldom stopped for photo ops stating we needed to keep rolling but the White Rim tour actually ended 90 minutes early at the visitor center in Canyonlands. Most of our photos came from a moving vehicle. He would answer questions several times with sarcasm.
It was clear how dependent these tours are on the guide/driver qualities and this one was a huge disappointment for the nearly six hundred dollars + gratuity we spent. This driver needs a major attitude readjustment to shape up or find another line of work. He was a poor representative for NavTec and actually walked away from the group at several stops rather than interacting. We did have a nice time with the friendly couple who was with us on this trip which salvaged the day. If we had had an opportunity to leave the vehicle and go with a more appropriate guide for the trip, we would have done so in a heartbeat. Navtec: hope you address these problems. Your other drivers frequently receive high marks but this one sadly missed the mark.

We enjoyed this full-day tour (White Rim Canyonlands) despite our guides less than enthusiastic attitude. Our guide asked both couples why we chose this trip and what we wanted out of it. He told us very few choose this trip and implied that we didn't do our research. He suggested that there were better tours than the one we chose to take. Our nine hour tour actually was seven and a half hours in length. We arrived at our lunch site at 10:45, 45 minutes ahead of the second group of tourists in a second 4x4 v3 vehicle. During the morning portion of this tour, our guide drove over an hour without speaking a single word. He was quite knowledgeable when asked questions. At lunch, the guide set out our food, but didn't offer us cups for drinks. We noticed the other guide offered the ladies in his group a step stool for getting in and out of the vehicle. Not the case on our tour. Guides can make or break a tour. I tipped our guide much more than he deserved. Perhaps he had other issues on his mind. He was a good driver and got us back safely. It just felt to us as though he couldn't wait to get back to town on a Saturday night. Specifically, this individual needs to point out stuff and provide information as he is driving. He needs to attend to the needs of his passengers by offering to stop for pictures at scenic moments.

This tour was beautiful and very interesting however it should be cut short by about 2 hours. The hikes and views were amazing!!! However the 2 hour drive, (one hour out and one hour back) to have lunch at the Colorado River was not worth it. Plus the entire day you are rocking up and down in a vehicle that has to go over huge big rocks that constantly rocks your body all day long. So this tour should be no more than 6 or 7 hours. Plus I thought we would stop at Dead Horse point but we never made it there. So we drove back to Dead horse point on our own to take photos.

We were two couples in our 70's and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Blaine was an awesome guide. I can't imagine seeing Canyonlands any other way. The vastness of the area is incredible. If you look down on the canyons from above the roads look smooth enough to drive the family car on. Not so! We have many, many pictures and memories from this trip. We have been to the Grand Canyon but much prefer this trip due to less crowds and tours like this one.

From start to finish, this day trip with NAVTEC was truly memorable and outstanding in every way!! The Shafer Road and White Rim Road experiences were breathtaking in both beauty and adventure! Lathrop Canyon washout was phenomenal!! Our guides (Justin and Mick) were professional and friendly, providing some excellent interpretive information and highlights at every turn. Above all, they out our safety as their top priority, which on this road was paramount. Lunch was exceptional for an off-road trip. Having two experienced guides with wonderful personalities and tremendous knowledge of the area, history, and culture was outstanding!! Great trip with great memories!!!

The tour guide was a genus. He knew his stuff and kept us laughing. Thank you Dave!!! I wish husband could have come so we will be back.

Justin was our guide and he made this adventure super memorable. He explained so much and showed us tons of interesting things. The conversations flowed and we literally felt like we were sightseeing with a friend. He never made us feel rushed or on a time crunch. We were out there for 8 full hours and his skills were very impressive. The picnic lunch by the river was really nice and made ya feel special. I highly recommend this. You will see so many sights that you wouldn’t be able to see even if you rented one of the 4x4 jeeps in town.

Great tour. Our guide, David is very knowledgeable and nice guy . Would definitely go again with Navtec!

Our guide Mike was very knowledgeable about the area. He shared stories and information about each part of our tour. He was patient with us as we stopped repeatedly to take pictures. The rim trail was outstandingly beautiful! We appreciated every minute of the tour and would definitely book with them again.

we did the 9 hour tour. I was amazing, we had Chance out tour guide who had a ton of info on the land , geographical periods, environment. He made the trip worth going on. Just a note 9 hours was a bit much of a tour, but worth doing at least once in your life
Shama_P, Oct 2021
Riding in the canyon with experienced driver Mike was awesome. His knowledge and personable demeanor made it more interesting and fun
kristin_r, Jul 2021
Our guide, Dave was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the park, the different layers of rock and also the many movies that had been filmed at the park. A great day.
Philippe_P, Jun 2021
great experience, incredible way to see and experience Canyonlands. You are immersed in the canyon not just observing. It is well worth the money and we highly recommend. Our guide Blaine was knowledgable and did an outstanding job making our day very memorable.
Jennifer_M, Jun 2021
What an amazing tour, we were able to see so much! Blaine was funny, super informative and extremely knowledgeable about all the areas we visited!!! Would definitely recommend!!!
Bradford_K, Apr 2021
Itwas exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to experience being in Canyonlands without actually doing the driving. Guide Chris was great and lunchdelicious.
Deborah_K, Apr 2021
This was an amazing experience! Blaine was a terrific guide, extremely knowledgeable- He was able to answer everyone of our many questions about the area flora and fauna. Highly recommend this White Rim tour!

I'm dreading writing this review but honestly it was a pretty bad experience. Canyonlands was beautiful! Unfortunately, our guide was TERRIBLE. We learned very little about the history of Canyonlands (although, he spent a significant amount of time explaining Potash). He also was obsessed with motorcyles, cars, etc. He spent 9 straight hours talking about every single motorcylce and car he ever owned. Sprinkled in the motorcyle talk was a bunch of talk about the old company he worked for and how terrible it was.
It was a miserable experience.
Gerald_S, Oct 2020
WOW! This was amazing. We had no prior knowledge about Canyonlands National Park. It was an after thought to visit this park. It is amazing, beautiful and vast. I am so happy my husband and I visited this park. Taking the 4x4 tour of the White Rim was a perfect way to get to see this park. We were able to see Musselman Arch, and drive through areas most people do not get to see. This was a full day tour with lunch included. I recommend this tour to all.

This excursion was amazing! Thanks to our awesome guide, Blaine, we were taken to some of the best kept secret photo opportunities.... absolutely beautiful! He made the trip a lot of fun!! Highly recommend

Our guide Phil was great and we had enjoyed a great time and a relatively easy ride, comparing with the second one we took to the Needles the following day.
Karla B, Apr 2018
A very fun trip I hope to repeat. Everything was well taken care of for us.
Al R, Sep 2017
Our guide was great. The White Rim Trail was spectacular. The problem was the vehicle. Three out of four us were six feet tall or taller. The right front seat was stuck in its full back position. So whoever sat behind that seat had minimal legroom. It was quite uncomfortable. Even if the front seat could have been moved four passengers is one too many for a comfortable trip. The. vehicle's air conditioner couldn't cool the vehicle. It was in the high 90s and quite uncomfortable. At the end it was more comfortable to,open the windows.
