Monument tickets are not included. The activity provider will purchase tickets to Pena Park (note: we do not visit the interior rooms of Pena Palace) and Quinta da Regaleira for you in advance. Please have €30 in cash per person ready for reimbursement.
There will be free time for lunch (not inlcuded) at the old town. Options vary from a quick on the go meal (8€), to a menu restaurant (25€).
Sintra has a micro clima, and it is usually colder than Lisbon. Please bring appropriate clothing.
Bring comfortable shoes. This tour involves plenty of walking. We will be walking up and down hills, including stairs.

Fantastic tour of Sintra

Our tour guide, Rute, was amazing! As we were the only two participants on the tour that day we had a private tour of the sites. Our guide thoroughly explained the history of each location and access to the sites was prearranged so we didn’t have to worry about anything. Rute made sure that we made the best use of the time we had at each location. This was our favourite day of our entire vacation.

Highlight of Vacation

The tour was as advertised and the sites were awe inspiring. We couldn't have asked for a better guide! Rute was a wealth of information about not only the sites we visited but all along the way to and from the sites. She made a point to adjust the pace so the group could easily stay together and interacted with everyone in the group individually throughout the day. It was like being guided by a friend. Highly Recommend this tour but be prepared for a lot of uphill walking!

Best tour in Portugal

This was an absolutely wonderful tour. Our guide brought the area to life with interesting explanations and a good sense of humor. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get some historical background of the area and enjoy a mix of nature, history and monuments along the way. This was my favorite tour in Portugal so far.

A memorable day at Pena Palace and Reguleira

The excursion exceeded expectations. Small group in a minivans much preferred to being in a large bus. Our guide, Rute, was extremely knowledgeable. Travelling to Pena Palace through the gardens was quite memorable. Going down into the "initiation well" at Reguleira was quite the experience!

An incredible day of natural wonders…

The Pena Palace and nearby Regaleira are incredible structures but walking through the parks and follies in the mists of Sintra is magical. It is nature at her best with the added bonus of a wonderful guide who will ensure you are okay on the steep paths and that you learn the stories behind both properties. Another benefit is that Rui's West Vagabond tours park halfway up the mountain so the walking begins in the Pena garden. A great finish is the stop at Cabo da Roca. I believe this tour is the best way to visit Sintra. Thank you Rui. ..... cef & JBear

When Ruth and her energy promptly arrived, I knew it was going to be a great day. Ruth is a genuinely beautiful soul. Her unique fashion of explaining her country's vast history is one that keeps you interested (not the usual blah, blah) and she's most knowledge, also full of little bits of trivia information. Her energy, sense of humour, personality etc., throughout our day kept us going and interested for our next destination. She was very patient with our day, we never felt rushed at any time, always asked if we were ready to go if anyone needed anything, "Thank you for that". Her gesture of indulging us in some sweet mini pastries I thought just gracious, we felt whilst in our van we were all just a family on our way to some relatives house. I think I speak for our whole group when I say Ruth, YOU'RE FABULOUS!!!!

Rui was fantastic, and really made the experience what it was. He is kind and knowledgeable, and our tour with him felt special. Even when the weather didn't cooperate, he was flexible and moved our day around to try to ensure we could enjoy the sites. Beyond the fantastic guide, the sites we spectacular - definitely worth the time. I highly recommend this tour!
