We had a great experience! Capt Brad, scuba Joe and First Mate Nate were very entertaining and did an excellent job keeping the group safe and fun. Snorkeling at the Elbow and Finger reefs provided stunning views of fish and coral along with the Jesus statue. We would definitely book this again!

The experience was amazing and safe!
I cannot recall the names of the two young ladies who drove us out to the reef, but they were knowledgeable, and more importantly, I felt safe with me and my son on board and in the water. I’m a mom that worries about everything. There is nothing anyone has to be worried about on this trip. Great experience! Highly recommend!

Had an amazing experience with my brother and his family! Katie and Gabby really knew how to handle everything and everyone with grace, humor, and firmness, as needed. This gave us as a mixed crowd of kids and adults the order we needed to make the trip comfortable and pleasant. I feel like we have a valuable review to offer because a month ago our adult son wanted to do a snorkel excursion like this one as well, so that experience is still fresh on our minds as a comparison. Weather aside—yesterday we had perfect weather conditions which also makes a huge difference—this crew offered a more comfortable boat and much better snorkel equipment than the first company we used, plus the areas where we were taken yesterday had a lot more coral and sea life to view while also allowing us to experience encountering the Christ of the Abyss statue which I was extremely excited to see! I am new to snorkeling but was surprised how easy it actually was with nicer equipment and that I could still view the statue from the surface. I really appreciated the effort Katie and Gabby made to make sure we got the opportunity since it’s not always easily accessible. It was a long swim over but they gave us enough time to enjoy it and then took us to another spot, less crowded area, to enjoy a safe natural reef with plenty of life to enjoy. On our first trip, my husband came back with a bunch of cuts and bruises from being too close to a tower that used to be a light house, but that’s where all the coral and fish were—not near the boat itself. On this trip, the reef was directly underneath us and we were able to enjoy all of it without having to swim too far (except if you wanted to see the statue (which was still very doable). Since the other trip hosted both snorkelers and divers, it seems like the crew focused more on the divers than on the snorklers. But with this trip, everyone was snorkeling and even without any scuba gear my brother still got to see a giant 7-foot stingray and others spotted turtles and starfish besides the colorful schools of fish that were hard for anyone to miss. Unfortunately, I missed the stingray and turtles but it was because I spent a lot of time with my head out of the water watching the kids! (My mommy/aunty side couldn’t help kicking in). But even with that, I was impressed with what I saw and had an amazing time. I also would like to point out that this crew also was well equipped and provided reef safe sunscreen (the other excursion didn’t) , plenty of shaded seating areas to fit us all in (my son’s girlfriend got sick), a huge cooler for everyone to use if they brought snacks and drinks, and a giant dry box to store towels and extra clothes and whatnot. They had cold water for us to drink but keep in mind that it’s from those orange cooler tanks with tiny cone cups, not individual bottles, so you might want to bring your own bottles for that.
All in all, I had to say that this trip turned out to be a 10/10 experience and a more beautiful and memorable day for us all for an even better price than the first trip!! Will be booking with them again in the future for sure!

Captain Katie and Mate Gabby were absolutely amazing as hosts with Pirates Cove water sports! Both of these women were very knowledgeable and had hilarious personalities. Captain Katie was especially helpful when I came up from the ocean, and my eyes were on fire from the saltwater, she immediately gave me an ice cold paper towel to drip in my eyes, giving me immediate relief and allowing me to continue enjoying my experience. My husband and I will definitely be back again for another adventure of snorkeling and next time we will throw jet skiing in with them. We jet skied with another company, not knowing that Pirate’s Cove water sports offers everything water! Thank you ladies. 🫶🏼

This was so awesome! Captain Brad and Scuba Joe were so funny and so informative!!! The boat ride to the reefs was relaxing, the reefs were wonderful, the boat ride back was fun and entertaining! 10/10 would recommend and do it again!

The captain and first mate were professional and courteous, but at the same time light hearted and very funny. They were very informative about the local waters what to do and what not to do.
The cruise was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish!
And the dive spots were incredible!

My family and I had an incredible time together on this trip! We got to see so many different types of fish as well as a nurse shark and an eagle ray! Not to mention the staff and the rest of the groups made the experience amazing! Highly recommend to any people interested in snorkeling. It was the best snorkeling we have done!!!

This was a very fun experience. Captain Cait and First Mate Liber were great. They provided very clear, professional instruction, but also made fun connections with participants and created an enjoyable environment. This is a great experience for first-time snorkelers, as you have concise and easily understandable instruction, and the excursion is not crazily physically demanding, yet you still get to see and experience some amazing sights and adventures. The long boat ride is certainly worth the beautiful sights beneath the surface of the water. The staff, the environment, and the excursion were all awesome. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Our Captain was amazing she was humorous and knowledgeable and was making sure everyone was safe the whole time.

Call ahead, to make sure route and conditions are optimal.
I drove 2.5 from Key West for bucket list to see statue Christ of the deep, only to find out they were not going to that reef. I was disappointed.
The staff was friendly but definitely catered to larger group of divers on the trip.

While we don't guarantee that we go to the Christ statue every trip, we do try to go there often. However, that day we had a group of kids that were being taught the Dive Against Debris course. They have to do that course outside Sanctuary Preservation Areas (SPA) because special permits are required to collect trash in a zone like that, so we were not able to go to Christ as it is located in a SPA zone. The captain warned everyone before the trip left that this would be the case for this trip. We do hope you enjoyed your experience on the other beautiful reefs the boat was able to go to and hope you are able to come back for another try for the Statue.

It was too windy all week and they were forced to reschedule trips. I went out on the first day that they were able to return to running trips. We went to a reef that was somewhat protected and there was very little that we were able to see. No real coral reef to see and minimal fish. Our second location was just yards away and was no better. I am sure that this is not the normal experience that they provide on a daily basis. I would still recommend them because there are a lot of good locations/ reefs there. We were just victims of bad weather conditions and trying to get a trip in. I guess the experience was better than none at all. It is just that it was not what I had experienced in the past. Captain and his mate ( Nate ) did the best with what we were given

We booked a trip to snorkel at Christ of the Abyss at a coral Reef for Easter Sunday and drove over 4 hours to get there. We didn't find out until just before departure that they changed the destination to snorkeling in mangroves. We spent 4 additional hours swimming around in murky seaweed without a fish or sea creature in sight. It was a very disappointing trip for both myself and my kids. There was zero communication regarding the change of destination. Upon asking, the guide informed us that we'd still see some of the colorful fish and marine wildlife that we'd have seen at the reef. It was nothing but seaweed and murky water.

Nice staff. Make sure you know how to put on all gear and practice in a pool or shallow body of water if it’s your first time. It can be overwhelming to learn in open ocean and staff does not teach how to use equipment. Beware of jellyfish! They were everywhere! Sting is not terrible and goes away in about an hour but feels like a bad sunburn. We brought a small cooler with some drinks for the ride back to shore. Alcohol is permitted but can only drink after you are done snorkeling. Overall great experience! Lots of fish/coral. Saw a small shark and stingray as well! The statue is really neat!

If you’re snorkeling in the mangroves, DON’T GO! It really is not very interesting. Maybe for 30 minutes or so but not the whole trip. I wish I had saved my money.

It was seriously magical! A family of dolphins swam right up to the boat, we saw a sea turtle, and the fish were beautiful. The water is crystal clear and Captain Brad and Scuba Joe were so knowledgeable, funny, and kind. Overall we had a wonderful time and recommended this to anyone going to Key Largo!

Pirates Cove Water Sports gave us a great snorkeling excursion even though we couldn’t go on our originally planned tour due to weather. Captain Katie and first mate Leber took us to the mangroves instead, where the water was clear and we saw lots of things under the water—Captain Katie even told us what to look for, including upside-down jellyfish. They kept everyone warm on a very cold day with hot chocolate, candy, and snacks, and the crew made sure everyone on board had a great time.
