Had a lovely time and caught lots of sea bass and a couple croakers too! Very fun experience and will definitely do it again! I didn’t catch the captains name but he and help mate Jack were both friendly and involved with the trip.

It's marketed as deep sea fishing well I guess if you consider 20-30' deep sea then yeah maybe but we didnt catch anything bigger than 8" and it was typical common fish it took us longer to get out to spot and back than we actually fished was not happy at all

It is very typical for a boat where you pay per person to catch small bottom fish such as sea bass and whiting. The boat fishes over an artificial reef where the depth is typically like you said. The depth of the ocean in this area has a very gradual drop off. I am glad you caught fish and maybe your expectations were not quite in line with what we do. We catch fish, typically a lot of small bottom fish with some larger ones mixed in. Thanks for fishing with us.

Jack was very willing to help us and everyone was so friendly. The captain was very knowledgeable The whole fishing experience was just great. We caught several fish even a toadfish.

This was a great experience! The boat road out was about 1 hr and 15 minutes and very relaxing. A few people on the boat caught little sharks. We moved spots 4 times to find a better spot. Our final spot was a good mine! Everyone was catching seabass.

The trip should be canceled because of the weather we didn’t catch anything instead of 4 hours it lasted 3 hours I don’t recommend it

We told everyone the plan to shorten the trip due to the weather before we left the dock and everyone had the option of going, rescheduling or getting a refund. We charged less for this shortened trip and sharks were caught. Thank you for fishing with us.

Our trip switched from offshore fishing to inshore shark fishing and was cut to 3 hours due to weather. We were notified of the change when we checked in and were told we’d receive a $10 refund per person. This would have been ok with me and I was prepared for the rain. However, the boat left late because the captain didn’t want to get wet driving the boat in the rain(??). We went to one spot to fish and even though there wasn’t much activity there the captain didn’t attempt to move us to another place in the hopes of getting more fish. At the end we were told to bring up our lines, remove any bait and secure the hooks. I generally wouldn’t mind doing this but felt that the first mate should be doing this and not the guests.

Thank you for fishing with us. Everyone did receive money back because of the changes made to the trip due to the weather. The captain was in contact with other boats and would have moved to another spot if there was a better bite being had elsewhere. It was one of those days where the bite was slow. The boat did stay out for three hours and everyone is asked to help to secure the hooks so kids don't get accidentally hooked. The mate goes around and double checks to make sure every hook is secured. Thank you for helping to keep everyone safe by securing your hook.

The trip was promoted as an half day “OFF SHORE EXCURSION” turned into a 2 & 1/2 hour shark fishing trip. Not good at all !!! The boat only had about 15 passengers on board…so I’m guessing that the captain didn’t want to go out and waste the gas because he wouldn’t have broken even on his expenses. Cited the weather as an excuse. Best weather that I’ve seen in quite awhile. Would not recommend this captain or this charter to anyone.

Steve, the captain decided the fishing trip was going to be inshore based on the weather buoy offshore showing 3 to 5 foot seas. When these conditions exist, people will get seasick and the captain doesn't want that. Everyone was told of this decision before they got on the boat and could have decided not to go and get a refund. Even if the sun is out, the ocean can be too rough to fish comfortably. The captain has been on this boat for 38 years and knows when to go in the ocean and when to stay inshore to keep everyone safe and comfortable. This captain will continue to make decisions based on the safety of the passengers.

Everyone was nice but this was just not worth the money. It took an hour to get to the fishing spot and the only thing anyone on the boat caught was little fish. Multiple people got sea sick and were throwing up while we were trying to fish. Another hour long trip back made this was a not so great experience. The kids were extremely bored and the boat moved so slow you didn’t even get a breeze to cool you down. Just go with a smaller boat fishing experience.

I'm sorry your kids were bored. Most people enjoy catching fish even if they are small. It can get hot out on the water in the summer but not much we can do about that.

It was a good day, our Captain and Sawyer were very helpful. It was an extremely sunny and hot day and we choose the wrong side of the ship so we’re in direct sun 3/4 of the time. Definitely bring sunscreen and long sleeve shirt if you don’t want to burn. The current was strong and there were so many people trying to fish at the same time that our lines were getting tangled. Overall still a good day!

Had we known that it was just fishing for shark and throwback we would have never gone on this excursion. If the representative would have let me talk directly to the company we wouldn't have lost all the money that we spent and wasted. Getting to the doc and finding out it was not a fishing trip with no refund I would have never booked this. Always talk directly to the company to find out what your spending your money on.

Hi Glenn, I am sorry you weren't happy with your fishing excursion. In your review you say it isn't the Drifter's fault and you should talk directly to the company. The morning of the fishing trip, you talked directly to both the owner of the company and the captain of the boat. It was explained that you would be fishing inshore for shark because it was too rough to go offshore. It was a matter of safety. You were given the choice to go or not. A member of your party thanked the company owner/captain for being honest about the conditions. That same member of your family voiced their thanks, again, to the company owner/captain while you were fishing. Please give the company a call and let them know what went wrong. You have just left a review that directly impacts the company you said was not at fault and this isn't fair to a small, family owned business that works very hard to please it's customers.

Booked an inshore and offshore trip and were told at check in it had changed to shark fishing trip. They did offer us the opportunity to not go. Approximately 30 people on boat. 5 sharks and a ray were caught in total. If looking to catch not just fish I would not recommend.

Sorry that the fishing was not the best when you went out but that can happen from time to time this is why it is called fishing and not catching. We told everyone before we left the dock that we would be staying inshore because it was far too rough to go out in the ocean to where we normally fish. Everyone was given the choice whether to go, to reschedule or get a refund. We went fishing and caught some sharks but it was not a great bite that day. Again, that can happen from time to time because it is fishing and that is the nature of the game. Thanks for coming out with us and hopefully it will be a better bite next time.

Sorry that you didn't catch any large fish when you went out. Taking people out to an offshore reef and catching fish isn't a scam. You went fishing and you caught fish which is the purpose of this trip. We catch more small fish than we do large ones but we do catch big fish. Everyday is different and that is the great thing about fishing, you never know what you will catch!

Great trip. Fish weren’t as plentiful as I hoped but you can’t do anything about that. Captain moved the ship a few times. Someone did catch a shark. Captain and staff were excellent. Snacks and water were available. Would book again.

Captain Robert and First Mate Mike worked diligently to make sure everyone on the boat caught a fish. We had 20+ people on the boat and saw each person catch numerous fish. We had about 4-6 keepers, but still had fun pulling in Whiting, sea bass, toad fish and several other species of fish.
