My girlfriend and I booked this excursion, and it was her "must do" while on our cruise to Alaska. She was excited the most to do this. It was good but definitely has some room for improvement! We got picked up on time and then took a short bus ride to get on the boat/ferry which was about 45-minute ride to the lake. Upon arriving at the lake there was a total of 6 of us on the kayak experience and we got a brief safety briefing (which as good) but we were offered no water or snack -didn't have any available which for the price for the excursion we paid I thought was poor!!!! It was the most expensive excursion we signed up even more so than whale watching and not sure why!!!! I mean what did we pay so much for? We put our kayaks in the water and did all the work. The guide didn't stay right with us he was often further ahead talking to the others. So it wasn't like we were getting history "talk/history" lesson. We did get to hike for a couple hours which was nice but again it was a nice sunny day and having the water would have been a nice perk. At the end, we got back on the bus and road back to the ferry drop off and NEVER got picked back up to take us to the cruise port. LUCKILY, we had time to walk it back otherwise then we would have been hustling since we waited around for a bit on our pickup. It was nice to do and experience as the mountains were beautiful but definitely needs some improvement!

Christy, I am very sorry that this was your experience. I was the guide on this trip and I am also the owner of the company and I do appreciate your feed back. We do offer and are committed to offering truly small group tours so that does tend to come with a higher price than tours with large groups, although I do not know what you paid for the tour. In the trip description we ask people to bring their own water bottles as we are committed to not adding to the plastics issue but if I failed to offer snacks on that day I do apologize. Most people sign up for a kayaking tour because it is an active tour in which you participate and don't just sit in a raft or on a bus but I am sorry if it was more work than you anticipated. I am more than happy to put your kayak in the water and there is no expectation that you do so but a lot of people want to actively participate in the tour and pick their kayak up and take it the 20 feet to the waters edge where I launch them into the water. I do try to engage everyone in the group and have a conversation with them but if I did not spend enough time with you then I do apologize. We do not have a canned tour but rather try to have a conversation with our guests about the place we live in here in SE Alaska. All our guides are local and feel passionately about this place but if you feel like you did not get enough information then I will try and improve on that. Normally you are given a voucher for the bus system in Skagway but obviously you did not receive that and I will check into this on my end i do apologize. Again thank you for your feed back and suggestions.
