This was such a wonderful experience. Joe, Beth and Chad were such amazing guides sharing immense knowledge with us. They were all friendly and welcoming! After our kayak adventure we spotted a young brown bear searching for salmon in the river. Beth was awesome, allowing us the opportunity to view and photograph him. It was the icing on the cake for a really enjoyable outing.

Just got done with this tour and it was so relaxing and beautiful. Joe and Emma were great tour guides and made sure that everyone had a great experience. It was also great that it was a small group which made it more intimate and they knew so much about the town, foliage, and animals.

This was so peaceful. The lake and surrounding area was beautiful. We spent a lot of time just listening to the waterfalls and breathing the clean air. The kayaking was go at your own pace and with the gear provided, we stayed completely dry. Loved the tour of the town at the end and learning more about Haines. Joe was a fantastic guide. Definitely recommend!

Me & my wife’s first time in Alaska! Haines was beautiful and the kayaking tour was a great time! The guides were knowledgeable and extroverts. They made the tour smooth and fun. We saw some breath taking views in between the mountains on a beautiful calm lake. Great excursion and very relaxing being out in nature!

Joe and Liz were very experienced and knowledgeable. They made everyone feel comfortable regardless of there skill level, and were very helpful with getting us outfitted and ready to paddle. We launched and recovered without getting wet! The scenery was breath taking! Great trip!!

Great Activity to Do in Haines

We weren’t sure about the weather conditions and had written two days earlier to basically find out how cold we’d be out on the water in a kayak. It was explained that we’d have a waterproof seal over the compartment we’d be sitting in and gloves for our paddles and all we would need is our warm clothing and head gear. When we arrived, Joe was there waiting for use with his sign, and drove us in his van to the lake, giving us a tour and talking to us about anything we were interested in. We were both first time kayakers and he clearly explained everything and set us up, pushed us into the water and got into his kayak. We were looking for bears and didn’t see any but enjoyed our time on the lake thoroughly. At the end, he even had snacks and drinks for us. He dropped us off to a place we had discussed wanting to go to in town and we had a nice time exploring Haines before heading back to the cruise ship.

We had the best time on this excursion. The guides were very friendly. We all stayed dry and got to see the beautiful scenery. We were lucky to have a nice sunny day in the upper 50's in May.

Joe picked us up right on time, and had all the gear ready. We got in the kayak and on the lake without even getting our feet wet. Paddling on the lake we saw beautiful mountains and waterfalls, and a few cool looking ducks.

Joe was an excellent driver and kayak guide. He knew all about the area, the flora and fauna. We saw Salmon, birds, humming birds, etc. The equipment was new. We truly enjoyed our 90 min kayaking experience on Chilkoot lake. Very serene and beautiful.

Had a wonderful time on this kayak trip! Kayaking in a beautiful lake surrounded by snow capped mountains with waterfalls was quite a treat. Joe was a great guide- giving us history and information about the area! He was even nice enough to give us time at the end of the tour to pick up food before we got on the ferry.

Joe was fantastic. Had a little mishap with another family that went kayaking with me. Joe was knowledgeable, patient and didn't panic when 2 people tipped over their kayak. Would do the same trip again. Highly recommend.
