      Shark tooth hunting 101

      Jessica_B, Apr 2026
Shark tooth hunting 101. What a wonderful morning. Our guide was flexible, knowledgeable, experienced, and had patience. After the tutorial, we went to shark frenzy in Venice and purchased our own equipment. Our group found over 400 teeth in two days. Because of Lee we knew exactly what to look for.

Great for novice shark teeth hunters.

This is a wonderful way to learn about fossils, shark teeth and sea shells. Lee does a wonderful job helping each person identify all the treasures that you gather. He provides all the supplies as well: chair, scooper, screen and a bag. The only thing I would say is that we all thought there was a boat to take us. We were setup right on the beach. Otherwise, this was a perfect way to get to find shark teeth and fossils and to have an expert help you in the process.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you and your group had a great time discovering fossils and shark teeth together — that's what it's all about. I appreciate you mentioning the boat expectation because I want to make sure future guests know exactly what to expect. Our eco-tour is entirely beach and wade-based — you're right there in the shallows of Manasota Key sifting through the sand where the fossils naturally wash up. No boat involved, just you, the Gulf, and millions of years of history under your feet. I'm updating our website to make that even clearer, so thank you for the feedback. Hope to see you back on the beach next time you're in Florida!
