It is a bit inconvenient...

Rick_L, May 2026
It is a bit inconvenient because you need to find the agent’s office (not an easy task!) and present your ticket in order to receive your ticket for entering the museum. However, once located, the ticket agent was helpful in getting me on Wi-Fi so I could download my ticket and audio guide. Once I found the museum there were long and confusing lines, but it didn’t take too long to get inside. My audio worked but my wife’s was stuck on pause. I could never figure out which room I was in so the audio guide wasn’t really useful. The statue of David was amazing. The rest of the museum was not that interesting to me as a casual tourist who had already seen amazing art in Rome.

Response from Host, May 2026

Hi there, We really appreciate you sticking with us through the "scavenger hunt" to find the office! We know the logistics in Florence can be a bit tricky, and we’re glad our team was there to help you get connected. We’re sorry the audio guide didn’t sync up as expected and that the rest of the collection didn't quite rival your Roman adventure. However, we're thrilled that the David still managed to be a standout moment for you. We’ll be working on making our directions even clearer to ensure the start of the tour is as smooth as the art is beautiful. Warm regards,

such a wonderful museum even more than just the statue of david. If you are looking for the best way to skip the line and see incredible history, this is the way!

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you for choosing us for your visit to the Accademia! We’re delighted that you enjoyed the entire collection and found our skip-the-line service helpful. It was a pleasure hosting you!

It is best to have a ticket ahead of time. The line went quickly. A certain amount of people were admitted at specific intervals to keep the crowds down. The statue of David is a must see! It is magnificent! See it from every angle.

Academia - Florence

Ritu_A, Apr 2026
Overall good. The museum is worth the visit. Two challenges were locating the person to get us into the museum. Would make it easier if that person could wear a Viator shirt or hold a sign, so they’re more easily identifiable. Second, the digital audio feature that Viator provided didn’t work for me , so I had to pay additionally at the museum. Had the same issue at another experience through Viator.

Scalper scam

Elizabeth_D, Apr 2026
The whole thing is such a scam. I tried to buy official ticket the day before but the website was rejecting US cards. I had an outing so decided to try to book it from my laptop instead of phone when I got back to the hotel. When I had looked in the morning, every time slot was open. Two hours later, there was not a single timeslot open as they had all been bought from sellers. When you buy a ticket here, you are essentially going to a random building a 6 minute walk from the museum the scalpers rent to show them your barcode. They won’t have your tickets but then they send you to another location where you have to track down a random guy standing on the street to ask for your tickets. It’s really shady. The museum needs to band these scalpers from buying mass tickets.

Very good with everything

Michelle_M, Apr 2026
Yes, it was very accommodating and interesting. All of the history was throughly explained on statues and paintings.

Easy to navigate and very reassuring agent

Mary_E, Apr 2026
Our agent in Florence met us exactly as planned and in a busy queue made us feel reassured and happy all would go to plan. Which it did! Thoroughly enjoyed a Our experience of Acadamis and the beautiful David by Michaelangelo

ItalyPass is great!

Janet_H, Apr 2026
Great tour guide. Great representatives at ItalyPass! Of course, David was great, too! The guide had a unique presentation - kept us all raptured for an hour. But it was the staff at ItalyPass that won me over. They are the best!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

What a wonderful review! We know it is hard to compete with the beauty of Michelangelo’s David, so hearing that our ItalyPass staff won you over is the ultimate compliment. Our team works hard to ensure that the logistics are as smooth as the tour is engaging, and we are so glad our guide kept you "raptured" throughout the experience. We will be sure to share your kind words with our representatives—it will make their day! Thank you for choosing ItalyPass, and we hope to welcome you back to Florence soon.

Easy to pick up tickets....

Victoria_S, Apr 2026

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you so much for your kind review! We are thrilled to hear that the ticket pickup was easy and that our team could assist you with the audio tour download. We take great pride in our staff being helpful and ensuring our guests get into the museum without any stress. It’s wonderful to know you were able to walk right in and enjoy the beauty of Michelangelo’s David. We hope you had a fantastic time in Florence!

Terrible

Timolyn_E, Apr 2026
If I could give it a ZERO I would. The audible didn't work as soon as we walked into the museum and our tour could do nothing about it. I would like to request my money back but can't figure out how to do son the Viator app. TERRIBLE

I will use Viator again for sure!!!

When we finally found the place and person who had the tickets, it was a very fast and pleasant check-in experience. Would highly recommend!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Hi Karen, Thank you so much for your review! We are thrilled to hear that once you connected with our team, you had a fast and pleasant check-in experience. It was a pleasure helping you see the magnificent David and the rest of the Accademia’s masterpieces. We truly appreciate the recommendation and look forward to hosting you again on your next adventure!

Easy & Quick attraction!...

Sofia_R, Apr 2026
Easy & Quick attraction! Super cool to see in person! Spent about 45 minutes here! The ticket pick up is right around the corner.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Hi Sofia, Thank you for the 5-star shout-out! We’re so glad you found the ticket pick-up convenient and that you enjoyed the "cool" factor of seeing the David in person. It’s proof that even if you only have 45 minutes, the Accademia is a must-see! We’re thrilled we could help make your visit to Florence both easy and memorable. Safe travels on the rest of your journey!

Michelangelo's David

Mark_H, Apr 2026
We paid for tickets a week or so in advance, and then had to pick up the actual entry tickets from a shop in via Pucci opposite the bus stop Pucci e Duomo. The staff there were very helpful. We then had to navigate up via Ricasoli to the Gallery, which is always a spectacularly crowded street. We had to find the red queue (for those with timed tickets), as opposed to the blue queue (for those without timed tickets) and the green queue (for tour groups?). The red queue is divided into different parts according to the time booked. After reaching our designated part of the red queue we did not have to wait long to be allowed into the gallery. There were hundreds of other sightseers inside and it was sometimes hard to move easily around among the various rooms of the gallery, but we all agreed that the management of the crowds was excellently efficient. There are also quite a lot of benches where we sat and rested from time to time. The main hall of the gallery lies to the left of the entrance, leading to the famous monumental statue of David, which is the chief attraction of the gallery. It stands on a tall pedestal, and it is possible to walk all round it to appreciate the work from every direction and to photograph it from every angle. The same hall includes six unfinished statues of a Pieta', four 'Prisoners' and 'St Matthew', and they are intriguing in their own way, revealing Michelangelo's insight that he did not exactly create a statue but worked on the original block of marble in such a way as to reveal the finished statue which he had envisioned from the beginning. The gallery includes other rooms as well, displaying paintings from approximately the same period as the work of Michelangelo. We were struck by a very large Annunciation by Albertinelli in the same hall as the Prisoners (opposite St Matthew in fact) and a smaller Annunciation in the right-hand gallery by Neri di Bicci. There is a well-stocked version of the inevitable book store before leaving. We took our time over the visit, spending abut two-and-a-half hours from when we picked up the tickets. The statue of David is fabulous to see personally, and overall the visit to this gallery was the high point of our stay in Florence.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you so much for such a detailed and thoughtful review! We are thrilled to hear that your visit to the Accademia was the high point of your time in Florence. It is wonderful that you appreciated the "unfinished" Prisoners and St. Matthew. As you perfectly noted, Michelangelo’s belief that he was simply "releasing" the figure from the stone is one of the most moving aspects of his genius. We are also delighted that you took the time to explore beyond the David—the Albertinelli Annunciation is indeed a masterpiece that many visitors unfortunately overlook! We’re glad our team at via Pucci was helpful and that the "red queue" system worked efficiently for you. Navigating Florence in the high season can be a challenge, but we strive to make the process as smooth as possible so you can focus on the art. Thank you again for choosing us for such a monumental experience. We hope to welcome you back to Italy soon!

Not what it is made out to be!

Anthony_S, Apr 2026
Process for getting tickets somewhat painful. Need to look out for a guy on the corner with a hat on???However he was there! The visit indicates audio guide…. But they would not provide these indicating that you needed to use your own mobile phone and App to guide you about. We gave up!!So busy you cannot hear a thing!!!!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We sincerely regret that your visit to the Accademia Gallery didn’t meet your expectations, as we want every guest to feel the full impact of Michelangelo’s work without the stress of logistics. To help clarify for both yourself and future guests, I’d like to address your concerns: The Check-in Process: Because the area around the museum is highly regulated and often crowded, our coordinators (like the gentleman in the hat!) stand at specific meeting points to hand off tickets and bypass the general ticket office lines. We aim for this to be a seamless "hand-off," and we're glad you found him, though we apologize if it felt unconventional. Audio Guides vs. Apps: We hear your frustration regarding the audio. Many galleries have transitioned to digital app-based guides to allow guests to use their own headphones for better hygiene and clarity. We are sorry this wasn't made clearer beforehand or that the museum's volume made it difficult to focus. Crowd Levels: The Accademia is one of the most visited sites in the world. While we provide skip-the-line access, we unfortunately cannot control the density of the crowds inside the galleries, especially during peak hours. We truly value your patronage and your feedback, as it helps us refine how we communicate these instructions to our guests. We hope that despite the hurdles, the sight of the David provided a moment of inspiration.

Davis

Joe_K, Apr 2026
Definitely get a private tour if possible. You learn so much more than just walking through the museum. Our guide Mary was wonderful.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you so much for the kind words! We couldn’t agree more—while the David is breathtaking on its own, having a guide like Mary to peel back the layers of history really changes the whole experience. We’ll be sure to pass your praise along to her; she’ll be thrilled to know she made your visit to the Accademia so memorable.

Michelangelo’s David is a hit!

Billie_A, Apr 2026
Museum wasn’t as great as I thought it would be. However, David was incredible to see. Worth the cost for that by itself.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Dear Billie, Thank you for your review! It’s great to hear that seeing the David was a highlight for you—it truly is a masterpiece that justifies the visit all on its own. We appreciate your candid feedback regarding the rest of the museum. While the David often steals the spotlight, we hope the "Slaves" and the musical instrument collection added a little extra depth to your Renaissance experience. We're glad it was worth the trip! Best regards,

Efficient!

Jeffrey_M, Apr 2026
We skipped the line, which was great! The tickets showed up on my phone at exactly 20 minutes before the start time. Perfect

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Dear Jeffrey, Thank you for the great review! We are so glad to hear the process was efficient and that your tickets arrived exactly when you needed them. Providing a seamless, "skip-the-line" experience is our top priority so you can spend less time waiting and more time enjoying the incredible art. It’s wonderful to know the timing worked out perfectly for you. We hope you had a fantastic time visiting the David! Best regards,

We I it on our own...

Lynn_B, Apr 2026
We did it on our own without a guide as we like to go at our own pace. Ticket pick up was easy just round the corner from the museum.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Lorena_A, Apr 2026
Easy access and skipped the line. Self guided through the Accademia and to David. Must do while in Florence!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for the recommendation, Lorena! We’re so happy we could help you get straight to the masterpieces. There is nothing quite like that first moment seeing David without the stress of a long line. We appreciate you choosing us for your 'must-do' Florence experience!

Florence visit.

Pascal_S, Apr 2026
Great museum and David off course. A must see if visiting Florence, just to see Michael Angelo's David. But there is a large more.

Gotta check it out

keith_n, Apr 2026
Very good experience. My wife is huge into art, it was fun to see her get so excited and in awe. I've never seen anything like it!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Hi Keith, thank you for the wonderful review! There is truly nothing like seeing Michelangelo’s David for the first time—it’s a powerful experience, and we’re so glad we could help make that moment special for you and your wife. Hearing about her excitement is exactly why we love what we do. We hope the rest of your time in Florence is just as inspiring!

Redeeming at the ticket...

breeana_c, Apr 2026
Redeeming at the ticket place was super easy and staff was friendly and helpful! It was a lot of fun and I recommend it!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you so much for your great review! We are thrilled to hear that the redemption process was seamless and that our staff made you feel welcome from the very start. Our goal is to make visiting Michelangelo’s David as stress-free as possible, so it’s fantastic to know you had a fun experience. Thank you for the recommendation, and we hope to see you again in Florence!

David was amazing, collecting the tickets wasn’t!

Kristy_H, Apr 2026
David so worth the queues and crowds. The rest of the gallery was okay, would have been a flop if it wasn’t for the incredible statue. Be ready for the strangest way to collect tickets you have pre-purchased. We started at an office about five minutes walked from the gallery. Here we exchanged our digital tickets for odd printed tickets and told to go to door 39 to meet Brian. We arrived at least 30 minutes early to be told that we need exchange these tickets for further ones and also show a passport for our daughter. Many people were clearly confused at this point, especially those whose first language isn’t English. The physical tickets were swapped amongst around 8 men, in a way that seemed like illicit goods being moved, with hand shakes and gentle knowing nods to each other. After about 20 minutes of watching everything unfold and thinking we knew what was going on, my family was put into a larger group and taken to the first of 4 queues. We stood waiting hoping that weren’t getting ripped off and also thinking that this would make a good story for friends and family back home. We were led by Brian through the official queues to the security and then to the counter to get another ticket (I think this was our third set at this point). We then finally were led to the entrance and let in. What a strange process and not what I would call beating the queues!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing such a detailed account of your visit. We are thrilled that seeing Michelangelo’s David was a highlight of your trip and "worth the crowds"—it truly is a breathtaking sight! We appreciate your candid and humorous feedback regarding the ticket collection process. While the Accademia has very specific entry requirements (including ID checks for minors and multi-step voucher exchanges), we realize that the "handshakes and nods" of our coordinators can appear a bit mysterious! Our team works behind the scenes to navigate the gallery's strict entry slots to ensure our guests get in as quickly as possible, but we clearly have room to improve our communication. We want the experience to feel seamless, not like a spy novel! Your feedback about the confusion felt by non-English speakers is particularly helpful, and we will work with Brian and the rest of the ground team to make our instructions clearer and the process more transparent. We’re glad you walked away with a great story for friends and family, and we hope the rest of your time in Florence was just as memorable. Best regards, The Management Team

The check in process was quick and easy and the staff was very helpful and polite. The meeting place was easy to find.

Seeing David et al

Michael_S, Mar 2026
The museum can get very crowded. There are some quiet spots, like on the first floor one level up from the ground floor.

Avoid Viator for this because the third party is horrible.

Tom_N, Mar 2026
You need to replace your third party provider. There office was a chaotic mess. We had ten hours in Florence. We booked at 11 am. That morning they asked if we could move to noon due to technical issues. We agreed. Arrived at their office at 11:40. - no lines, just a crowd trying to get their tickets. - we paid for an audio guide. No mention that it wasn’t the Accademia’s audio guide. Instead they had us download their app. But we were never told to bring our own headphones. And we were never told to make sure our phones were fully charged. (Three of the five in our party chose not to use the audio because their phones weren’t fully charged.) - the audio guide app wasn’t just a simple downloading, but took multiple steps. - At 12:15, we were issued stickers and told to meet at a specific address across from the Accademia. We went there and waited another ten minutes before anyone approached us with our tickets. I travel extensively. I know things happen. I’ve used Viator multiple times and I’ve been happy with what I received, albeit knowing I’m paying a premium. However I would absolutely avoid Viator until they change third parties.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

We sincerely apologize that your experience in Florence wasn't the seamless one we strive for. We understand that with limited time in the city, every delay is frustrating. Your feedback regarding the audio guide requirements (headphones/battery) and the check-in process is invaluable, and we are already taking steps to improve our communication and app setup. We'd like to make this right

Easy to purchase tickets....

Kelly_K, Mar 2026
Easy to purchase tickets. Needed to pick up tickets from personnel at the site, should be clearer about that detail. Didn’t take long, just an extra step.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! We’re thrilled to hear that you found the booking process easy and that you enjoyed the incredible masterpieces of the Accademia Gallery. We also truly appreciate your honest feedback regarding the ticket pickup process. We aim to make every step of the journey as seamless as possible, so we will look into making the pickup instructions even more prominent in our confirmation details to avoid any "extra steps" for our future guests. We’re glad it didn't take too much time away from your visit with David! We hope the rest of your time in Florence was just as memorable.
