Gayla was an incredible tour guide. She took us through to see the most important pieces of the collection at the Academia. We were on the tour with our children ages 7, 11, 15, and 17. We loved learning more about Florence, the Medici family, and Michelangelo. The David was stunning in person, more powerful than I expected. She taught us so much about the David and Michelangelo. We gained a much deeper appreciation for his artwork and specifically the David.

This is a great tour if you have younger kids and want to get into the museum, get the main points, see the David and get out within an hour. Our guide was great, knowledgeable about the artwork and music room and very knowledgeable about Michelangelo and the sculptures. Highly recommend!

I really can't recommend this tour enough. It was incredible to hear the backstory of Michelangelo and David; it made our tour of the Accademia much richer. We booked a 8:55am start time, and I wouldn't go much later than that to avoid crowds. Regardless, we were provided headphones and could always hear the tour clearly.

They canceled on us the afternoon before, and the other times available did not fit our schedule. That's why we took the afternoon time. Our tour guide from our Gate1 tour was kind enough to get us a time for entry ticket and we saw the David as planned. Also, it was International Woman's day and all museums were free to women so it worked out and was much less expensive.

We all enjoyed this experience, I had not realised the statue of David was so large. You do skip the line, which is great and you can take as many photographs as you wish, provided you do not use flash photography. The experience last around an hour, and you are left to spend as much time as you like within the small museum. I did learn much about the moving of the statue, how it was protected during the war and much about musical instruments from the past. I am pleased I had an early booking as the rest of the day was left free for exploring.

We had this tour booked for weeks and the night before we get a message that due to “unforeseen” circumstances the tour will start 75 minutes prior to the ticketed time. Super frustrating as we had other plans we had to change to make it to the time. Tour was chaotic and rushed. Just get your own tickets and save money and the hassle. When we later exited the museum we found the tour guide hanging out so obviously the time change was not necessary.

Martina was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable. She was funny and a little sarcastic, which our group loved! She had a surprise for us and showed us a part of the museum that is not normally open, she had great insights to the art and sculpture. If the best of the Renaissance is on your ‘’must see’ list, this is great introduction. Our guide, Antonio, was very capable. He shares the facts and adds in helpful context along with his passion for Florence in this tour. The tour isn’t too short or too long, and it allows tike for you to explore the Galleria dell Accademia on your own afterwards as well. Highly recommend.

If you don't have a hide or an audio you will miss a lot of why's. To have this knowledge ; of why the big feet & hands. Why have a tree trunk behind the right leg? Get the why's & you'll see the crack in the leg & know why!
