Itinerary
This haunted tour takes you and your group to several spooky spots in Albuquerque. You’ll stop at some, and just pass by others, with maybe some time for a photo or two.
Your first point of interest is the Old Town Basket and Rug Shop. After passing this, you’ll be in Albuquerque Old Town, where you’ll spend a few hours hearing loads of ghost stories and all about the old town itself, which is over 300 years old.
Make sure your cameras are ready to capture some haunted images, plus take photos of Albuquerque landmarks, like the Covered Wagon. You’ll also pass the American International Rattlesnake Museum, Old Town’s Poco a Poco Plaza, and San Felipe de Neri church. Your guide will tell you about them, especially their links to murders and hidden cemeteries. If you’d like to explore them further on your own time, it’s up to you.

We didn’t care for our tour guide’s style, but that was a matter of taste, because the other folks on the tour seemed to really enjoy it. But there were lots of other issues.
The tour was at least an hour too long, considering that there were only about half a dozen stories to tell. They were all unnecessarily drawn out with sensationalized details that were clearly made up and were frankly not interesting. It didn’t help that we paused the tour several times to watch clips of TV shows or listen to “EVPs” featuring Old Town Albuquerque—that feels like something we could do on our own time, if we’re interested. Plus there’s no good way to deliver that kind of content to people outside, so the audio and video quality were pretty bad. Maybe offer folks the option of staying for that at the end if you really want to offer it.
The best ghost tours are part history lesson, part storytelling/performance, and part exploration of the unknown. This company steadfastly refuses to provide any historical context or details, because they want you to pay for their separate history tour. Details that would have been interesting or even helpful for understanding context were teased with a “If you want to know why xyz, you’ll have to take our history tour!” No thanks.
I wasn’t going to write a review, because I don’t love leaving such critical feedback, but this company bugged me incessantly for the entire week before our tour with at least 2 communications per day about when and where to show up, and then the tour guide had a whole spiel about leaving a 5-star review. I don’t appreciate coercive review requests. If you really believe your work is good, you don’t need to tell people what to say about it. Then the post-tour emails started, and one of them went on at incredible length about how important it is to this small business to have only 5-star reviews, and if I wanted to leave anything but a 5-star review, I should instead email the owner directly.
This defeats the purpose of reviews, and it’s manipulative. I booked this tour because of all the glowing reviews, and now I think that they’re either deliberately curated, or that people like me who did not enjoy the tour just feel bad enough for the company not to leave an honest review.
There are clearly a lot of folks for whom this tour worked really well, so I don’t think the company is in any danger if I say that it was a big disappointment for us. We’ve done ghost tours in every city we’ve visited, and this was the most disappointing one.

Honestly, your review is soul crushing to our 25-year local business; & to our veteran Guide. We take our Guest's satisfaction seriously. We demonstrate that in so many ways, including responding to all comments, like yours, immediately.
It doesn't appear that there were any issues finding or booking your tour. You booked through an off-price retailer.
To be clear, OUR Company has NEVER EMAILED YOU ANYTHING. How could we? We do NOT have your email address. Viator emailed you. They send you emails and NEVER provide us your email address.
We send 4 EMAILS to Viator: a receipt for purchase, a tour info email (where to meet, park, weather, etc), a reminder email 12-hours before tour time, & a review request (with a copy of our amazing salsa recipe) after the tour.
I am sorry that you felt overwhelmed by the amount of emails and information that you received. Thank you for actually reading the information! Many travelers have no idea where to go and they get concerned if they don't have all of the details in front of them in advance so we strive to be thorough. I have reviewed our Viator account and am awaiting a response to see if they can reduce the amount of emails that THEY send you. Viator guests appear to receive 4 emails TWICE. We are unable to make any changes on our end to what emails Viator sends you.
I am sorry that you did not appreciate your tour guide's style. We have a dozen tour guides. Everyone's presentation is different. Some are more theatrical, some are ghost hunters, some are more historical.
We received two other reviews from guests who LOVED last night's tour & their Guide. You stayed for the entire tour, took photos, and told your guides thank you. As you stated, all the other guests were loving the tour.
You felt that the tour was too long but you also felt that we should include more history. After 25 years in business, and with over 320 years of history to tell, we have curated the best PUBLIC Ghost TOUR experience for most guests.
Some people think the tour should be longer; some people think the tour should be shorter; some people think it should have more history; some people feel it should have less history. The histories are vast and would be difficult to tell, along with all of the ghost stories, in one tour. We cover the history in great detail on our history tours. Or, for a mixed combination of both, a private tour is the best option.
Stopping the guide's presentation, you ask the guide to give the history of a nearby statue. The Guide happily obliged. The group was then told that history tours were offered daily and you said that sounded great and you'd have to book one and asked if we held them on the weekends.
We tell a great deal of history on our Ghost Tours but it is, primarily, a ghost tour.
On private tours our Guides are happy to share more of whatever interests you - history or ghost or just about anything Old Town! But on our public tours, with many different parties all attending the same tour together, we don't have much room to deviate from the public tour routes & schedule for the benefit of all guests.
The ghost stories are crazy enough that we do not need to embellish them. You may believe them or you may not. We aren't trying to convince you. We tell you the reported ghost stories, show you a bit of the documented evidence, and have walk in the footsteps the past history and the current vitality of the area. Then you can decide for yourself the possibility of the existence of ghosts.
I am sorry that you were unable to hear the audio evidence. I will personally review all outdoor audio equipment. We want everyone to see and hear! A summer July night is definitely louder outside than a winter's night.
While you did not enjoy the video or EVP samples the majority of our guests do..

Yes. You should have contacted us directly if you were not 100% happy. We would have done everything in our power to make it right. You were not treated poorly in ANY way.
Reviews are the lifeblood of the tourism industry. We take feedback very seriously. Viator requested your review and Viator is showing your review. There is no way for us to curate reviews. We have 15,000 guests each year and we are the highest reviewed tour operator in all of New Mexico.
You had two people on tour with you last night whose sole mission was to do everything possible to entertain you. They worked very hard to do just that! You had the ability to ask questions or to let the Guides know that you were not enjoying yourself and they would have immediately addressed any issues.
Any chance that maybe you were hungry or tired or whatever?
We are quite disappointed. We will use your discounted admission to buy a round of margaritas for me and your tour guides to discuss all of these issues in great detail. Cheers!

Was there a problem with your reservation (you booked through an off price supplier) or check in? Was your Guide lacking or missing anything? Was there any sort of issue during the Tour? Did the Guide and Assistant treat your poorly? All of those things would warrant a 2 star review. What sort of "verification" were you expecting; for us to PROVE a ghost exists or to show you an actual ghost? I sure wish we could.

Historical sightings (multiple) of ghosts in the old town.

Brandon and Alan braved the cold with us to tell us even more chilling stories while informing us of the history of Old Town ABQ. Brandon is a great storyteller while also respecting the spirits that may still remain trapped in this place due to the nature of their demise. I had no idea Albuquerque had such a rich ghost history. There were 16 oeople on this tour, many of them locals, and I was the lone tourist from out of town. The others had brought gear tobdetect paranormal activity... so they were serious ghost chasers! I had taken the historic tour that afternoon, so Ibthought there might be a lot of overlap, but it was amazing! Misty is a great tour guide, and she told the ghost stories of the same places I had been with her hours before, with stuff I hadn't heard on the earlier tour. Seeing places at night is also different. Some of the folks got pictures with ghostly images. I highlybrecommend this tour, not to be missed. Even with two tours the same day with the same guide, it was extremely interesting and fun!

We enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide, Misty, was great and informative. We are just passing through and decided to stop in Albaquerque and do a couple of tours. It is interesting to find out about the ghosts who are still around the old town and their stories. It is also good to know research was done to tell the stories as accurately as possible. We took picture and actually see an orb in a couple of our pictures of the covered wagon..

As people from the Albquerque area, it was great to learn some new infomaiton about Old Town, especially when it comes to the history and paranormal! We went close to Halloween, which added to the excitement. I also didn't tell my wife where we were going on date night, and she surprisingly had a blast. Our guide was a super great storyteller.

The tour guides were very nice and informative! I loved hearing the history of the town. If you're a believer or not, this is a cool experience to learn about the wars and culture of the town. Loved the little kitties that came to visit us on tour!!<3

M&M were great. We learned a lot about Albuquerque history besides interesting ghost stories. We walked around old town and saw many Adobe houses.

Our guide was great! Engaging and fun to listen to and learn from! Even though it was raining and out, our guide made sure we were as comfortable as possible and we really enjoyed ourselves!
