Alcatraz has been on my bucket list for a while, and this excursion did not disappoint. The audio tour was excellent and I would recommend this experience to everyone. We also got to meet the last living person who spent 3 years in Alcatraz. Amazing!

If I could give this tour 6 stars I would! The ticket included return ferry to Alcatraz, audio tour on island and also a separate ferry ride around San Francisco Bay out to the Golden Gate Bridge. The Alcatraz trip was excellent- really enjoyed the history of the prison and the audio tour could be stopped and started at your leisure. Alcatraz is very busy but well organised….you pick the ferry up at Pier 33.
When you return you can head to Pier 39 to decide which time suits best for the Bay Ferry trip….again well organised and narrated. Good value for money!

We were not given our tickets in advance, only a voucher for the Alcatraz boat. It did not tell you to arrive early. We missed our boat and waited in line to exchange tickets. They were very accommodating. The second half of the tour (bay cruise) was not very clear to us where to go and how to get the tickets. They were in messages in the Viator app

I like how you toured Alcatraz at your own pace. The prison itself, with the audio guide was nice to experience.
Locating the correct dock at Pier 39 for the San Francisco Bay tour can be difficult. We used the hop on hop off bus the previous day to make sure we knew where to go. We enjoyed this part of the tour too.

Nice experience. The Alcatraz audio tour is superb. Very well narrated. Enough time to enjoy Alcatraz and then to finish up with the cruise under the Giolden Gates bridge. Perfect opportunity to take the most instagram worthy pictures.

A trolley is available for people with disabilities. It takes you from the dock to Alcatraz’s entrance. There are many steps up to the exercise yard so it’s good to take a carer with you to take photos of it.
The self-guided tour is well narrated. It’d be helpful if staff handing out its audio equipment took a little more time in explaining how to use it to its full advantage. I have a brain injury which has affected my language and cognitive skills, which stopped me from matching aural and visual (eg images, cells and landscapes). Displaying the green sunflower lanyard for hidden disabilities will help both tourists and your staff. It’s really important. Excellent trip to Alcatraz and San Francisco Bay cruise,boat trip to Alcatraz took about 20 minutes,we used the audio guide to guide us all around the jail and courtyard,felt really airy,we got the ferry back,then went to pier 39 for the bay cruise,which took us out for an hour under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz again,staff were lovely,you could get food and drink on board,weather was good too.was a good trip.thankyou.

Purchased the Alcatraz and San Francisco Bay cruise but was only taken to the Alcatraz tour! I was informed to go to the ticket office and they were unable to help get any type of refund due to “final sale”. I paid over $800 for this experience and was scammed out of the bay cruise. I am extremely frustrated about this experience and would recommend purchasing tickets in person at the booth to know exactly what you are purchasing/receiving.

The bay cruise voucher was sent to you together with the Alcatraz ticket and the instruction tells you clearly that the bay cruise is a separate tour and you’ll need to go to Pier 39 for that (5 minutes walk from Alcatraz ferry). You can still do the bay cruise if the voucher is not redeemed and it is valid for 30 days.

The tour was informative. It was a hilly walk to get to top for the tour. The smell at the top was interesting. The lady giving the information at the island was great. The ticket taker… not so much. Very rude and impatient.

Steep hill walk for seniors, a tram is available. Get the recorded tour headphones, they are free and very good. Great trip, worth every cent.

There were flies everywhere. An employee said something about an excess of birds this time of year, which is why there were more flies, but the number of flies made it very uncomfortable on the boat and on Alcatraz. There were way too many people taking the tours, there was no real direction since it's a self-tour with the headset, but there were too many people hanging around and going the wrong direction, which made it difficult to follow the audio tour. We will not go back.

The actual prison was fabulous and everything you expect, the ferry over was brilliant and promptly left etc the only downside is the flies ..so many flies that constantly crawl on you due to the birds on the island. Luckily none inside the building so just as you walk to and from the dock or if you explore outside more but I wouldn't have not gone worth the trip to see.
