Itinerary
Get ready to discover the original Emerald City, the city of Seattle, Washington, from its inception in the 1890s. This entertaining and educational underground voyage travels beneath the streets to uncover three blocks of historic, old Pioneer Square. Explore not only the underground passageways that were built more than 120 years ago, but also the modern Pioneer Square that exists today.
Make your way to 102 Cherry Street near Pioneer Street to start your tour. Hear tales from the past, including the story of the stampede to the Yukon gold fields and Seattle's crucial role in what would become the Klondike Gold Rush. Find out about Skid Row, a dilapidated urban area that served as the main street in Pioneer Square. And get to know the history of a group of people called the Coast Salish, the ethnically and linguistically related Indigenous peoples that first settled here.
The tour ends at Occidental Square.

- There are 3 flights of stairs, up and down each flight, throughout the one hour tour. We travel 4 blocks ( apporx. half a mile, .8k) at a leisurley pace during the one hour tour.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 20 travelers

This tour is a terrific way to learn and visualize the ‘ hilly’ history of Seattle’s beginnings. Patti, our host was very informative and friendly. I enjoyed going beneath three buildings to see how the areas were utilized and built. Highly recommend!

It’s interesting but it’s not worth paying for basically a story telling tour and there was really nothing to see along the way in the underground. I’m only giving a 3 for the tour guide’s effort.

Thank you for your honest feedback. The reality of the Underground v. the Myth of the Underground can take guests by surprise. It is not the ruins of a lost city nor is it as expansive or interconnected as many of the great Undergrounds of the world which can be disappointing.
Our guides work hard to bring the Underground to life through telling stories of what happened in those spaces. It sounds like the guide did a great job but you were hoping to see some different spaces. The Underground is privately owned and we are always on the hunt for more spaces to bring guests to. Hopefully in the future we will have more to show you - thanks!

Had an amazing time, and would highly recommend doing it when you’re in Seattle. David was our tour guide and he was full of amazing facts and stories. If you have a chance to ask for a guide I would choose him. This tour was amazing also because it was something that people didn’t even know right under their feet.

The walking on the tour is pretty manageable. There were quite a few seasoned attendees manageable, some with canes in our group that were able to get around no problem. Went in June during incredible sunny/breezy weather so the outside parts were great. While underground i did have a fan so wasn't unpleasant but 1 area was a little hot but weren't in that section for long.
Our tour guide Mike was nothing short of amazing. He was able to keep everyone engaged and he keeps a very good cadence. Very knowledgeable, funny and just all around a cool dude. We were able to pick his brain throughout and he welcomed and encouraged any questions.
It really is a quick fun tour that you won't regret.

There was not as much time under neath the city...the artifacts they had we not consistent with the era..maybe put a few manakins dressed to help talk about what was happening in the couple of areas we were in

Most of the items that you see throughout the Underground we have found in the underground - which is pretty neat.
