Itinerary
Get ready to discover the original Emerald City, the city of Seattle, Washington, from its inception in the 1890s. This entertaining and educational underground voyage travels beneath the streets to uncover three blocks of historic, old Pioneer Square. Explore not only the underground passageways that were built more than 120 years ago, but also the modern Pioneer Square that exists today.
Make your way to 102 Cherry Street near Pioneer Street to start your tour. Hear tales from the past, including the story of the stampede to the Yukon gold fields and Seattle's crucial role in what would become the Klondike Gold Rush. Find out about Skid Row, a dilapidated urban area that served as the main street in Pioneer Square. And get to know the history of a group of people called the Coast Salish, the ethnically and linguistically related Indigenous peoples that first settled here.
The tour ends at Occidental Square.

- There are 3 flights of stairs, up and down each flight, throughout the one hour tour. We travel 4 blocks ( apporx. half a mile, .8k) at a leisurley pace during the one hour tour.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 25 travelers

The gentleman made the experience. Hes a great story teller and knows alot about the area. We enjoyed our time and learned a lot we didnt know! The underground sections were very unique and interesting.

A great tour to learn about the history of Seattle and see some areas you might not visit on your own. The Underground is less expansive than we expected. The tour guide was knowledgeable and generally funny and appropriate for all ages. I would suggest this tour to anyone in town before a cruise looking for a short, inexpensive tour.

Our tour did contain at least 5 children and our guide was very nice and certainly knowledgeable, but...I didnt feel it was not overly informative and all the dad jokes were silly. It was not a childs tour. Just my opinion but we all gave it a 6.5/10

It’s hot underground and also the entire tour is not underground. It was sooo bad that we left halfway through and stopped at a bar along the way.

A quick look at the early days of Seattle and the engineering feats that saved the town. Gives you a good perspective on a key point in the town’s development. Not too long and not too short but rather just the right length of time to grab your interest. Dave, our tour guide, was terrific. Bring a few extra dollars for a tip as the guides do a great job.

The tour guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Learning about the fire and its aftermath was interesting. I did not know how limited the underground tour experience was so I was surprised when part of our tour went outside to street level. But by doing so it offered more to the experience regarding the rebuilding of Seattle.

It is a lot of walking and stairs. I didn’t mind at all but you should know. Very informative and so very interesting! One of the highlights of our Seattle visit!

Short 75 minute tour packed with cool stories of the birth of Seattle. Easy walking pace but does have multiple locations with stairs to get to the different underground locations. If you have mobility issues, sorry to say this tour isn’t for you. David was our guide and he was a pro. Highly recommend him and the tour. Pair with the FREE Klondike Gold Rush Museum and US Natl Park which is a short ride.

There is no underground city anymore, but it is a fascinating history of Seattle. Interesting visuals. GREAT guide. Even the teenager found it interesting!

This was such a cool tour. We really were able to go into Seattle's underground and check out it out. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the various subjects, although he did lean into the political, which I did not mind, but I understand how some would not enjoy. Overall, such a good tour.
