We thoroughly enjoyed this tour of Pompeii. The meeting location was conveniently close to the cruise ship debarkation area, although we did find it somewhat stressful locating the exact spot. The instructions referenced only the name of a food stand, and it would have been helpful to include GPS coordinates, photos, or more detailed directions to make finding the meeting point easier. Once we met our travel coordinator, everything went very smoothly. She was professional, organized, and spoke excellent English. At Pompeii, we were handed off to a young man who did an outstanding job. His knowledge of the site and ability to explain the history and significance of what we were seeing was truly impressive and made the experience come alive. Returning to the bus was simple and well organized. One thing future visitors should know is that Pompeii involves a considerable amount of walking. The path from the bus parking area to the entrance is fairly long, and once inside, the ground is uneven and can be physically challenging. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. We had a few individuals who did not dress accordingly or were not in shape enough for the physical challenge and they had to bail out after holding up the group. Make sure to take water for the time inside the site as it gets hot and purchase options are limited inside the gates. Overall, this was an excellent tour, and the quality of the guides made it one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience the fascinating history of Pompeii.
