This experience was super low stress and easy! Our driver (Francesco) picked us up from our hotel and drove us straight to the entrance of Pompeii where our tour guide (Josephine) was waiting for us. Our tour guide was very friendly, especially to our daughters (6 & 7) years old. She made the tour very efficient and was very knowledgeable about Pompeii.

The pickup driver was a nice man but did not speak English well at all and no understanding of English. I had to call for his number to find out where he was. We were waiting in the pick up area and so many people we did not know where to go to find him. When I called him he was speaking a lot of Italian and took a long time to connect. He finally walked up to us after me giving him my location. He drove safely. Viator should automatically supply driver cell # and send English speaking driver. There was a communication issue on return as well. This is reason for 4 stars
I cannot say enough good things about our tour guide Paulo. So knowledgeable about Pompeii and made the tour great. Was also very kind. What a plus to be guided by someone who is actually an archaeologist and has a lot of experiencing giving tours. I highly recommend this tour. It was a lot of walking and uneven surfaces but worth it to see this historical place. Highly recommend.

Great tour. Guide was very knowledgeable and in the short time we were there, we saw all the highlights of Pompeii. I had no idea how big it was so if you really want to see all of it, I would do a longer tour but ours was perfect for our group of 11.

We had an excellent tour with Paolo, it was both informative and entertaining. We maintained a good pace which allowed us to cover many different areas, while also avoiding the crowds. The driver was prompt with both pickups and the van was comfortable and a nice reprieve from the heat. Paolo was waiting for us upon arrival with tickets in hand, allowing us to minimize the wait time when entering the park. Overall a great experience, private small group tour is the way to go.

What a wonderful experience. We had good communication with the driver before we were off the cruise ship. No trouble finding him once we were off the cruise ship. He was very kind and full of information. Once at Pompeii, our tour guide Josephine was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and full of interesting insights. We felt like we were with family. Our driver picked us up and took us to a great place for lunch at our request. I would highly recommend this private tour.

We had an excellent experience with this tour operator, they were on time picking us up at the port with a sign greeting us for easy contact. The vehicle was nice and A/C worked well. Our tour guide, Romulo, was an excellent and knowledgable guide. He answered all our questions, walked at our pace and the time flew by. We highly recommend this experience for your time in Pompeii.

The driver that picked us up was not friendly. He thought we had 4 people, I showed him our reservation was for 6. Our guide for Pompeii was outstanding!! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Paolo was terrific. He had been an archaeologist working at this site

What a wonderful experience! Our guide was knowledgeable but also funny and really tuned into our needs. It as hot and crowded the day we were there and he flawlessly guided us to less crowded but no less fabulous sites. His commentary really helped us understand the significance of where we were and what had happen on a human level.

Paolo is an incredible guide. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the history of Pompeii. We had limited time to get from the port of Naples down to Pompeii and back to Naples before catching a train to Rome. This service made the whole experience seamless. Highly recommended!

Our tour guide was fantastic. He had actually worked as an excavator in Pompeii. Very knowledgeable, knew how to navigate crowds, shared a lot of history pointing out the small details. Polo was great and I hope you can get him.

Josephine was a very good guide who spoke English well. The tour was informative and the guide was able to eliminate any waiting times/crowds. Overall tour was excellent. The driver had a comfortable sedan and was a good driver from our hotel. I would recommend tour but I do think it is a little overpriced for the time it takes

Gianluca (Driver) and Paul (Guide). We’re both amazing and so accommodating!
Gianluca had maneuvered himself to be just outside gate when we finally disembarked!
Paul promptly met us at Pompeii and gave us the inside track of seeing mist amazing sights with minimal crowds with history and language background!

Tour company provided a map with exact pick up point at the port and driver was on time. Celeste, our guide inside Pompeii, was fantastic. I had been to Pompeii before but she took us to both the newly excavated areas and some of the other notable highlights which gave us a great perspective on the many years of continuing discoveries within the archeological site. The drop off and pick up points at the city gates were planned to allowed us to see more with the time we had. Celeste is very pleasant, knowledgeable and seems passionate about the ongoing work being done to share the unique history of this amazing site.

Our Naples to Pompeii day was excellent. Our driver was timely, had a sign at the port and drove us directly. However he did not speak or understand English. I contacted Viator and our guide Josephine answered that she was waiting for us. Josie was so passionate about Pompeii and made our private tour for 15 interesting and fun. Very professional and her knowledge of Pompeii, the rooms and art so well explained.

Highly recommend this private tour of Pompeii. We were on a cruise stop and didn't want to do an excursion w/ the cruise line (and large groups) so we did this private tour. It was fantastic! Our kids (aged 13-16) loved it as well. It was easy to meet the driver at the cruise port terminal and we had him drop us off at a pizzaria that was within walking distance to the cruise port on the way back so we could get some Napoli Pizza then walked to the ship. It was great!

Romolo was our guide and he was nothing short of awesome! So many ‘fun facts’ that big tours didn’t get. I highly recommend booking this private tour as we saw many small and big tours with a guide speaking into a microphone and the visitors listening through an earpiece. This private tour allows for great conversation with the guide!
