Begin with a walking tour of the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, stopping to see the thermal baths, racy paintings in the Lupanare, the Basilica, Macellum (market square), and the formerly opulent residence known as the House of Faun. Your guide shares informative commentary about life in old Pompeii and the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.
After your time at the ruins, enjoy a delicious pizza lunch or wine tasting (option selected at checkout). Next up, rejoin your driver and travel up Mt. Vesuvius to 3,280 feet (1,000 meters). Disembark there and follow your guide up a winding path that leads to the top of the volcano (this is a moderately challenging walk). Peer into the volcano crater and learn about the geology of the volcano from a volcanologist guide.

Enjoyed a fascinating tour of Pompeii. Our guide on the tour bus, Concheta, was very helpful. When Mt Vesuvius was snowed in (a rare occasion) she offered alternatives for the rest of the afternoon. The guide in Pompeii was very knowledgeable and fun. We learned so much. Highly recommend this tour!

Thiomaso was great guide thru Pompeii. Mary was a wonderful tour guide and gave great info. Vesuvius was quite so make sure you wear the proper shoes..
Highly recommend! Our guide throughout the day handed us over to Tomas for our tour at Pompeii. He was very knowledgeable and knew how to get around the crazy parts as Pompeii can be very busy. The tour went seamlessly and felt quick and he made sure we got to see the whole city. Then our guide met us at our meeting point and then made our way to lunch at a restaurant which was very good and you have the option to ask for the real menu and pay à la carte if the lunch provided doesn’t suit you. From lunch, we made our way to Mt. Vesuvius. We did the hike to the crater, it’s uphill and can be challenging on a hot day but definitely something cool to experience and see! Highly recommend this tour.
Ila was awful. Didn’t make herself clear on meeting places. Not sure driver was too happy either. This tour needs better explanation of “seeing” Mt Vesuvius. No where does it say you will be walking a steep dirt path that is slippery to view it. We never made it to the top ages 65-82.
Also the guide at Pompeii was terrible. She spoke very broken English and didn’t speak loud enough for our group of 12 to hear her. Also, we did not have any time to stop and take pictures. If you really want to see this site, be sure your guide speaks pretty good English.
So the lunch is a joke . This tour cost $315 and $100 of it goes to Bruscetta, spaghetti you could make better at your house (non authentic) and a weird angel food cake whip cream creation not of Italian origin. Pompeii is very very rushed you need about 4 hours to see the whole city but only get 2 hours with a guide that shows you maybe 10-15 spots (like a sex room). Our favorite was on our own Mount Vesuvius. The drive up was great and the walk to the top and around the crater was also nice . I would say you have 1 hour transportation, 1 hour lunch , 2 hour Mount Vesuvius , 2 hour Pompeii visit . The driver was nice (it was his birthday) and the tour guide of the bus was also Italian charming lady . I definitely would not do it again but glad I saw it at least once . Next time I will get my own ticket to Pompeii and the maybe go see sorento , isle of capri or Cinque Terra or Amalfi coast …
We really enjoyed our tour!! Pompii was amazing to see, lunch was delicious, and hiking to the top of Mount Vesuvius was a great way to end a wonderful day of exploring!!
Nina at pick up is great. She spoke English and French when describing what we would be doing, pointing out different things on the drive to Pompeii, Lunch, and Vesuvio. The bus driver was great as well. We felt safe getting to and from each location.
The separate tour guide at Pompeii left a lot to be desired. The tour guide was a shorter lady who blended in with the crowds of people. She did not carry anything like an umbrella or something that would make her stand out. Once we entered Pompeii we encountered long pauses where you could just hear the tour guide breathing. At a point the tour guide left 7 of the 18 person group in a crowded area. Luckily a family got separated and someone was able to call there sister to track down the remainder of the group. Other tour guides were joking that we had the world's worst tour guide and how do you just lose half of your group. The long pauses in between describing what we were walking past was frustrating as we could see other tour guides near by talking a lot more frequently.
We booked this tour because we wanted to climb Vesuvio and that is what we did. If you do not stop for any breaks it takes about 20 at
minutes at a walking pace to get to the top from where the bus drops you off. Their is no tour guide when climbing the volcano but you really do not need one for that.
Lunch was great
You have one drink, brushetta, spaghetti, and lemon cake included.
We came in with a cruise that was at port from 7am to 7pm and made if back around 425pm. Nina and the bus driver did a great job getting us where we needed to go and keeping us on time. I would recommend this tour. Hopefully the separate tour guide we had at Pompeii just had a bad day.
They did a nice job of fitting a lot into a day. We booked this because we wanted to do quite a bit in a single day, and we wouldn't manage it on public transportation and without guidance.

Lunch was very nice - far better than what most tours provide, in our experience. Good food, courteous service, in a restaurant on the side of Vesuvius with a beautiful view.
And, yes - visiting Pompeii and Vesuvius was worth the time and effort!!
Do not get me wrong going to Pompeii and climbing Mount Vesuvius were incredible experiences. The tour and guide portion was average. The pick up was very hectic and poorly organized. Luckily 6 of us found each other and just stuck together until our guide picked us up. Our guide told us some nice facts for some of the 20 min drive but then it was a different person who did our guide of Pompeii. That part was great he showed us all the sights in Pompeii. Then we went to lunch which was good. You got a drink, bruschetta, pasta and a small piece of cake (itinerary says pizza lunch FYI). Then we drove to Mount Vesuvius where the road was quite windy and the bus driver did drive fast up and down the roads. At some points the turns were taken so hard that the bottom of the bus was bottoming out and you could smell me material skidding on the road. Once you got to Mount Vesuvius the guide basically dropped us off in the parking lot and said be back in 2 hours. So we just hiked up and back but there was not a guided portion of that. (Which I thought was weird since the picture for this tour is a guide on the Mount Vesuvius climb and it is on the itinerary that they guide would guide you). Overall the things we did were very cool and it was nice to be bussed around but the tour guide group didn’t necessarily add to the experience.
It was definitely a tough hike up there. Lunch was fantastic. Our driver Girardo V and Tour Coordinator Connie were wonderful. The only issue, the tour guide in Pompeii went so fast to show us as much as he could, I understand that, but I would have liked to stay a minute or 2 longer in some of those stops to take pictures & to absorb it all. There were many many places to take pictures and get inspired, just wish we could have showed it down a tad, I felt rushed. He did do a great job of telling us many things about the city.
Mt Vesuvius: tough climb, but oh so worth it.
Imma and Remi were great! Very good at explaining the history! The archeologist at Pompeii was amazing, so funny and sweet to make sure everyone stayed together and saw everything! A little more time at Pompeii would have been nice but we still saw a lot! Mt Vesuvius was amazing! The lunch we had the restaurant the food was incredible, local food, wine, and the staff were so friendly! Mt Vesuvius was beautiful! Not too hard of a hike up and amazing views!
This tour was a perfect mix of history & getting exercise. The ruins of Pompeii are amazing & the Mt Vesuvius climb was challenging yet worth the breathtaking view. Andrea was an excellent guide. My husband & I have been on many tours & her attention to detail & friendliness was the best we've experienced. She is so sweet & willing to go the extra mile to accommodate all of us. We felt very safe with our driver & he kept us on time every step of the way. Thank you both so much for your professional service. We will continue to use Viator for our excursions.
We had a great time! Comfortable bus ride, great tour of Pompeii, delicious spaghetti lunch, and nice hike up to the top of Mt Vesuvius! Our guides were fun and everything was so well organized.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The bus picked us up on time at our meeting point in Naples. Half of the group spoke English, the other half spoke French. Our tour leader split us in 2 groups by language and we had a specialized guide to tour us through Pompeii ruins (roughly 15 people in this group). We then stopped for a delicious lunch at a nearby restaurant before continuing on to Mt. Vesuvius. Our tour leader, Giovanni, was with us for the bus but we were given 2 hours of free time to hike to the crater on our own, which was fine as you don’t need a guide for this - there is an obvious gravel trail. It was a moderate hike that took about 40 mins one way. We were returned to our meeting point slightly after the scheduled time due to Naples traffic, which was no big deal. Overall was an organized, thorough tour! Giovanni was a great leader and communicated with us in advance via WhatsApp to confirm my wife’s food allergy. The driver, also Giovanni, was a very good driver navigating the tight and busy streets of Naples and the switchbacks up to Mt. Vesuvius!
Bring water as there is very little shade. And wear the correct shoes - the trail up Vesuvius is very well worn.
Giuseppe and Clemente were great, we had a very fun trip. Would totally recommend this tour. Easy pick up and great narration while traveling in bus.Time in Pompei was short, only had time to get a very basic look, there was an option to skip lunch and explore more but sustenance was necessary for Vesuvius.

Francisco and Bruno did an amazing job to help us get to Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius! It was super smooth and no hiccups whatsoever! I would give mayhem a 6 out 5 stars if I could! And Nina our guide for inside Pompeii was so through with giving us answers to all our questions! I’ve learned so much from her tour!

Salvatore welcomed me, and brought me to Ferdinando, the driver. Nina showed us around Pompeii before the excellent lunch at a restaurant with an amazing panoramic view over Naples. After lunch we where brought to Vesuvius, and where given ample time to summit. Overall a great time
5 STAR! I would rate it 10 stars if i could! One of the best tours super nice guides especially Ana! She was very nice to talk to and conversant with.
Ana was great organizing everything and the tour was fun. I think the heat we experienced really didn't help...
We also may have booked the wrong tour because going to the old crater means you don't see the active volcano crater. The hike we took was beautiful but a lot of us were disappointed that we didn't book the other tour to go to the top to see the new crater. The old crater is dormant and just covered in trees and greenery but you do get a nice view of Naples below.
The organized lunch was very good and the guide we had at Pompeii was great. He was very knowledgeable. Again, I think we would have enjoyed it more if the heat wasn't so bad but we saw a lot and learned a lot from our guide.
Well organised tour. Maria took great care of us all day, and Sharon really brought Pompeii to life within a span of two hours. Lino the driver brought us up and down Vesuvius without us getting sick despite the curvy roads.
Prepare for some serious walking in Pompeii and a short, but steep ascent to see Vesuvius. But the views make it worthwile. The guides were great. Salvatore was particularly charismatic, knowledgeable and helpful.
The excursion was fantastic. Everything was very well organized. Mery was a very enthusiastic tour guide who was genuinely committed to our group having a great experience. I would highly recommend this excursion again.
We had an awesome tour of Pompeii and mount Vesuvius. Transport was on time, with the day being very organised and well run. Tour of Pompeii was brilliant, with the guide being incredibly knowledgable about the city - our two boys were captivated. Enjoyable lunch and get commentary on our journey in the mini bus - sharing information and noting things that we passed which we would have missed without a guide.
Flora snd our guide in pompeii were excellent. I think his name was Adriano. Very good humour.
