Our guide Clemente gave us a great tour of Naples, covering many historic sites accompanied by interesting facts and stories. We were a few minutes late due to the notoriously chaotic Neapolitan traffic, but thankfully the group waited for us.

Make your own way to a central meeting point to meet your art historian guide.

Your guide leads you along the Greek streets of Naples and shows you the underground excavations that date to ancient Rome. Continue to Piazza del Gesù, Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, San Gregorio Armeno market, and see typical shops and the Baroque-style Cathedral. Your guide explains the Pagan and Christian influences that remain a characteristic of the present day and can be noted in some of the landmarks you pass.

Experience Neapolitan culture in the narrow streets, and have one hour on your own to browse the shops and purchase a treat for lunch. Feel free to ask your guide for recommendations.

After lunch, view the Theater of San Carlo, a medieval castle that holds one of the world's best neoclassical theaters. Nearby, check out the inside of the Galleria Umberto shopping center, then stroll along the historical Via Toledo and Piazza Plebiscito.

Your tour ends back where it began, at Municipio Square.

City & Underground Tour

The guide was very informative and nice. She gave us plenty of time to take pictures and look at the historical sites. The only down side was it was a mixed group of English & Spanish so it took longer because she had to say everything twice. We would have preferred to just have had English.

Lorenzo, was very friendly, patient, and kind. He has a nice smile and helpful attitude. As an American, in Napoli, I was not familiar with paying to use the toilet. Lorenzo was kind enough to lend me local currency to “do my business”👍🤣. As a US tour guide myself, i would have liked more history and context, but given the time, sites, visited, language and distance covered. We received a good informational tour. Thanks Lorenzo…. False Start

Our walking tour started badly, when we couldn't find the starting point by address or on google maps link despite the fact that we arrived very early. Thankfully the guide called us to direct us to the NEW starting point explaining that Viator was an agent not the operator and that we had been sent messages by text and email of the change. We trawled through all messages and found that we had not been contacted by any method. Once the tour got going and we had given our embarrassed apologies to others it was fine, our guide Paula was enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

Walking Tour of Naples

Met Diane at a meeting point close to the Cruise Terminal, fairly close to our hotel. Diane is an informative guide and we had a full value morning in her company, lots of interesting sites and information. Tour is approximately 4 miles in length and includes stairs so I wouldn't recommend for anyone who needs assistance with walking. Diane speaks several languages and her English was excellent. Occasionally a little difficult to hear when then was a lot of background noise but this didn't detract from the overall tour. Would benefit from Bluetooth earpieces perhaps? Would certainly recommend the tour and Diane was more than willing to impart her knowledge of the City and its history.

A fantastic introduction to Naples

We took this tour on our first day in Naples, and we are so glad we did. It was like a 'rough guide' to Naples, led by our charming local guide, Lorenzo. We would never have found all the amazing spots he took us to, and thanks to all his tips and knowledge, we were really able to make the most of our 3 days in Naples. Lorenzo skillfully managed to be attentive and informative, but gave us space and time to enjoy the landmarks along the way. He also managed to subtly work in several toilet breaks, as a lady, I really appreciated that. The highlight for us was the underground market, but we loved everything he took us to on the way. Naples is a buzzy, raw, historic, beautiful and energetic city, best seen through the eyes of someone who truly knows and loves it, and then you will get the best of it.

Pauola is an excellent guide. We were the only 2 travelers in this group. It pointed out important landmarks and included a tour of one of the underground ruins. You need to go back on your own to see inside the palace, opera house and museums but I recommend this tour to get acquainted with Naples

Walking tour of Naples over cobblestones. There is a subway ride for 2 stops where you go under sea level. It does include a restroom stop by the archaeological site ( end of tour). Our guide Mariana was excellent (and multilingual). We had a tour member that was a challenge to deal with , but Mariana handled this with grace and a smile despite feeling frustrated.

This was a perfect tour of Naples where we saw most of the important sites, including a short ride on the metro. Our tour guide Nanzia was knowledgeable and friendly. We had Spanish speaking and English speaking guests on the tour so we did need to wait for her to translate to the other guests. There were a few breaks to use the restroom but not time to get any food, so best to eat before and expect to have lunch after the 4 hour tour.

Wonderful way to learn about Naples. Our tour guide, Roberta, was wonderful and had so much knowledge. We could tell she was passionate about Naples and the history of her city. Lots of walking (which we loved), quick ride on the metro (which Roberta guided us through). This is a must if you want to learn about the history.

Quite a good experience. Lots of walking which was very enjoyable. Visited many locations and gained a lot of knowledge from our guide Nina. Also had a short ride on the metro (2 stops). We think the best and most interesting part of the walk was the underground tunnels of ruins dating back as far as 2500 years. We also had the added lunch option and the restaurant ,meal and service was amazing.

There is a lot of walking but you get to see a lot of Naples. The guide was very good she was funny and informative and easy to understand. The underground Roman ruins were an extra bonus.
