I chose this tour because it provided the opportunity for two ruin sites Pompeii and Herculaneum. We were given two hours at each site which I thought was adequate to get a feel for both locations. We were then given ample time to hike up to the top of.Vesuvius. The driver also arranged for a table reservation, so we were able to relax and have a nice lunch. Our driver Caesar was absolutely excellent. He communicated through WhatsApp for the initial meet up time. He also then messaged us with each pick up time with a photo of the meeting point and a map. This was particularly helpful at Pompeii as it’s a very large area and the entrance and exit is not exactly in the same place. He did a nice job of coordinating everything and was very timely.

Pros- See all three Sites with a fair amount of time to tour around, Hercalneum can definitely be seen in 2hrs and is incredibly organic feeling as a historical site, Vesuvius is a bucket list must see!!, Pompeii is filled with history and requires multiple visits, Quality Driver (David) who has Water and teaches you Italian!, Was back at just past the 8hr mark which is great timing considering the Cruise Ship departures and the commuting between sites. Cons- I was told to buy a Pompeii ticket ahead of time but was given the wrong time for the ticket(only reason for 4/5), Not enough time to fully experience Pompeii, Makes you wanna go to Vesuvius and Pompeii again and spend hours longer at the sites, During heavy tourist season may not be the best for cruise ship excursions unless you have a 5:30pm or later departure.

This is NOT a guided tour of the sites which left us a bit disappointed. Hence rating 4 out of 5 stars for this experience. Also of note the only ticket included in the price is that of Vesuvius. One has to buy tickets to Pompeii and Herculaneum. That being said we were happy to have Cesare drive us around. He was punctual, friendly and helpful. He was very competent maneuvering the chaotic traffic and roads from the meeting point to the sites and back. He dropped us to each site and gave us an allotted time to self tour each site. We felt there was not enough time to see Pompeii. Time allowed for Vesuvius and Herculaneum was perfect. These sites are truly beyond imagination and a must see for all. Another highlight we appreciated was the restaurant suggestion and reservation once we agreed for lunch which was recommended by Cesare.

It is s lot of walking. The hike to mount Vesuvius is challenging. No time given for lunch and no lunch provided. Over priced as it did not include entry fee into the attractions except Mt. Vesuvius. Otherwise, the sites were all amazing.

We did not have a guide but a driver who told us some info but only in the van. We were not offered water until last stop on trip.lunch time was not designated, had to use some of Pompeii time. Not enough time designated for Pompeii. Saw lots of wonderful things but not full 8 hours. Not what I expected and not up to other Viators that I have taken.

This is NOT a tour. There were four of us on this excursion. I was traveling alone and the other three were friends (a husband & wife along with a widowed woman who had been married to one of the husband's co-workers). All of us are 60+. All of us had been on other Viator curated tours and we were expecting that our driver (who was delightful) would also be leading us through Herculaneum, Pompeii and up Vesuvius. However, he was merely a driver and we had to pay admission to each location and go through on our own. We could have joined guided tours with others led by staff members at the parks, however, we did not have the time for that so we had to pull up apps and guide ourselves. We all felt we were sold a bill of goods. It was a lot of money to pay for a chauffeur. Very disappointing and Viator should have made certain that ALL we were getting was transportation . . . not a tour.

We had a good hike to the crater of Mt. Vesuvius with a beautiful view of Naples, the crater, the country side, Sorrento and Capri. The ruins of Herculaneum and Pompeii were incredible.

Guests have a number of extra things they need to pay for on this tour: entrance fees and actual guidance at sites.
There is NO guidance provided when you go through any sites—you’re on your own unless you pay for a guide at Pompeii, which you really need.
This particular excursion organization should include additional services so that the day is more edifying, seamless, and efficiently run.

Best choice if you stay in Napoli for a couple of days. You will not have enough time to explore all Herculaneum and Pompei however if you try to visit all locations yourself, you will not make it in one day. It is a bargain, highly recomended.

Bad, because we had NO tour guide at Herculum, Pompei or Vesuvius AND we were on our own AND we had to pay admission for Herculum and Pompei. We could have rented a car for the day and done this ourselves for way less that $382.00. This is bull....

Polly and Alfredo were great, they made sure it was super stress free getting to all of our destinations and making sure we had enough time to tour each of the historic sites. Plus we got to stop at a super cute shop on the side of the road to freshen up and taste some Lemoncello.

Our guide, Giovanni and driver, Carmine did an excellent job with our tour. They were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating to our requirements.
We did feel the time spent in Pompeii would have been much better if we had more time at the ruins and if we had a guide that stayed with us while in the ruins. We were given a complex map and very general instructions and were left on our own. We didn’t get to see the petrified people at all due to the short time we were there and the time we spent navigating through the huge complex. However we definitely recommend visiting the ruins.

We thought by the description we would have a tour guide at the sites and that was not the case. The guide who was very nice only stayed with us on the bus. We had a small group and others on our bus had the same expectation of this tour but we're very disappointed

One in a million experience. Mary, our tour guide, was very informative. For our short stay in Naples, this tour is worth every minute of our time and every penny. The pick up and drop off were smooth and well-organized. The 3 sites we visited are worth-remembering through our lifetime. Very good tour and good driver specially if you are short of time and need to combine many sights in one day. Pompeii is very big so I had to rush to see it but I also wanted to see Vesuvius park and Herculaneum on the same day so this tour really met my expectations. I recommend it.

Polly and Enzo gave us such a memorable day! From the moment they picked us up at our hotel, everything was smooth and enjoyable. On the ride to Herculaneum, Polly kept us engaged with fascinating stories and history, making the drive itself part of the experience. While we couldn’t visit Mount Vesuvius due to fires, the change of plans brought us to Sorrento instead, where we had a delicious lunch, a giant lemon sorbet, and small tastings of limoncello, cookies, and candies—all while learning so much from Polly about the local culture and agriculture. Our day ended in Pompeii, which was a devastatingly beautiful experience, made even more meaningful with Polly’s insights. Enzo was a fantastic driver, navigating the day with ease and comfort. Together, they made our tour unforgettable, and we can’t recommend them enough!

The trip leader Rosita was helpful and responsible. Very friendly and punctual with the time she specified to meet up. She gave extra water bottle on the way back to the cruise terminal on a very hot day after the Pompeii visit. Very grateful. The driver Raffael drives very safely, always has safety in mind. They both are wonderful.

I would like to start by saying the trip was most enjoyable and our driver David was delightful, but beware......
The cost of this tour is Euro 216 for 2 travellers but all this actually delivers is a van with driver and entry to Vesuvius National Park. Additional charges include entry to Herculaneum - Euros 16.00 per person, Guide if desired another Euros 20, entry to Pompeii Euros 20 per person plus another Euros 25 pp for a guide plus lunch which we felt obligated to take (as we were a small group in the van) which ended up costing another Euros 38 per person and suddenly what seemed a reasonable tour had become a very expensive one.
Total expenditure for the day including parking cost us over Euros 470. more than double the cost advertised.
The trip was great and very enjoyable but don't be influenced by the seemingly low entry cost because it bears no relationship to what you will end up paying.
I suspect if we had travelled independently to the three locations and had made our own arrangements we would have been economically far better off!!!

I’m giving it 5 stars for our driver - he was amazing. Just make sure you read all the fine print and know there are additional fees. It is essentially a wonderful driver with tickets to Vesuvius. You will need to book tickets to Herculeanum and Pompeii and book your own guide or tour that matches the pick up and drop off times for this tour group.

The driver was very nice and competent. Our issue is that he didn't have the necessary tickets. The tickets he did bring didn't match the names of those in the group. We were stopped when entering Pompeii because our ticket name did not match our I.D. Not a good experience.

Great way to see Herculaneum, Pompeii, and Mt. Vesuvius. Luigi and Sergio were friendly and helpful guide/driver. We liked the convenience of being transported between sites and the freedom to do our own thing at each site. Don’t forget to buy tickets for Herculaneum and Pompeii separately (as advertised), as the tour price only includes entry to Mt. Vesuvius. Would recommend this tour.

Vinny was a great driver and guide that made our trip a memorable one. Due to windy weather, we were not able to hike Vesuvius. I am grateful that Vinny was able to quickly pivot and instead book us for a wonderful lunch and wine tasting at Bosco de Medici.

Need to be in shape to climb Mont Vésuve. Would be nice to have the cell phone of the guide in case something happens. Is is mentionned on the Viator web site but remember that the guide provides information only during travel in the minivan; the guide does not come with us at Pompei and Herculeum. Otherwise, the guide was very friendly and provided a lot of information.

Cesar our "driver/guide" was informative, kind and helpful..Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius amazing sites. Be prepared for a ton of walking! The climb to the top of Mt. Vesuvius is a bit challenging.
The only other tip I have is to get your Pompeii tickets immediately after booking. It isn't explained well in the description but you have to get them on your own from their website and spaces are limited daily. I didn't get that info until the night before the trip and was lucky to be there early to get in. Walking up and hoping is very stressful.

Our tour guide - Luca - was a laugh a minute and the highlight of the day. 😂 He was very knowledgeable and had a humorous way of telling stories about history and life in Italy. Luca was punctual and easy to contact / responsive.
Each location was a great experience and enough time to explore. You need to be a self-starter - you’re not guided around each place - but we were happy to do that at our own pace.
