As the name suggests, it is a hunt, which, with bad luck, may not be successful, but the thrill of looking out and chasing holes in the clouds while waiting for the lights can be an experience in itself. Remember to dress accordingly. Even though there are paths, sturdy shoes are advisable since they can be very slippery in winter, hence the name Iceland. A wind- and waterproof outer layer is also always a good idea over a warm layer, as you may be outside for a while waiting for the lights to show and, of course, walking between the tectonic plates.

Al (“just call me Al” because real Icelandic name was unpronounceable for we amateurs!) was a terrific driver/guide. Shared his vast knowledge and wit. We had the perfect amount of time at each stop on the Golden Circle route. He kept us well-informed about the timings at every stop. Great Tour!

If you’re coming off a cruise that needs to tender to the dock, PLEASE plan that you will probably NOT get off the boat right away. Cruise lines let their shore excursions off first. We got our tender ticket early and still had to wait about an hour until we could get off the ship. Luckily we made it in time, but many people didn’t. This in no way detracted from this tour, just a heads up when scheduling your tour time and get your tickets for the tender EARLY! This was a wonderful tour. Our guide Tanya and driver T.P. were excellent. Stuðlagil Canyon was beautiful. Just a fair warning, if you take the stairs, there are 239 of them. Each way. You can take an inclined walkway as another option. There is a small place that sells food/drinks but plan to spend some time in line. Also, when we arrived in the parking lot and everyone got off the bus, the restrooms were packed! By the time I made it up the stairs, the line was much better. We stopped by a couple waterfalls which were amazing. I definitely recommend this excursion!

Informative short tour

An informative short tour with approximately 50 minutes to spend at the waterfall and a short photo stop at a viewpoint on the way back. The route back was different to the one going, which made it more interesting. The waterfall is stunning (and no climbing needed to get to it) and the guide was very good.

Maria, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and informative when it came to Icelandic history & folklore as well as the wildlife and geography of the areas we stopped at. Check off for a bucket list and Gummi was amazing!

One of the things on my bucket list is seeing the northern lights. Despite the perfect weather for our tour, the activity wasn’t as strong to see with the naked eye. But what made it great was tour guide Gummi G. He was super knowledgeable about the northern lights and explained so many various aspects about it. For sure, he did his best to track the biggest light activity and driving around to those spots. Took beautiful scenic photos but be warn you need to stay still for 15 seconds to capture the northern lights! So hold that smile. We were a smaller group and it was a great tour with wool blankets & hot chocolate to keep you warm, and an Icelandic pastry. Also this company is good at communicating pickup info. Would definitely recommend and hope that you get Gummi as your tour guide!!

Lagoon experience was amazing. Bius Tickets - we and the transport staff were however unclear where to get paper/device tickets transferred but bus staff and lagoon staff proved helpful. It was unclear what the correct bus company was, even with barcode in hand. Some improved instructions on the confirmation would be useful but regardless, of the hiccup, staff were lovely and very helpful, it was an amazing experience once we got there. It would have only been better if the bus operators weren’t confused by whose bus we should be on. The confirmation didn’t state the bus company and provide the correct references. Both bus drivers were very confused. Paperwork info needs broadening to include bus company details in case of issue. So please check with the operator before you leave and get written confirmation details . We wasted a good half an hour - 15 mins both ends, with people not knowing if we were there customers. This meant we kept getting moved from one bus to another by drivers. It was slightly embarrassing.

We had an amazing day on this trip, all of the places we visited were good, especially the Secret lagoon, the waterfall was brilliant. A big thank you to Tomek the bus driver who made it a very smooth ride and coped better with an icy car park better than anyone here would ever do. Our guide Gergo was very informative and fun, would love to return to Iceland and maybe do another trip with Bus Travel Iceland, very organised.

Awe-inspiring whale-sighting adventure!!

Wow, what a great way to stay awake on our first day in Iceland after an overnight flight! Our guide was fantastic and very patient/helpful. After a very long (maybe 30 min one way?) and extremely choppy ride way out off shore, we finally had our first whale sightings, and they just kept coming! We even saw two whales breach at the same time —awe-inspiring! I highly recommend this tour but will say the choppy/rough ride is something to consider (as they warn) if you have older people in your party. But we are so glad we did it!!
