What are people saying about Iceland

My favorite Iceland experience
Out of the five different tours I did while traveling around the coast of Iceland I can honestly say this was by far my favorite. It was me and my nine year old daughter. The family that runs the farm were kind and friendly. Made us feel perfectly at home and safe. The horses were beautiful and you could tell how loved they all were. The ride was peaceful and the scenery was breathtaking. If I had another day there I would’ve done it again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic day on horseback!
If you are a beginner, they will take good care of you. The horses were well behaved, the trail was beautiful: through fields of lupines and through red, rocky lava fields. The path was smooth and easy to navigate. Ilsa picked us up and did our tour: she was warm and friendly! She took pictures of us too so which we appreciated!

Snackish
The tour guides are super sweet, kind, and very knowledgeable. The horses were well trained, beautiful, and easy going. Mine whose name I cannot pronounce without messing it up was an absolute Joy( his name in English). He was a bit dramatic, snackish, and a big sweetheart. He kept sneaking snacks of the grass as we passed by. The guides taught me how to redirect him to back on track. If you want a fun activity for all ages this is it.

An enjoyable experience
A fun experience for someone who only gets to ride a horse on vacations! Not a long ride and didn’t see anything more than one could see on foot, but enjoyed it. Got a chance to “tolt”. Mounting the horse was a bit intimidating, especially dressed in bulky layers that included rain pants, but did it without embarrassing myself!

Highly recommend great writing experience
This was an awesome experience. My guide was very experienced and helpful. The horses are friendly and not just the type of horse that follows the tail in front of them. They're a little bit independent. Great riding experience. Highly recommend them.

They provide rain gear...
They provide rain gear and riding suits. Just make sure you dress for the weather underneath. This is also a perfect experience for someone with little to no riding experience. I haven’t ridden horses in over 30 years and they make sure you feel comfortable.

Excellent your
Absolutely brilliant! Guides make you feel at ease (especially as someone very nervous around horses). Begins with being given a horse based on experience, make some time to befriend your horse before getting on and setting off! Start at a steady walk and then splits into two groups one steady and the other faster
Guides are very knowledgeable and tell you all about the majestic Icelandic horses and the lava field you travel across with lots of photo opportunities

Horseback Riding in Iceland - A Dream Come True
Horseback riding in Iceland was, without a doubt, one of the most unforgettable highlights of my trip. As someone who had never ridden a horse before, I approached the experience with a mix of excitement and nerves. Climbing onto the back of an Icelandic horse felt like stepping far outside my comfort zone—but what a beautiful leap it turned out to be.
The first few steps were thrilling and a little scary. I could feel every movement, unsure of what to expect. But almost instantly, something shifted. My horse—gentle, patient, and incredibly intuitive—seemed to sense my apprehension. I kept whispering to her, “Please be careful with me, this is my first time,” and somehow, I truly believe she understood. Her calm demeanor helped me relax, and soon I was riding with a sense of peace and joy I hadn’t anticipated.
Icelandic horses are perfect for beginners. They’re not too tall, which makes mounting and riding feel more approachable, and their famously smooth gait—the tölt—makes the ride incredibly comfortable. But more than that, they have a quiet strength and kindness that makes you feel safe.
I fell in love with my horse that day. She carried me through Iceland’s stunning landscapes with grace and patience, and gave me a memory I’ll treasure for the rest of my life. If you’re considering horseback riding in Iceland—even if you’ve never ridden before—don’t hesitate. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that will stay with you forever.
