What are people saying about Iceland

Whale watching from Reykjavík.
Although the weather was not the best as it was a rainy day but the trip was worth it . We saw a number of whales and we were able to capture those wonderful moments. My children appreciated seeing whales in their natural habitats and the experience was surreal. The crew members were amazing . I will surely recommend the activity.

The best whale watching tour I’ve experienced
I almost didn’t book this tour—it was a last-minute addition to my Reykjavík itinerary—but it ended up being one of the highlights of my Iceland trip. I specifically chose the 12-passenger RIB speedboat over one of the larger whale watching boats because I liked the idea of a smaller group, being closer to the water, and the ability to quickly reposition if wildlife was spotted elsewhere. It proved to be the right decision. Check-in was friendly and efficient, all of the cold-weather gear was provided (including a very useful neck gaiter), and the crew even offered complimentary seasickness remedies before departure. Our guide, Christina, was knowledgeable and engaging discussing about Iceland’s marine wildlife. We saw puffins, several humpback whales, playful white-beaked dolphins, and had an unforgettable moment when a humpback surfaced just a few meters from the boat. This was easily the best whale watching tour I’ve experienced. I’d book this tour again without hesitation.

Even though they gave us seasick pills when we boarded the ship I was terribly ill through most of the tour. I spent most of the time being sick in the restroom but the staff was extremely helpful, friendly, concerned and caring and if it wasn't for them I would have never made it to the end. I didn't get to see all the whales that appeared but my husband did and he had a wonderful time. He saw lots of whales and the captain was very accommodating moving towards the whales. So overall my advice would be have nothing to eat or drink before going on a trip like this to limit the time you may be sick.

Great trip with a great guide
Had a great time doing this whale watching excursion. We were lucky enough to see one whale breach and two whale tails. The breach happened so fast that nobody was able to get a picture of it, but it was still amazing to see it. My only advice is to always be prepared to grab on to a handle bar or just hold on the entire time because once a whale is spotted, the captain will get that boat to it FAST. lol!

Many whale species—including minke and humpback whales—travel to the cool waters of Iceland in the summertime. Iceland whale-watching tours maximize your chance of spotting the marine creatures and result in some incredible photos and memories. Choose from cruises aboard spacious yachts or more intimate boats staffed with trained naturalists who can explain more about the biology and behavior of the animals.
