Beautiful scenery even with the bad weather we had! Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and had plenty stories and facts for us! It is a less touristy part of Iceland but we'll worth the visit... so much to see and much less crowded. Highly recommended!

This tour was exceptional. Hannes was a great guide. He spoke clearly and his storytelling was easy to follow. We made numerous stops in the 11 hour ride that were all different and so very beautiful. Long day but well worth it. Highly recommend!!!

Itinerary

Meet your driver at your hotel (additional cost) or from a central point in Reykjavik, then begin the 93-mile (150-km) trip to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, a tranquil retreat from the bustling city. The first stop of the day is the Berserkjahraun lava fields that were formed over 4,000 years ago.

Then drive to Kirkjufell, a mountain peak whose name means "Church Mountain," and looms behind the scenic waterfalls at the base.

As you drive, spot Snæfellsjökull dominating the horizon, and enjoy views of the ancient stratovolcano, which is capped with a glacier. Stop at the Londrangar viewpoint to admire the rock formations.

Continue to the small fishing village of Arnarstapi for a walk along the sea cliffs and learn about the history of the Vikings.

Stop at the black sand beach of Djupalónssandur, where the rock is worn smooth by countless waves, to learn about its rich history.

Finally, begin the return trip to Reykjavik, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your original departure point.

This is a must do trip.

Shamela_D, May 2026
Let me tell you, I was blown away by the natural beauty of snaefellsnes. I did the south coast but this is one is just as good especially if you are a game of thrones fan the kirkjufell mountain is a beauty. The van was very comfortable, Axel our driver was very friendly and informative and the tour didn't feel like a long drive, because there was so much to see and so many stops to make.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day. Kalman was a knowledgeable and friendly guide. He stopped for many photo opportunities and plenty of food/toilet breaks.

Easy day trip with iconic Icelandic scenery

Shayne_D, Apr 2026
If you don't want to drive take this tour to see some of Iceland's most beautiful scenery. Easy day trip from Reykjavik. And not nearly as crowded as some other day tours. Worth it!

Amazing tour guide

Kayla_N, Apr 2026
Our tour guide was absolutely amazing. The tour was planned out perfectly and he even gave us an extra stop for more pictures. 10/10 would recommend

I've been on a couple of tours around Iceland now and would definitely say that this one is the best. The scenery on the peninsula is absolutely breathtaking and every stop was so worth it, but we especially loved Ytri Tunga, where we were lucky enough to see some seals on the rocks and playing in the water. Our guide, Gulli, was friendly and engaging and kept us entertained the whole way round which is quite a feat with all the driving! Would highly recommend taking this tour :)

Graet Trip

Leena_S, Apr 2026
The one day trip was fantastic. Our guide was wonderful and knowledgeable. He took us to the spot where we could see the seals and gave information about the places that we were visiting. All the places were very beautiful and worth visiting.

Great day out and such an experienced tour guide. Guiseppe was so knowledgeable. We visited so many places.

This was an amazing tour!...

DONNA_O, Apr 2026
This was an amazing tour! Our bus driver (Dean) handled the snowy road conditions like a pro, and our tour guide (Anna) was THE BEST tour guide we have ever had in all of our many tours throughout the globe. It was an incredibly informative, interesting, enjoyable, and scenic trip…Takk Fyrir!

Weather is unpredictable. Be ready for heavy wind and chill. But the views are well worth it. Our guide was excellent and made the long drive more entertaining. Definitely great experience.

A long day with some incredible scenery. Unlike any other landscapes I've seen before. Phillipe our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The driver was excellent in some tricky conditions also. Would recommend but maybe jot if you have kids that get bored easily

Travelling with a 2 year old on bus tours in Iceland

Mai_W, Mar 2026
We are a couple from the UK with a two year old child. What you need to know is to get on the bus tours here the child needs to be two years old + and they need to have a car seat which we brought with us, as the request for a seat doesn’t translate to the bus turning up with one. No car seat, no bus tour. Bus stop 12 is also pandemonium first thing in the morning which is overwhelming however once we located the right bus things got better. Our tour guide was called Tom and he was friendly, welcoming and liked to have a bit of fun which certainly made the day lively! He warned us the tour was a long day, which we had already seen, and that lunch would be on the go, so if you want to budget a little bring food and snacks for the day with you, although he does stop first thing to let you pick bits up from a petrol station. The day is crammed with things to see and Tom tells tails along the way which is mixed with some upbeat lively music. He also takes relatively regular toilet stops for those like me who like to know there’s a rest room nearby! I would recommend this guide and if you want to cram lots of things in this tour.

Enjoyed this tour of the Peninsula. Our driver, Captain Mike and guide, Emily were both very good. Beautiful part of Iceland.

The stops were beautiful!...

Nicole_S, Mar 2026
The stops were beautiful! Our tour guide and driver were amazing! As expected, it was a long day and ended later than expected due to poor winter weather/road conditions. I would try not to book any evening/Northern Lights tour afterwards as you risk not making it.

Great day trip

Max_S, Mar 2026
Such a beautiful and fun first day in Iceland!!! Thor was an absolute blast and made us laugh the entire trip. Would highly recommend this one!!!

Horrible experience

Kristin_C, Feb 2026
This trip should have been canceled by the tour operator due to weather forecast and conditions. I completely understand that no one can control the weather, but tour operators should look at the forecast and if a snowstorm is going to hit during the planned outing, where whiteout conditions occur, the tour should be canceled. Unfortunately that did not happen and all we got to see was the seal beach briefly and a hurried stop at the black church as that is when the nasty weather moved in and it was whiteout conditions for the next 8-9 hours. The tour driver, Alain, was knowledgeable, however he just kept repeating all day long “if you look out your window you would see ______, however, no, you can’t see anything so I will tell you about it.” I basically felt like I was in a hostage situation because the tour company wanted to make money when in all actuality this tour should have been canceled. The bus was crowded, we had to sit in the very back which was bumpy and cramped. The seats are extremely narrow. All in all a horrible 12 hour excursion for our last day in Reykjavik. We were very disappointed.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

We’re sorry to hear this day felt so disappointing. Icelandic weather can change very quickly, and forecasts are not always accurate down to the hour or exact location, so we make the go/no-go decision based on the best information available before departure and live road/weather updates during the day. When conditions worsen, guides and drivers adjust the route and stops to keep everyone safe. We appreciate your acknowledging Alain’s effort and knowledge. We’re also sorry the seating comfort and overall experience didn’t meet expectations.

Great experience

Really enjoyed the tour. Petra was a great guide and the sights were varied and beautiful. Good length of time at each stop. Long day but a good way to cover lots of ground without a car.

Land of fire and ice

Indumathi_S, Jan 2026
No words to describe the beauty of this land. Just Awestruck. Our tour guide Tom is entertaining, funny and kept us engaged with relevant information, great spirit. Overall well coordinated and a smooth trip

Amazing and beautiful. It’s a long day but so worth it, especially if you’re looking for something to do after the south coast tour.

Alexis_M, Jan 2026
The sites are very good. The guide is knowledgeable and prompt. We did a couple of quick extra stops which were very welcome. A very good experience overall.

Must Do!!

Ryan_M, Jan 2026
Our tour guide Alaias was very friendly and informative and didnt stop talking (in a good way) he also made a couple of extra stops along the way that wasn't in the itinerary. Even without the extra stops, the tour has been the best thing we have done in Iceland. If you're struggling what tours to do this one is a MUST DO, 10/10!

Most Beautiful Iceland Scenery!

nzicker, Jan 2026
Kalman was our tour guide - very informative, pleasant and funny. This tour was my favorite of all I took in Iceland simply due to the beautifully stunning scenery. I was truly in awe! It was well-paced, never felt rushed despite having many stops along the way. Be sure to either bring snacks or buy them at the first stop or two because there is no official lunch stop and this is a long tour.

A well paced tour packed with fantastic scenery and incredible places to explore.

Darren_S, Jan 2026
This is an excellent tour. The scenery is amazing and while there was quite a bit packed into the day, it never felt rushed. There were plenty of comfort stops and opportunities to buy food & snacks. The guide/driver (Helgi) was excellent and shared a wealth of local knowledge and Icelandic folklore. I highly recommend this tour.

Good but depends on the guide

Autumn_J, Jan 2026
This was a great tour to introduce you to the peninsula. There were lots of stops and a decent amount of time at each considering it was winter and we didn't have much daylight. The only thing I didn't like was the guide. He was informative but his commentary felt disorganized like he just spoke about whatever popped in his head. Some stops he didn't provide the significance at all. Still worth it, just be prepared to google some things if you get the same guide (Dooley).

Our guide and bus driver...

Arjit_B, Dec 2025
Our guide and bus driver were not coordinated and our guide was just there for the sake of it. The trip could have been better if we had a better guide. I actually prefer a partial refund for this trip.

Great tour!

Helina_F, Dec 2025
Learned a lot of culture and history of Iceland. We truly enjoyed every minute of it. We highly recommend

Beautiful and Informative Experience

Haja_J, Dec 2025
