Very friendly, very informative and gave us options. Always checked if we needed anything - toilets etc. Our driver was Helgi, very good. Gave us time limits at all stops and showed us where to go

The peninsula tour was beyond beautiful. Such a beautiful day and so many sites to see. We loved Dooley’s stories and laid back charm. The locals we interacted with created some of our best memories of Iceland. Don’t skip this part of Iceland !

Itinerary

Meet your driver at your hotel (additional cost) or from a central point in Reykjavik, then begin the 93-mile (150-km) trip to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, a tranquil retreat from the bustling city. The first stop of the day is the Berserkjahraun lava fields that were formed over 4,000 years ago.

Then drive to Kirkjufell, a mountain peak whose name means "Church Mountain," and looms behind the scenic waterfalls at the base.

As you drive, spot Snæfellsjökull dominating the horizon, and enjoy views of the ancient stratovolcano, which is capped with a glacier. Stop at the Londrangar viewpoint to admire the rock formations.

Continue to the small fishing village of Arnarstapi for a walk along the sea cliffs and learn about the history of the Vikings.

Stop at the black sand beach of Djupalónssandur, where the rock is worn smooth by countless waves, to learn about its rich history.

Finally, begin the return trip to Reykjavik, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your original departure point.

Beautiful landscape, mediocre experience.

Julie_B, Sep 2026
This area of Iceland is not to be missed. Beautiful landscapes! Unfortunately, my husband and I were not able to sit together on this 11 hour tour. Many people were already on the bus when our transfer arrived. Many folks were sitting in the window seats leaving only aisle seats open. I would have appreciated our guide helping folks that book together to sit together. Our guide was not Icelandic and she was as engaged but more like reading from a script. I would not recommend taking a tour on the full size bus that this tour used. The other tours we took were smaller groups on smaller busses and the difference in the overall experience was so much better and worth the extra cost.

Stunning Scenery!

Carol_P, Sep 2026
Andrea is an excellent guide! She had to deal with a very difficult passenger situation at the start of the trip. She handled it with calm and grace. The tour itself is chock full of must see sites. Its a long tour, but goes fast with frequent stops. I highly recommend.

A kind day, and worth it!

Dennis_S, Sep 2026
Great experience, a long day, expect some walking, Anna, our guide was most excellent, informative, and entertaining. Augustine, our driver was excellent as well.

A full day visiting amazing scenery

Adam_I, Sep 2026
Excellent, but long, tour of truly stunning scenery, culminating with a stop at Kirkjufell, probably the most photographed mountain in Iceland. We had an excellent guide, very knowledgeable about the geology, history and current political and social environment in Iceland. We were blessed the best possible weather - clear blue skies and pin-sharp visibilty The only negative, which is absolutely not the fault of the tour guide, was the rude, entitled and disrespectful of a few passengers who returned to the coach late at a couple of the stops, leading to a total delay of more than half a hour. This was inspite of clear and repeated requests from the guide not to be late back. Everyone on the bus was seething at the unnecessary delays.

Wonderful Tour

John_K, Sep 2026
It was a good tour, but it felt a bit rushed. The beachside trail and lunch time was 1 hour and 15 minutes, but I wish it had been 1 hour and 30 minutes. The guide was excellent, and the driver was very good as well.

Snæfellsnes

Eric_G, Sep 2026
Great way to see Snæfellsnes Peninsula! The tour is well structured to see all the highlights and spend the right amount of time at each.

Worthwhile trip

ADINA_M, Sep 2026
Awesome views! Excellent, fluent and knowledgeable guide! A region that is not to be missed if you want the full Iceland experience.

Nature at its best

Nathalie_b, Sep 2026
So much to see!!!! Lili the guide was full of amazing information about the country and places we were visiting!!! Natural beauty!!

No information

Debra_W, Aug 2026
Worse tour guide ever! He started day giving us his political opinion about everything! Even telling us what not to eat while visiting! Then he stopped saying anything at all. He told very little about the any of sights or history. Did not make the tour interesting or informative at all. After the last stop, he did not speak again until we got into Reykjavik! We were originally scheduled for 8am pick up, got changed on Sunday to 9am pickup. Picked up about 9:15. Then it was about :45 minutes more before we actually started the tour, due to sorting other travelers at a gas station. Beautiful day and tour should have been fabulous! Finally returned to drop off at 8:50pm. Bus driver did fine

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry the guide’s style and commentary did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that the revised pickup time was 09:00, with a pickup window of up to 30 minutes. Your collection at approximately 09:15 was therefore within the scheduled time. We have also noted your comments regarding the guide’s political commentary (Iceland EU referendum), the amount of information provided during the tour, and the long periods without commentary. These are points we take seriously and will address internally.

Was a great experience. Sigi Thor was a great guide, very patient and going the extra mile to make the tour great for all. Highly recommend!

Wonderful tour

John_H, Aug 2026
Although long, this is well worth the time for an overview of the sites here. Our guide, Andrea, was funny, human, and informative. The day got off to a rough start due to a delay caused by passenger confusion, but Andrea dealt with the situation & salvaged a great day.

Must See Iconic Attractions of Iceland

Jinping_Y, Aug 2026
With our pleasant peninsula trip, we enjoyed the breathtaking sceneries and iconic Icelandic attractions, among which we particularly admired the stunning national park and the majestic snow-capped glacier, the ancient lava fields and craters, the roaring waterfalls from the glaciers weaving through dormant volcanic mountains, the famous sculpture cave in the stone based on the legendary saga’s story, the rugged coastal cliffs perched with squawking and wailing seabirds, and waves battered round shaped pebbles on black sand beach. Petra, our driver and tour guide, made the long journey fascinating by telling many interesting sagas folktales of the attractions and sharing some news and facts about the scenery. She’s warm, caring, responsible, and lovely.

Long trip with many stops...

Gary_B, Aug 2026
Long trip with many stops but definitely worthwhile especially with a very pleasant guide and a highly competent driver. Visiting a variety of site was instructive and offered a broad view of Iceland's environment.

Nice Tour with a local Icelander, but wrong pick up stop

Phyllis_M, Aug 2026
Nice to have had a local Icelandic person leading the tour with real stories of growing up in Iceland. However Mixup on the pick up at Bus Stop #12. I was there early, but accused by Viator of not being at BSI Terminal. This was your mistake. My pickup was Bus Stop 12, as on my ticket and confirmation., NOT BSI Terminal. Otherwise, I would have given 5-stars.

Nice landscape, tour stops ill-timed

Ruben_S, Aug 2026
The tour itself lasts longer than 11 hours. The landscape is amazing, but most will be on the right-hand side, so choose the right side of the bus if you have the chance. The stops are a bit underwhelming, and the timings seemed off.

Response from Host, Aug 2026

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the landscapes of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. This is a long full-day excursion covering a large area, with significant driving between the different sights. The time at each stop is planned so that guests can visit all of the advertised locations within the day, although we understand that some travelers may prefer a slower pace or longer stays at particular places. Regarding seating, the scenery changes throughout the route, and there are views from both sides of the vehicle, so we would not necessarily say that one side is consistently better than the other. We appreciate your comments about the timing of the stops.

Too much driving and fast stops.

Melba_M, Aug 2026
It’s a lot of stop, jump out, take pic, get back on bus. Also, it was a great deal of drive time from to, and around Reykjavik.

Response from Host, Aug 2026

Thank you for your feedback. The Snæfellsnes Peninsula covers a large area, so this full-day tour naturally involves a significant amount of driving between the different sights. The itinerary also includes several stops, with the time at each location planned to allow guests to see the main highlights while completing the full route. We understand that the pace may feel too fast for guests who prefer longer, more relaxed visits at each location.

A great tour with a great guide

Ludovick_P, Aug 2026
Our guide, Gummi, was awesome. He provided us with useful info, described the history of Iceland briefly and clearly. He also gave us a musical tour, with fascinating information about key Icelandic musicians e.g. Bjork, and played their music for us, explaining the music development over different eras too. A great tour with a great guide!

so good a local went and enjoyed

An absolutely fantastic...

Aneta, Aug 2026
An absolutely fantastic day exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The scenery was breathtaking — dramatic coastlines, black-sand beaches, lava fields, mountains and some of the most incredible landscapes I’ve seen in Iceland. Every stop had something different to offer, and there were plenty of opportunities to take photos and simply enjoy the views. It’s a long day, but the journey never felt boring because there was always something beautiful to see along the way. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and made the trip even more enjoyable with interesting stories and information about the places we visited. Kirkjufell was definitely one of the highlights, but the whole peninsula was impressive. It felt like seeing a little bit of everything Iceland has to offer in one day. A very well-organised tour and a wonderful way to experience Snaefellsnes without having to worry about driving. I’d definitely recommend it.

Stunning and informative

Debby_C, Aug 2026
This full day tour took us to so many diverse sites. The driver and guide were both excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Great choice to see the coast and beautiful mountains.

Cynthia_D, Aug 2026
It was a great day albeit long. Bring your snacks, food, and water as you may only get the opportunity to buy food at a gas station mini-mart.

Great Experience!

Ginger_B, Aug 2026
Fantastic Sites! +++++ ! Guide provided detailed information, including music and folktales. A place to pick up food was available on the way there and back. Length of tour was not a factor, considering everything we got to see and do. So glad we did this one!

It’s a long day trip but worth every minute. Each stop is breathtaking and the tour guide offers insights into natural and political history.

Seeing nature

It’s a long tour but so interesting Our guide was so knowledgeable. He is a geologist by profession. Lovely person who made the whole tour wonderful

Axel was an amazing guide who told us a lot about the peninsula and also Iceland as a whole. The tour captures a bit of everything from Iceland and gives you great idea about the country.

Excellent tour despite the weather and Ragnar was a great and highly informative guide. Really enjoyed it.

Memory of a lifetime

Pallab_M, Aug 2026
The tour is phenomenal. Our guide Darren did a great job explaining the details. But what stands out is his willingness to go beyond the responsibilities of a tour guide and try to help everyone to make their journeys memorable. A big thank you to Darren ! The tour itself covers many places and on a good weather day, the view of the peninsula is stunning. The sea coast, the untamed volcanic rocks, nesting ground of the seagulls, coupled with the story of the trolls and elves is just amazing. The tour is rightly paced and provides enough opportunity to you to enjoy, if you keep with the schedule. I would recommend to everyone.

Excellent

Ciana_A, Jul 2026
This was an excellent trip. It is a lot more driving compared to the golden circle and south coast tours but worth it. Maybe didn’t need to stop at the one church but it was fine. There are not many bathrooms along this route or places to buy food so bring a lunch. They did stop at a gas station before and tell people this though so that was great. Anna was an amazing guide, so friendly and full of information. It was also nice to see Darren, a guide from another tour there as well. The beaches are stunning, less busy compared to other sites, and the last waterfall is gorgeous

Our tour guide was Kuba. He was extremely funny, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I accidentally left my sunglasses at once of the stops, and he went out of his way to contact the location and assist me in getting them back. We had a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland. Thank you both Kuba and Bus Travel Iceland for a wonderful and memorable experience.
