Climb into your drysuit at the rafting base in Hafgrímsstaðir. Then, travel onward by bus to the banks of the choppy but gentle West Glacial River. With your paddle in hand, hop aboard your raft and follow the current downstream. Navigate the course with your guide and enjoy breathtaking views over the rolling riverbanks. Finish your adventure with a cliff jump and a swim in the glacial waters.

Start to finish this experience was amazing. Our driver was so much fun telling is about the different farms along the way. We got to base and meet our rafting crew and they went over everything. Made our way to the river and had the best time. We got to swim, have hot chocolate right out of a hot spring and cliff jump at the end. I would recommend this crew and hope to run into them again on another adventure.

We had lucky and we got a personal rafting. The staff was extremely welcoming, great people with good vibes. The place is with fun vibe. The guide was very professional, the equipment was very good, we didn't get any vet at all! Specially thanks to Saurove the guide, Gustav behind the wheel and Lars on the kayak. All of them are very professional and wanted to make our experience unique and the best one ever. We definitely will recommend the VIKING RAFTING to everyone we know who goes to Iceland!

This was the highlight of our trip! Seriously, we saw and did a lot of cool things in Iceland but this was by far the most fun and coolest. Everything was so well organized and executed, from the dry suit explanation, to the safety briefing, to the rafting experience itself. We even got to jump into the river at the end. Adam was our guide, and was patient, knowledgeable and funny (we didn’t have the strongest rowers in our boat 😂). I would recommend this trip to anyone with a sense of adventure. The meal at the end was amazing too- wish we had ordered one for each of us. Overall FIVE enthusiastic stars!!

This tour was a highlight of our trip to Iceland. The team are great and make the experience really fun. Thank you to Amy and Sarah our guides for such a lovely day and incredible experience. Thanks to Pablo for such amazing photos. The meeting point is a nice relaxing place to spend some time and grab lunch or a drink. It was a nice touch to stop and make hot chocolate using a natural hot spring.

We had the best time rafting with our family and friends. Amy went above and beyond to accommodate all of our needs. She was friendly, knowledgeable, conversational and helpful. Lucas our rafting guide was exceptional and we all had tremendous fun with Lucas steering the way down the river. Jumping off the cliff and swimming in the river was a blast. We concluded our rafting adventure with a delicious meal prepared by the chef. Overall we highly recommend this incredible rafting adventure. It’s was outstanding for everyone in our group ages 6-50

Very well organised family rafting, with safety first, which was also great fun for our teenagers (17 and 15): they could sit at the front top of the boat in rapids, we could swim along the boat at a safe place and jump down a cliff (5m). Half way we drank hot chocolat with water from a hot spring.
Very decent gear, top-guides (Maude and Pablo), very safe bus-driver (Gabriel) and a lovely lunch at the end (lamb from the BBQ, rice, baked potatoes and a salad😋) for 3500 Kr each.

This was a fantastic addition to the family Iceland trip. I can not say enough about the Viking Rafting experience, lodge, equipment, team, and value.
The directions getting to location were spot on and not too far off the ring road (Highway 1). We were greeted upon arrival and they have a fun clubhouse to hang out, eat snacks and drinks that we brought and played darts and games available while we waited.
The rafting guides gave a great presentation on what to expect for our 10 and 13 year olds who were first time on the river.
The equipment was up to date and all safety for our family was above par. The team was all personable from the gear supplier, driver, safety talk and guide. They took time with us and the river was so perfect and as described for Grade/Class 2 rapids. Love the hot chocolate stop and cliff jump as well.
Class act and the whole crew (from all over the world) seemed to be happy to be there and served us so well. Thanks so much!!!

Incredibly fun. Our guide Roshan, was amazing. This guy is off the charts fun, knowledgeable and skilled. So glad we did this family trip. Meal afterwards at base camp was fantastic as well.

Wow!! What a great experience. The staff was absolutely amazing, from greeting us, running through the safety and procedures, getting us suited up for the trip, and providing education about the area as we went through the river. The facility is homey and well-kept- my husband and I loved the pups running around! The river is truly family-friendly, with spontaneous moments of thrill. Time well managed. If you are considering doing this experience highly recommend it - they provide you with the safety equipment and dry suit to enter the river you have to bundle up to what you think will keep you warm in the river.

Scotty made the experience great. Our eldest daughter could jump in the ice cold water which she loved. Our youngest dared to sit up front after Scotty gave him some comfort. He loved it !! Thank you Scotty for this great experience

We had a great time. Both Scotty and Tarzan were terrific guides. So glad we also did the dinner too. Grilled Icelandic Lamb was tasty after the work out from paddling through rapids.

This was the first time I'd ever done white water rafting and I loved it. It was the perfect grade for my 7 year old who had a fantastic time. The team who took us out three boats of people were fantastic and made it fun for all of us, whether that was swimming down the river or cliff jumping optional!!!!, through to the good natured ribbing of people on the boats. I'd highly recommend it

This was an excellent trip for our kids 10 and 12 who are novices at whitewater. The guides did a great job explaining safety rules, the equipment and how a boat works together to go through rapids. We had a great time drinking hot chocolate made from fresh volcanic spring water and jumping off of a cliff into ice cold glacier water thanks to the dry suits. My kids loved the day and were doing things I never expected like jumping off a cliff! Thanks Phil and the rest of the team for making our day safe and fun!!!
