Absolutely amazing experience! Our guide was so friendly and really wanted to make sure we all had the experience we wanted! The tour itself was fantastic, an absolute must if you're travelling to Akureyri, an easy and hassle-free way to travel out of the city and see some of the unbelievable surrounding landscapes of the countryside!

I skipped the bath hour to go to a small cave and I regretted big time because the the baths were amazing.
The bus driver is the same person that is the “tour guide” for this tour. The tour is advertised on Viator as 8 hours but the driver said it never goes over 6. Each stop was rushed. We weren’t advised where we were going or what the stop was just told when to be back on the bus. The only stop the “tour guide” participated in us in was the lava stop. And the couple of people that chose to go in the Myvatn natural baths were not able to see the caves as that is what the rest of the bus did when they did the baths. The tour description said nothing about that. The bus driver / tour guide didn’t provide much information about what we were seeing except when specifically asked a question. And before the tour the man at the booth foe this company got in a name calling argument with the vendor next to him. Not professional and not a good way to start the tour. This company needs to make a number of improvements.
The tour is a good one for those arriving at the port of Akureyri . The pickup was seamless. Our visit to Lake Myvatn , where there are midges, gave us an opportunity to see the Earth Lagoon and a lunch break at the cafeteria there. We had the very delicious smoked trout on lava bread. The lava fields (sulfur) were amazing as was the landscape of the Dark Forest. It was also interesting to see the rift that divides Eurasia and North America. Our guide and driver were very good.
We had a great time. Our tour guide, Graham was very informative. Unfortunately, the bus he was driving only had one temperature, Hot, so it was a little uncomfortable on the bus. I would highly recommend this tour.
Great tour of multiple sites in the area. Lots of variety—lava fields, steam vents, lake views, and amazing Godafoss. Quite a lot of walking but guide allows plenty of time. Good commentary along the way. Terrific scenery on our lucky sunny day!
What an absolute fantastic tour in a comfortable van. Bigi was great at telling us relevant facts, interesting stories and yet not feeling like he had to entertain us every minute of the drive. We had adequate time at each site to wander if we wished or to hang out at an overlook or gift shop. We stopped at a market so we could buy snacks and sandwiches without fighting the crowds at the main tourist sites. We even got to see how the locals bake their bread with heat from the thermal features. We had extra time at the end for a drive through old town, past the botanical gardens and other sites. All of this was while making sure to return the group to our cruise ship at the right time. We highly recommend this tour.
I highly recommend this tour. Weather prevented us from having more than a single day in Akureyri, and this day-tour enabled us to see most everything we wanted in a day that was full but not rushed. Our guide, Aaron, was wonderful and provided a depth of information on Iceland's nature, history, and contemporary politics. In addition to seeing all of the sights, with excellent descriptions, we also received an education on Icelandic culture, and especially on how it is expressed in the north. The guide was flexible to our needs, and we had adequate time to explore on our own at most of the sites we visited. We could not have asked for more from this trip, we loved each location, but really it was the guide, with his detailed descriptions and discussion of northern Iceland, who made it so wonderful and special. This is an exceptional tour, whether you have only a single day in Akureyri or if you want an overview of the places in the region for further exploration. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. It was a great way to end our trip to Iceland.
Great trip. Well worth it! Driver/guide Graham, friendly and knowledgable. Stand out for us were the mud pools at Hverir. Fab day!
This experience was jam packed with amazing sights and endless wonders of the world to see.. Our driver/tour guide (Ziggy) went above and beyond.. He was very knowledgable, kind and made everybody feel very comfortable, relaxed and made sure we were all happy.. The best tour I have been on in all my 50 years travelling!.. Thank you so much to Ziggy for making the experience so unique and special xx
Our tour guide really looked after us all and kept us safe! The most amazing Icelandic scenery to experience which we would never have reached without the expert driving skills of our tour guide in very snowy and windy weather. He made us feel very safe and very much looked after during our tour!
I would make sure to wear walking shoes or walking boots with a good grip and to make sure to wear warm clothes if needed with the changing Icelandic weather.
Such a memorable day, our tour guide, Ammar, was very knowledgable and friendly....would highly recommend
Such a magical & surreal experience. Every stop on this trip is a wow moment. Must do if in the area
Tour guide Armand was very knowledgeable, we stopped at lots of spots to take some great photos and Armand knew the area very well as he had grown up there and was full of knowledge.
Busy day experienced guide with excellent knowledge of all sites visited given plenty of time at them
Our guide was really knowledgeable on all aspects of Iceland and its culture and I personally learned so much about the Island.
Unable to do thermal bathing due to closure of the facility but this allowed more time on the other attractions.
This tour takes you to interesting geological sites with a tour guide that is a full of knowledge. If you’re a Game of Thrones fan you will see some familiar spots. Gorgeous landscapes and scenery!

A Wonderful day, lots of driving but saw so many interesting sites and learnt a lot about Northern Iceland and its geo thermal environment
Great day seeing the Godafoss Waterfall and volcanic countryside.
Our guide did a great job with arranging our itinerary to avoid the
large cruise ship crowds. He was also good to handle adjustments
so that all participants were able to do what they wanted to see and do.
The tour was good and the operator was able to alter the tour somewhat to match the wishes of the group. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny.
Excellent small bus tour of northeastern Iceland! Jonas, our driver and tour guide, was knowledgeable and friendly. He kept our group on schedule and shared his extensive knowledge of life in Iceland. A+!
Great trip absolutely loved it from start to finish , our driver on the trip was great too very experienced driving in the snow and getting us to our destinations
First of all Norbert was a great guide, provided us with microspikes so we could walk on icy patches and in general was very knowledgeable and funny. The trip was totally worth it as we visited amazing locations in complete safety.
We had such a great time on this tour. Daniel was such a fabulous guide and taught us so much about life in Iceland! A very nice man who was so entertaining and informative. I cannot recommend this enough and it made our holiday. Thank you Daniel for the best day
Seeing all the sights even at minus13 degC. Lots of stories from Norbert. Good trip and I’d recommend to everyone.

Thank you for sharing and great to hear that you enjoyed.
Visiting the Lake Myvatn and Godafoss waterfall…It was excellent!!! Our guide Norbert was incredible!!!
We have been to southern Iceland. This was our first time in the nortn. The one big positive is the majesty of the Icelandic landscape. In my opinion, Imagine Iceland is not a very serious company.
It was a great trip to the beautiful area of Lake Myvatn! We could see fantastic Dimmuborgir lava formations, mesmerising Godafoss waterfall, and interesting hot mudpools area. The guide was very nice and talked a lot about the places we visited. My only regret is that we had only 30 minutes in Dimmuborgir as the place definitely deserves a longer visit, being one of the most iconic places in Iceland.
The waterfall and lake area are beautiful! We went to a geothermal area where there were boiling cauldrons which I could have skipped. By stopping there you had to choose between eating lunch or going to the Nature baths. We were hungry so chose to have lunch. I really wish we would have had time to do both. We took this tour as a shore excursion on a cruise. Despite asking on multiple occasions if we would be back in time, we barely made the boat. Also, our guide was aware of our timing and drove past our ship to drop the other ship’s passengers off first. Their ship left an hour later than ours. We thought this was extremely rude given the tour was late returning and he knew our situation. For that reason, I probably would not recommend taking this tour if on a cruise ship.

Thank you for taking the time to write this feedback. I am sorry that you barely made it back to the boat, we have never missed to bring our passengers back and that is our main priority throughout the tour. Of course our guide should have dropped you off first as your boat was leaving earlier. Could you email us the date, time and the guides name so that we can give him a constructive feedback so this does not happen again, our email is info@imagineicelandtravel.com!
Our trip was made special because of our guide, Armann - he brought each of our stops to life with facts, insights and Viking folklore!
