Absolutely amazing experience! Our guide was so friendly and really wanted to make sure we all had the experience we wanted! The tour itself was fantastic, an absolute must if you're travelling to Akureyri, an easy and hassle-free way to travel out of the city and see some of the unbelievable surrounding landscapes of the countryside!

This experience was jam packed with amazing sights and endless wonders of the world to see.. Our driver/tour guide (Ziggy) went above and beyond.. He was very knowledgable, kind and made everybody feel very comfortable, relaxed and made sure we were all happy.. The best tour I have been on in all my 50 years travelling!.. Thank you so much to Ziggy for making the experience so unique and special xx

Guided tour of lake Mývatn and Goðafoss Waterfall

Our tour guide really looked after us all and kept us safe! The most amazing Icelandic scenery to experience which we would never have reached without the expert driving skills of our tour guide in very snowy and windy weather. He made us feel very safe and very much looked after during our tour! I would make sure to wear walking shoes or walking boots with a good grip and to make sure to wear warm clothes if needed with the changing Icelandic weather.

Such a magical & surreal experience. Every stop on this trip is a wow moment. Must do if in the area

Great Tour lots of stops at breathtaking sights

Jade_P, Feb 2026
Tour guide Armand was very knowledgeable, we stopped at lots of spots to take some great photos and Armand knew the area very well as he had grown up there and was full of knowledge.

Busy day experienced guide with excellent knowledge of all sites visited given plenty of time at them

Amazing trip

Karen_C, Feb 2026
Our guide was really knowledgeable on all aspects of Iceland and its culture and I personally learned so much about the Island. Unable to do thermal bathing due to closure of the facility but this allowed more time on the other attractions.

A must do in the north of Iceland!

ksilberman, Jan 2026
This tour takes you to interesting geological sites with a tour guide that is a full of knowledge. If you’re a Game of Thrones fan you will see some familiar spots. Gorgeous landscapes and scenery!

A Wonderful day, lots of driving but saw so many interesting sites and learnt a lot about Northern Iceland and its geo thermal environment

Amazing waterfall and countryside

Becki_E, Sep 2025
Great day seeing the Godafoss Waterfall and volcanic countryside. Our guide did a great job with arranging our itinerary to avoid the large cruise ship crowds. He was also good to handle adjustments so that all participants were able to do what they wanted to see and do.

Lots of special sights to see on this one

Charles_C, Aug 2025
The tour was good and the operator was able to alter the tour somewhat to match the wishes of the group. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny.

Great small bus shore excursion!

Martha_M, May 2025
Excellent small bus tour of northeastern Iceland! Jonas, our driver and tour guide, was knowledgeable and friendly. He kept our group on schedule and shared his extensive knowledge of life in Iceland. A+!

Great trip. Amazing locations.

Roberto_G, Jan 2025
First of all Norbert was a great guide, provided us with microspikes so we could walk on icy patches and in general was very knowledgeable and funny. The trip was totally worth it as we visited amazing locations in complete safety.

Fabulous trip with the best guide

Lake Myvatn in wintertime

Seeing all the sights even at minus13 degC. Lots of stories from Norbert. Good trip and I’d recommend to everyone.

Visiting the Lake Myvatn and Godafoss waterfall…It was excellent!!! Our guide Norbert was incredible!!!

Wonderful Iceland

Mary_S, Sep 2023
We have been to southern Iceland. This was our first time in the nortn. The one big positive is the majesty of the Icelandic landscape. In my opinion, Imagine Iceland is not a very serious company.

Great trip to the beautiful Lake Myvatn

Katarzyna_G, Aug 2023
It was a great trip to the beautiful area of Lake Myvatn! We could see fantastic Dimmuborgir lava formations, mesmerising Godafoss waterfall, and interesting hot mudpools area. The guide was very nice and talked a lot about the places we visited. My only regret is that we had only 30 minutes in Dimmuborgir as the place definitely deserves a longer visit, being one of the most iconic places in Iceland.

Beautiful but beware

Susan_H, Jul 2023
The waterfall and lake area are beautiful! We went to a geothermal area where there were boiling cauldrons which I could have skipped. By stopping there you had to choose between eating lunch or going to the Nature baths. We were hungry so chose to have lunch. I really wish we would have had time to do both. We took this tour as a shore excursion on a cruise. Despite asking on multiple occasions if we would be back in time, we barely made the boat. Also, our guide was aware of our timing and drove past our ship to drop the other ship’s passengers off first. Their ship left an hour later than ours. We thought this was extremely rude given the tour was late returning and he knew our situation. For that reason, I probably would not recommend taking this tour if on a cruise ship.

Response from Host, Aug 2023

Thank you for taking the time to write this feedback. I am sorry that you barely made it back to the boat, we have never missed to bring our passengers back and that is our main priority throughout the tour. Of course our guide should have dropped you off first as your boat was leaving earlier. Could you email us the date, time and the guides name so that we can give him a constructive feedback so this does not happen again, our email is info@imagineicelandtravel.com!

Great Day in the North

connie_n, May 2023
Our trip was made special because of our guide, Armann - he brought each of our stops to life with facts, insights and Viking folklore!

One of the best tours ever

Sanna_B, Apr 2023
Our guide Daniel was super nice, witty, informative and he knew all the right spots and stories to fully admire and enjoy the awsome landscape from Akureyri to the Myvatn region and back. Incl. trolls, Game of Thrones, the breathtaking experience of a bath in the Myvatn Lagoon, and so much more! Great fun, thanks loads!

Best Tour (Guide) Ever

Robert_Q, Jul 2022
Our guide, Armann, would make any tour an adventure. His commitment to giving each guest an experience to remember was remarkable. This tour was my primary reason for coming to Iceland. Thanks to Armann it was far better than I had imagined.

Fun and informative excursion

keenan_c, Sep 2021
We (as a group of three) had enough time to travel to all destinations with an adequate amount of time spent at each location, no one was rushed in any way, and we could experience the natural beauty present. The tour guide was very informative about many aspects not only about each stop, but Iceland in general- whether it came to geology or folklore, he always had something interesting or witty to say. My favourite part had to be the mud pots- it looked (and smelled) like you had just stepped on an alien planet, with the blistered landscape inset with roaring steam columns and bubbling acid pools.

The top attractions near Akureyri with local guide

Kevin_P, Jun 2021
Iceland is getting crowded with tourists, mostly Americans, and I am glad I happened upon this tour. Our guide was a local, which isn't always the case since many larger companies are importing guides from places like Spain. I liked this because she grew up on a local farm and had many interesting things to say along the way about growing up in Iceland and how things have changed in recent decades. We toured most of the Diamond Circle, we had plenty of time on our stops and flexibility. We had 5 people, three groups (I was traveling alone), so it was a perfect size of group. The van was very comfortable, a high ceiling Ford with plenty of seating. It was a full day, with two waterfall, a hot spring stop which is much better IMHO than the Blue Lagoon, along with lava fields, a wonderful bargain soup lunch along the way (the best deal I have had in Iceland and I've been here almost 3 weeks). The north is a wonderful place to visit and I wish I had made more time to explore but if you want to see a lot in a short time but not feel like you are being rushed from place to place, I recommend this tour.

Wonderful day!

Martha_k, Aug 2019
This day with Imagine Iceland Travel was terrific! Mira was our guide and SO helpful and informative. This small group trip to the baths and the waterfall was a splendid day in Iceland! Highly recommend.
