Absolutely amazing time with the huskies and their owners! So lovely, so informative and the dogs were just gorgeous and such a pleasure to hike with. From the welcome to the hiking gear and pats at the whole experience was exceptional. Recommend as a must do experience. This is such a down to earth experience where you get to really enjoy the dogs and learn all about them with this friendly and passionate owners.

The tour was amazing! Dogs are very friendly, energetic and lovable and they are members of the family. Interacting with 29 dogs was a truly inspiring experience. One of the best tours we ever did!

We only accept a dozen at a time, because we want to have guests, not customers.
We want to be able to chat with our guests and enjoy the time, with dogs and people alike.
Run do not walk to book this tour. It was incredible and super fun. Who doesn’t love being greeted by 20 huskies? Gunni and Maura are the Owners. They choose which dogs will go on the hike via lottery so that each dog gets to participate equally. Each person doing the hike gets a harness around their waist with a bungee leach attached to a husky’s harness. This was a great way for the Husky to walk me, I mean me to walk the husky. Due to the harness, you are hands free with no need to hold a leash. We hiked as a pack with the Owner Gunni and a second dog handler. If your husky is too animated for you, they will choose a calmer dog for you to walk. All of the dogs are super friendly. The hike is easy with no major hills. We get a couple water breaks for the dogs and for us. Gunni shares a lot about each dog on the walk. If you’ve never walked a dog before, this is a great first experience.
After the hike you will be shown around their home and get to see dog show ribbons and sledding trophies. You’ll get a great history about the dogs and responsible breeding practices.
I highly recommend this tour. You will be pick up at the cruise port or in town. Just look for the person walking a husky.
I just wish the experience was longer. I could have stayed there all day.

This is a very accurate description of what a Hiking visit to us is like. We put the most effort into ensuring that our guests feel safe and enjoy the hike, so we always choose a dog and a trail/pace that suits each individual/group.

It is possible to enjoy / and live, life in so many different ways. Combining hobby and work into a lifestyle is one of my biggest lottery wins.
The dogs and humans alike are part of a giant family unit and that is noticeable every step of the way through the tour. This was a truly great experience with friendly hospitality and gorgeous dogs. The scenery during the hike was great and the dogs were friendly.

Truly one of the best experiences we have had. The dogs were so happy and they are so well loved by everyone involved.
Taking the dogs on a hike was just a perfect way to get to see them first hand in their element . Afterwards, they can’t wait to shower you with licks and get belly rubs. You quickly notice that everyone leaving is so happy.

One of the main reasons we are doing this is to show people how much fun life can be with these huskies. And I often say to my guests "if you are happy, I am happy".
This experience is exactly as it states. You will meet a local family and their 30 husky dogs, walk them on a beautiful hike, learn about their breed and lineage, and see the family working dog home in action.

Great fun ride with nice horses in beautiful countryside. Our leaders were good riders and friendly hosts. Helmets were provided and required. One caution: do not overestimate your experience when choosing your horse.

Our family—ages 40 to 80–had a wonderful experience. Not only was the hike enjoyable, but we also learned about sledding and how Gunnar and Maria care for 30 dogs! Beautiful scenery and ample time to hang out with the dogs. Highly recommend!

We can choose different hiking trails in our environment and try to find one that suits each group. Glad to hear that you liked it.
This was a really fun, laid back and cool experience. TBH my expectations were not high, and mainly booked because my daughter loves huskies. But Maria and Gunni and their huge family of beautiful huskies made this a very unique experience. We learned so much about the area, racing and raising huskies. They opened their home and were some of the most welcoming people we met on the entire trip. I feel like we could be friends for life! (Also, funny moment: huskies are extremely vocal. There was quite a racket when we pulled up. One of them even sounds like he’s mooing, lol!) We truly loved this experience and would recommend to anyone!

Don’t skip this trip! We saw many beautiful places in Iceland, but this tour was our favorite. The owners are so kind and welcoming. It’s like going over to your friend’s house to take a walk. The dogs are so well cared for and friendly. The scenery on our hike was incredible. They cater the walk to your ability. A truly unforgettable experience for any dog lover!

We did this on our cruise stop. Gunni picked us up at port - with a friendly husky riding along- and it’s only 10 min or so away. Maria was wonderful too - loved seeing their home and hearing about their life with the pack. Then onto the fun of petting the pack - probably over 20 dogs! Then to hiking. The dogs were super friendly and awesome. We loved it! If you like dogs this is for you. Nice change from the usual tours. Don’t hesitate. Good value, unique and adorable…

Definitely lots more fun than I anticipated. Gunni meets you at your designated spot with a Huskie-so he’s easy to spot. Very responsive to questions emailed to him. The dogs are delightfully exuberant and friendly. Walking the dogs was definitely fun and a bit of a workout as, of course, they love to pull! Leashes are hands free which is great. Interesting to see them making yarn then clothing out of the dogs’ fur.

I try to adjust my hikes to every group, but these are sled dogs so they are strong pullers and can really give you a work out.

This is a must do while in Iceland. The dogs were absolutely cute and friendly. We felt welcomed at all times and well taken care of. The hike with the husky was in beautiful country and we had many opportunities to interact with all the dogs. The dogs were well behaved and happy to go for a hike. Each dog has a name and the owner’s show that they really care for them. We have great pictures and memories of this that we will treasure for years.

This was a FANTASTIC experience! The dogs are super friendly and quite frankly hilarious. It’s fun hanging out with them before the hike. And the hike is excellent exercise. It’s not a long hike, ours was maybe 2 miles or just under. But you have to use your quads, glutes and abs to keep the dogs from racing off. You will definitely feel like you did something at the gym, but it’s FUN. We had our 11 year-old with us. Kids of his size (~ 75 lbs) won’t be able to handle a husky on their own, but they can help one of the guides, or the guide can help them. The dog definitely love to play with kids, though— more than the adults! In any event, we STRONGLY recommend this, would give it more than 5 stars if we could!

The dogs are mentally doing some work out and the younger one can be a handful, but we try to pair up fitting dog/people combo and even the younger (kids) can help out.

We had so much fun meeting this giant family of huskies! We took them for a walk to burn off some of their energy and then spent some time looking at the enclosure and housing for 21 adult dogs. The hosts were funny and kind people who were lovely to meet. Every dog was well behaved and extremely obedient. Even if you haven't had a ton of experience with dogs, I think you could have a great time with this adventure.

goHusky trekking is located on the northern outskirts of Akureyri and spending time with them was a real treat. I had a car do drive but they offer pickup too. What a great operation Gunnar and Marìa have with this business.
The huskies gave me a very boisterous welcome upon arrival. Apparently they launch into this singing, as they are pleased to see visitors.
Simple commands and they quieten down very quickly. The owners start training their huskies with obedience commands from the get go, showing dedication and patience, more evident throughout my visit.
All the huskies were introduced to me. Who were excited, not sure if it was just seeing me or they knew it meant a walk when visitors arrived, it was their way of saying ‘pick me, pick me’ mentality! by the huskies!
Marìa gave me a background talk on ‘why and how’ this business was started Then we got ready for the husky hike. The huskey’s age/ temperament matched to me. Which was great.
We went on a local trail and it was great having one on one time with the husky and Marìa. To questions about the husky way of life.
We were fortunate with the weather, late in the afternoon made it a delightful experience.
Upon return I was introduced to the husky’s environment, which included the house as the husky’s are members of the family.
I got to see the newest members of the family, the puppies. They were adorable.
