We had an unusual sunny day but windy. The tour hit all the hot spots around the Golden Circle. The waterfall was worth every cent, although you do have 114 steps to get there. Going down was easy but pace yourself going up if you are elderly.

This tour was fantastic! Our guide was so knowledgable and kept it fun for us. It was her birthday, and she even brought cake to share with us! She was so informative, so personable, and the tour was absolutely fantastic. Highlight of our time in Iceland!

Locations wonderful, transport shocking

Ruth_L, Aug 2026
To start with the locations are amazing. The turf house village is interesting (the little shop sells some truly handmade gifts - the first / best we’d seen in a week in Iceland). The waterfall is stunning and the lagoon was much needed and relaxing. However, the transport was shockingly awful. The coach should not have been on the road. The outside was rusting and had obviously had a lot of damage. There was no suspension at the back of the coach, so we literally felt every bump in the road (and there was a lot of driving!). The microphone only worked some of the time, so half of the coach couldn’t hear the commentary as the poor girl had to shout from the front. It was a warm day and there was no AirCon. We might have been able to cope with that, but for the first half of the journey the heating was on full (+1 hour of driving) - those with window seats were nearly passing out as that was where the heating was. Driver eventually worked out how to switch it off, but it really did ruin what should have been a wonderful day. The poor guide tried her best under the circumstances, and huge respect to her for working so hard. Maybe we were just very unlucky, but from our experience I wouldn’t recommend.

Response from Host, Aug 2026

Hi Thank you for your review. We want to excuse the vehicle we were forced to use for the tour, we had a vehicle failure the night before and as it was the one of the largest tour departure in Iceland (the solar eclipse was day after). We basically had the option of using this absolute last resort vehicle or cancelling the tour. And we did not want to cancel the tour. And yes, you were a bit unlucky because normally we run the tours in much better vehicles. We want to reach out privately and offer you a partial refund for putting you on the Last Resort Sauna Bus. And let you know that we will never use it again. Best regards Baldvin

This excursion is worth doing! The waterfall breathtaking! Enough time to enjoy the beauty. The forest lagoon so relaxing! Enough time to really relax. Possibly too relaxed if there is such a thing!😊 Our guide Miguel was the best. He shared info about Iceland that was so informative and had a pleasant voice.

You should do this!

ReginaJ_B, Aug 2026
This was a wonderful tour. Booked on line..easy and helpful!..had to adjust and found that simple. Ava, was one of the best guides I have ever had around the world! Clear, interesting and always ready to answer questions.

Golden Circke trip

Lois_H, Jul 2026
Val was an amazing guide. We had the best weather. Considering it was an 11 hr tour, it did not feel so long as we had so many breaks. Of course the stop at the blue lagoon at the end was totally perfect. About the Only Improvement I would make is to add alcoholic drinks and robes to the “adventure”. The stop to see horses was not on the program and was perfect.

Great day out

Anthony_B, Jul 2026
This was a great small tour with a wonderful guide. Half the price of the same tour on the ship and with a guarantee to get you back to the ship on time. Also no big groups!

Limited English proficiency

Candy_B, Jul 2026
Our tour guide, although pleasant, had a limited English proficiency. It was difficult to understand what she was saying.

Perfect Blend of History, Scenic Beauty and Relaxing Fun

Donna_S, Jul 2026
This tour is the perfect blend of history, natural beauty and relaxing fun. Seeing the rock house museum provided the most informative look at the past that we’ve seen in Iceland and the views were breathtaking. The natural beauty of the Waterfall of the Gods was unmatched. The Forest Lagoon was one of the funnest experiences of our trip. If you’re modest, bring your own larger towel and search for the more private shower stalls. You can book the disabled changing/shower room ahead of time also. The shower room attendants are very militant and insist that you disrobe, drop your towel, etc. The check in and check out was relatively simple for such a large group. We definitely could have spent more time here. The driver dropped some guests at the city center for shopping at the tour’s end. Michel was a kind, informed and fun guide. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

Great Day!

This was by far the highlight of our vacation. Our tour guide Hilmar from Saga Travels was amazing. Make sure to bring cash to tip. We didn’t have any and he had no socials to give him any money. This trip had beautiful sights and wonderful waterfalls. The forest lagoon was probably our favorite lagoon for relaxation. The frozen drink were amazing. Beside Hilmar giving us all of the knowledge he also gave the best recommendations. 10/10 Experience. Also on our way out we even seen a whale!

One of the best tours we took in Iceland

Andy_P, Jun 2026
Godafoss Waterfall was spectacular with a variety of views. The Turf house was interesting to see how some families had to live years ago. Not sure if it was due to the time of year, however there were gnats flying around us outside. The Forest Lagoon hot springs was really a treat and a great way to end the tour. We enjoyed over 2 hours at the site which also included a sauna and a cold plunge spa pool. The guide was excellent, the mini bus was fairly new and comfortable, and pickup at the port was seamless.

Very fun and beautiful. I highly recommend this activity while in Iceland. The Forest Lagoon was a true high light.

Great experience and well worth it

Pamela_K, Jun 2026
our guide was very good and you could tell she loved being a resident of the area all her life. She took time to answer extra questions and share insights into things that made our experience even more worthwhile. She personalized the tour to our interests. All parts of the tour were very interesting and well worth it.

Wonderful Day Trip from Akureyri.

kwarlum, Jun 2026
Interesting and relaxing, the Forest Lagoon Baths were a highlight of our trip! Michael was an excellent guide who was able to miss the crowds at Godafoss Waterfall and was full of interesting facts/information about Icelandic history, culture and way of life. The Waterfall was beautiful, and even better that we had the place to ourselves! Forest Lagoon baths is gorgeous, steamy and relaxing; and truly was the best experience even when it started to rain, the waters were the perfect temperature. Highly recommended tour and even nicer when Saga picked us up and delivered us back to port.

We enjoyed all of the stops on this tour. The museum was nice to see. The waterfall was beautiful. The highlight was the Forest Lagoon geothermal spa. We could have spent several more hours there.

Excellent tour of the waterfall, the turf homes and the spa. For us, it was just the right amount of time at each, well maybe a little longer at the turf homes would have been better. We had the option of being dropped off in the center of town, rather than at the boat, which saved us some walking. Highly recommended

Ronar, the guide, was great and very knowledgeable. Kass, the driver, drove very safely. Our visi was a day to remember!

Godafoss, Turf houses and Forest Lagoon

Pam_B, Sep 2025
This was a great tour. First we went to see turf houses, church, with cemetery, as well as beautiful Icelandic horses. The ride there was very scenic. Then we went to Godafoss Waterfall and it was majestic and showed off with a beautiful rainbow! The walk to the falls isn't too difficult. Then we went to Forest Lagoon for about 2 hours. This was a lovely site with beautiful view of Akureyri harbor/city. It was a perfect ending to the day and so restful and relaxing.

Jerold_M, Sep 2025
Well-organized experience with enjoyable stops at turf homes, Godafoss Falls, and Forest Lagoon. Adequate time provided at each stop and good tour guide info along the way on a comfortable motor coach. Easily found from cruise ship port. Highly recommended if these are sights you're interested in.

Godafoss waterfall

Norman_G, Aug 2025
Wonderful tour guide who was enthusiastic about her country Iceland and was very informative. Her name was Emma. Enjoyed walking down to right near the waterfall. Also enjoyed the forest lagoon. Their were chairs in the water and a table for my favorite drink the apple cider

Quintissential Iceland

DANIEL_P, Aug 2025
Tour guide was wonderful. Can’t recall her name but she was from Italy. We did the Godofoss Falls, geothermal lagoon, and a history museum. Loved them all.

Great Akureyri tour

tslandry, Aug 2025
Waterfall was amazing. Forest lagoon was very comfortable, not crowded, beautiful views. Surf houses were a very interesting tour.

Not long enough in the lagoon

yates11, Aug 2025
We had an hour at the turf house which was too long, and then only had 1hr25 at the Lagoon which included waiting for a wristband, waiting for a brief from the coach, getting changed before and after the swim which would have left 1hr or less to enjoy the lagoon. They should mention that there’s a free bus from the lagoon back to town every hour for those that want to actually enjoy the lagoon for longer than an hour. The lagoon itself is absolutely beautiful and it would be easy to spend 3-4 hours in there. They should make it clear that you’ll only have an hour or less to enjoy the lagoon.

Taylor_G, Aug 2025
3 great spots to visit and our tour guide was incredible. normally i book through the cruise line but i felt very reassured we’d be back to the ship on time and we were.

A great day out

Stephanie_O, Aug 2025
A great 5/6 hour trip for a short port stay on a cruise. The museum is small but amazing. Waterfall was impressive and Saga travel give you free coffee and a donut. Forest lagoon was lovely!

Great family friendly tour

Christina_F, Aug 2025
We just experienced this tour. It was so fun to do with our kids (9 & 11). Fönn was a great guide and gave all kinds of fun tidbits about Aykeuri, Iceland in general, current and past culture. The waterfall was awesome, the Happy Marriage Cake delicious, the farm explanation hilarious, and the Forest Lagoon makes me want to go back! Would 100% recommend.

Godafoss Falls are totally worth it!

Tammy_F, Aug 2025
Beautiful landscape, very nice bus and great tour guide from Spain. Loved seeing the waterfall. Our drop off point was nice and close and we even had time to shop a little and grab a drink and donut. Visiting the Turf house was unexpected and interesting. Forest lagoon is very nice. Can definitely get crowded as it is a fraction of the size of Blue Lagoon. You can see that they are expanding and that will probably help with the crowding. I would highly recommend this tour and a visit to beautiful Iceland. It is so unique!

Waterfall and Forest Lagoon

Emma_W, Jul 2025
Magnificent scenery, waterfalls, Turf houses and a fabulous trip to the Forest Lagoon, highly recommend. Great guide and the lagoon was fantastic, very clean and the water was great after a days sightseeing xx

A Perfect Excursion!!

townsendfamily, Jul 2025
Godafoss waterfall was breathtaking! We had plenty of time to view the waterfall and enjoyed a coffee/tea and Iceland donut afterwards. Also had time to shop in the nearby store for some gifts! We visited the Turf House which was so quaint! We loved the fact that 100% of the items we purchased there were made by those in the town and they kept 100% of the profits! Felt good to give back to such a nice community. The Forest Lagoon was the highlight! It was a little awkward showering before getting into the lagoon but the lagoon was beautiful and relaxing! Don't skip out on the Forest Lagoon frozen drink - it was soooo good! Absolutely no regrets on this excursion. Highly recommend!!
