    A must do!

It was quite nice. I didn’t know what to expect. It would have been nice to know the expectations ahead of time. Ex: I packed a cover up and didn’t need it. The facility was lovely and runned very efficiently.

    Relaxing Experience

    Jeffrey_L, Jul 2026
With the shuttle being right at the cruise pier it was easy to get to the lagoon. The lagoon was not crowded and not touristy, many locals go to this lagoon. Beautiful view of the fjord. Changing rooms and shower facilities very clean. The drink selection at the swim-up bars is somewhat limited, but this did not lessen the experience. A very reasonable price especially considering transportation was included.

Great place to relax in the warm waters

    zach_s, Jul 2026
This is a relatively smaller lagoon, but beautiful scenery and clear waters. They have stone tables located through to set your drink of phone on so they won't get wet. They had fun drinks to choose from and a very relaxed atmosphere. My only complaint (if you can call it a complaint) is that the shuttle service to/from the lagoon/city center is rather haphazard. The have a time table on their website, but says they increase frequency during busy times, but they don't say what is considered a busy time and what the frequency may be. We waiting about 20 minutes to get to the lagoon and about 30 to get back. There was a long line to leave and it took 3 shuttles to carry everyone back, but there was only 1 shuttle running, even though a second shuttle actually drove right past us while we were all waiting. We didn't care since we knew we had plenty of time to get back to the ship and we were all still very relaxed from the lagoon and drink.

    Must do in Akureyri

    Kleoh_C, Jul 2026
Forest Lagoon, a modern and serene oasis, is one of our favorites. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring Akureyri. I highly recommend booking in advance and bringing your own robes. They also have a swim-up bar, which is a great way to end the day.

    Nice wooded retreat

    Heather_P, Jul 2026
We visited this lagoon recently and it was a nice experience, overall. It’s nestled alongside the trees which makes it very relaxing. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The women’s locker room and changing area are sizable and offer shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hair dryers. Huge plus is the swimsuit spinner, which is helpful to help dry out your suit before leaving. I liked that they have seating around the perimeter of the lagoon and tables inside for your drinks. I gave it 4 stars because they don’t provide towels unless you pay for them, the parking lot is on the smaller side and it’s not as private as other lagoons. The day we were there, there were workers trimming trees in the wooded area behind above the lagoon. Plus, being off a main road, you can hear a lot of traffic noise. All that said, it was still a great experience and I’d recommend it and visit it again. They also seem to be adding on, so next time it’ll be larger.

Forest Lagoon is situated across the inlet from Akureyri and beautiful snowcapped peaks. Stunning location. Both private and open showers are available and also lockers. The only downside is the noise of the traffic going across the causeway.

    Response from Host, Jul 2026

So glad you loved the lagoon. Thank you!

Peaceful and relaxing and close to town

    MaryEllen_H, Jun 2026
I'd never been to a lagoon in Iceland and since I was in Akureyri for 5 days, Forest Lagoon seemed really small and accessible and a good beginning. They have a free shuttle from the downtown Port area so it's easy to visit even if you have no car. I got the ticket with a towel and one drink included and everything went perfectly. I went late morning on a weekday in early June and there were never more than ten people in the pools at any one time. Peaceful and such a pretty setting right along the fjord, and so relaxing! I definitely recommend a visit if you are in Akureyri.

    Perfect and surreal

One of the most peaceful experiences of my trip. Soaking in warm water while surrounded by the Icelandic landscape was magical. The atmosphere was relaxing, the facilities were beautiful, and it was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. If it starts to snow while youre there you'll feel more at peace!

    Fabulous Forest Lagoon

    Michelle_K, Mar 2026
Absolutely beautiful experience in a stunning location. Everything was perfect. Free shuttle bus is a must as taxis charge an extortionate amount for a 10 min journey.

    Very relaxing!

    Liz_P, Feb 2026
I walked from the city center and it was a nice day so it wasn't bad, just a bit icy. I don't know if walking is the best option, but I made it there and back. I spent about 2 hours there and really enjoyed it.

    Worth a visit

    Catherine_M, Dec 2025
It was so good we went there twice :) Amazing views and staff. Cocktails were nice and everything was very clean. Just a warning that when you book the 10pm slot the pool and bar closes at 11:30pm which we were not warned about. It is a custom to shower naked before going in and when coming out of the pool, but there are shower cubicles for the people that would rather have privacy. Only one cubicle for changing. This didn’t bother us but it may bother some. It is an experience that you have to do when visiting Akurayri :) We had the first drink free with the and and additional drinks were around the £4-£10 mark which is reasonable enough.

    Perfectly Relaxing!

    bookercazet, Dec 2025
Very relaxing, very calming…except for that cold plunge! But certainly very enjoyable place to unwind amongst the natural pines in the thermal bath areas and saunas overlooking Akureyri and the ski slopes at dusk.

    Susan_F, Nov 2025
It's exactly as it shows on the website, beautiful and stunning. Staff were great, greeted us and informed us of what to expect. Less than 20 others in the lagoon, the sauna was perfect. Can highly recommend going in Nov.

    Soooo Relaxing

    Darlene_H, Oct 2025
Very accommodating and not as crowded as other lagoons in Iceland. Lockers provided for clothing. And drink included was a nice touch.

    Relax and enjoy!

    Barbara_C, Sep 2025
Be prepared to shower naked with other women before entering the lagoon. There are a few private showers but not many so you will have to wait. Off season the bus runs only on the hour. Coming back to catch the cruise ship the cab that was requested never showed up. Fortunately the bus started going back and forth more frequently. The lagoon is delightful and much less expensive than Blue or Sky lagoons. The drink I had was delicious! Very relaxing!

Facilities very clean and well kept. Smoothie drink I had was lovely. Can get very busy as the morning goes on if there is a cruise line in port.

Incredible place! Lovely accommodations. In a beautiful location fairly easy to get to (or just use the free shuttle bus from HOF). The staff was great, the spa/pools and facilities were PERFECT!! Well worth the time, money and effort. NO regrets!

Good value, free bus pickup is very close to cruiseport, very clean faciity, relaxing experience, lovely view

    Enjoyable bath in Akureyri

    Donald_D, Aug 2025
We had not done a thermal bath and wanted to do this before returning home. Saw Forest Lagoon activity and booked through Viator The entry process is very fast and well organized. Rubber wrist bands used to enter, work lockers and pay for drinks. It was not super crowded and the water was pleasantly warm but not hot. They have a cold plunge and a sauna. My only negative comment is that we did not see mention of the shuttle when booking. Learned about shuttle only after we took a taxi to get there. Overall a very pleasant experience.
