The BEST WAY to experience the Colosseum. Our tour guide was fantastic! They were easy to find. The Colosseum Arena, Underground and access was incredible. It was honestly PERFECT. The day time crowds are so overwhelming, but we recommend doing both day and night because it’s a totally different experience, but the night tour was the best! We HIGHLY RECOMMEND and we will definitely do again. The negative reviews on here are wack - mostly people who don’t take responsibility for their own actions and mistakes, and trying to blame the tour company.

An amazing way to explore the Colosseum! The night setting made it feel peaceful and almost mysterious, far from the daytime chaos. Our guide kept things engaging and informative. Though I paid 5 times more on Viator than the official Colosseum ticketing site, the organisers were transparent about the pricing and services included in their email. Really glad I did this, it’s a whole new way to experience Rome’s history!

This includes the guided visit inside the Colosseum, followed by a walking tour of the Roman Forum area, Via dei Fori Imperiali, and concludes at Piazza Venezia.
Our records from the guiding team for your tour on October 11th indicate that the full itinerary was offered and conducted. We sincerely regret if you were under the impression the tour concluded at the Colosseum and chose not to continue with the group. We are reviewing our communication with guests at the start of each tour to ensure the full itinerary and meeting points are perfectly clear.

This tour was not as advertised! There was no access to the underground, tunnels or arena floor areas, which was why we booked it! The only "access" was viewing it from the 1st level. That being said, it was a very nice time of day to go, 5 pm as scheduled, less crowds and! nice to see things towards the evening, when the sun was going down. The Tour itself and our tourguide were great! I would recommend this Tour if you are looking for the last tour of the day. We were just very disappointed that there was NO underground access as advertised!!

This was so difficult to navigate in the evening. Too dark, not well lit, someone fell on our tour. The day time would have been much better. We also had a 84, 79 year old with us and it was sooooo much walking just to get into the colosseum. Also, our guide, although nice, was very hard to hear.

The night and underground tour was amazing! Our guide was so knowledgeable and painted an accurate history of gladiators and Roman rule. It was thrilling to walk where gladiators and animals waited to go into the arena.
The tour company communicated us with regarding directions, what to bring, and any slight changes in tour time.
The only uncertainty we had was prior to the colosseum staff opening up the gates to enter. We stood outside about a 1/2 hour before any staff told us where to wait. A number of different tour guides have groups, and we weren’t sure if we were in the right place. A lot of other people had the same uncertainty.

The tour itself was nice especially since the entire place was illuminated. For the 4 other tours we attended during our visit in Italy and Germany, this was the least exciting tour guide. Not sure if due to language barrier, she seemed to be knowledgeable enough, but the tour guide is very important to the experience. We just felt like ok walking through ruins, nothing really "came to life" for us. Also we were with a group of 10 and 5 of us got rescheduled for an hour later, so we got split up and even after telling them, this was disregarded. They have it in the fine print that you can get rescheduled, so beware. Instructions on meeting point were not great either, they say in front of the metro, but what they mean is at the entrance of the colosseum on the other side of the street of the metro entrance. No one was at the metro advising of the correct meeting spot.

Small Night tour. It was worth paying more for no crowds and the collosseum was beautiful and mysterious at night. Tour was informative but dry. A lot of information about the actual structure, less about the activities that took place. We were informed about the gladiator fights and hunts but I felt it lacked imagination and story telling.

Unique experience away from the crowds and high temperatures of the day.
Giovanni was an excellent tour guide, making sure not to miss a detail even as the Colosseum attendants tried to hurry us on!
We took the 8pm slot, which meant we were the first group in and had the place to ourselves- spectacular and rare.
Our tour was around the underground area, giving an insight into how the games worked behind the scenes, not to be missed.

This tour is the same official tour run by the Colliseum official site. The difference is that you dont have to go through the complex loops and hoop of trying to book tickets through the official site, albeit at quite a premium price. (For more info on this subject, i would recommend checking the italytravel sub reddit site).
Booking here would almost guarantee that you will have a spot on the day you want, but not the exact time you want, as the places per slot are limited. The tours run i think between 8 to 10:30, where a new tour starts every 15 minutes. So you need to keep that time free, as you dont know which time slot you will be fitted in until a day in advance.
The agency did properly communicate the above, and coordinated with us well on what time slot we got, as well as sharing the ticket to the event.
With the tickets in hand, we went inside the colesseum at the specified time, and met the official guide at the entrance to the main floor arena. She took us through the main arena, and then down some stairs to the underground floor of the Colesseum. We went around, while she explained some key information on what we were seeing and the Colesseum in general. There were some exhibition elements down there as well that were interesting, specially in terms of engineering the lifts and water systems of the gladiator's time. The tour ended an hour later to the dot.
In terms of experience, it is a once in a lifetime one, as you have basicallly the colisseum to yourself, and you can take great night photos of everything, with the added bonus of not havong a crowd around. Although the tour felt rushed, as we had only a couple of minutes for photos at each stop, the guide was trying to accommodate us as much as possible. My wife and I enjoyed it a lot, and i think we will cherich tbis memory for a long time.

This was absolutely disappointing . Discover Rome Tours confirmed multiple times with multiple tickets our 8pm your reservation when we arrived they told us that our tour would be later and they messaged me on WhatsApp only a few hours before. This was the day we arrived and centered our entire day around it. We were also traveling with a 5 month old. After expressing our frustration, Matthew (if that’s his name told us we could file a complaint for a refund). Just try to book directly with the Colosseo and do not use a third party. We were a party of 8 and are waiting for a refund since the your I reserved was one they did not have tickets for us for. DO NOT BOOK.

Your tour was originally booked for 8:00 p.m. and, due to high demand and Colosseum ticket constraints, was adjusted slightly to 8:30 p.m. — which falls within the time window clearly noted in the “Know Before You Go” section:
N.B.: Due to limited tickets and huge competition to get it, the tour schedule may change in the range of 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
We communicated this change in advance via email, WhatsApp, and also attempted to reach you multiple times by phone, though the number provided was unreachable.
Please also note:
Colosseum tickets are non-refundable once issued by the authorities.
However, these tickets remain valid for the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill on the same day, so they were still usable.
Despite this and the tour being outside our refund window, we have made an exception and are processing a partial refund for the difference as a gesture of goodwill.
