If you want to get to know the city, this is it! We had so much exploring the city with the stops we wanted to see. Tour guides on the bus were funny and informative.

If you get off at any of the stops it takes a very long time (about an hour) before another trolley comes to pick you up. We were told the trolleys run every 20 minutes. Not true. We were told they started at 9:00. Also not true. On a positive note the tour guides were fantastic.

Pittsburgh lived up to its good name with this tour

Ann_F, Oct 2025
Be sure to read and understand the schedule you're given. You may want to do the complete tour and then get off on the next go round. You have 8 hours max! This is a wonderful way to see the entire city that you would want to visit and you can get off and back on when it comes around again. I liked it so much I'm going to do it when I travel for the first time to other cities

It was convenient and flexible way to explore the city. The route covered all the major landmarks, and the ability to jump off and explore at my own pace was a huge plus. The onboard commentary added helpful context and fun facts along the way. One standout aspect was the driver—clearly very experienced and impressively skilled at maneuvering the bus through tight city streets and busy traffic. It made the ride feel smooth and safe, even in areas that looked tricky to navigate. It was a stress-free and enjoyable way to see the city, and the professionalism of the driver and tour guide made a noticeable difference.

Book direct, skip third party.

MsElaine_H, Sep 2025
Book direct with tour operator. Viator booked us on the wrong tour, therefore, we couldn't hop on or off at the numerous stops as the tour was a sightseeing one. We didn't get to visit the museums!

Fun way to see Pittsburgh

The hop on and hop off experience!

Rita_B, Sep 2025
The bus is on time and a great way to go to all "what to see and what to do in Pittsburgh" The tour guide on the bus has excellent knowledge of the city. This is the way to go to museums etc and not to worry about parking and the traffic. A new way to meet people. Thank you for this good way to enjoy our stay in Pittsburgh.

Great Tour - Even For Locals! (And/Or Previous Residents)

LoriRoman, Sep 2025
This was a last minute gem of an idea for my husband and I during my birthday weekend trip out from Phila. (Quick background - I went to Pitt and always had an affinity for Pgh. Fast Forward a decade or so, I intro'd my husband to the city and we moved there in 2011. We LOVED it! Our apt was actually in the background of the Tom Cruise movie, "Jack Reacher." That was very exciting for us! Lol! Also, one of my great friends I met in college happens to be from Pittsburgh and still lives there. For work reasons, we had to move back to Philadelphia. We were bummed and pine over the city every time we see it on TV. The last time I was in Pittsburgh was 2019). Ok, now back to my birthday weekend... We had tickets to the pirates game for Friday night but didn't have anything planned for Friday day. While we were still on the PA turnpike driving out, I happened to look up the Carnegie Museum because it had been decades since I'd been there. The first result that popped up was the Viator "Hop-on Hop-off" bus tour. I turned to my husband and said, "oh my God - there's a hop-on hop-off bus in Pittsburgh!" Without hesitation, he said, "Book it!" (We happen to think hop on hop off bus tours are the best way to get to know a city... Even though we already knew this city, we thought it would be a fun relaxing thing to do on a nice sunny day). There are 21 stops all around Pittsburgh covering Pitt's campus, the south side of Pittsburgh, downtown Pittsburgh, the strip district, the casino area, the ball parks, and the north side. And I'm pretty sure I'm missing an area... The stop we jumped on at was less than a 5-minute walk from our hotel right by market square so it was super convenient. The instructions tell you to wave to the bus driver so they know you are part of the tour and I was apprehensive about that, But the drivers and the tour guides are very cognizant about every stop. So they're looking out for people that could be waiting at one of the 21 stops. (In fact, it's quite impressive because the tour guides are providing details about history and architecture and cute anecdotal snippets of information and silly jokes all the while watching out for people at these 21 stops). Speaking of the tour guides, we had the pleasure of being on the bus with both guides, Tony and John, (the tour company had 2 buses going around that day - I'm not sure if that's how it is everyday or just because it was the start of a weekend). Both guides are great and funny - not trying to play favorites but we happened to spend more time on the bus while John was the guide. (They both had great dad jokes)! For the life of me, I cannot remember both bus drivers names, I feel like one was named Fred and I wasn't on the bus long enough to remember the first driver's name. (I'm so sorry! But I will say that anyone that drives a bus in a city through sharp turns, up Pgh hills and through traffic and red lights and pedestrians, etc., is a hero! So kudos to them! This was a great value for the money and I would highly HIGHLY recommend it to anybody, even Pittsburgh residents! Just be a tourist in your own City - Or if friends come from out of town, put this on their itinerary! Definitely a plus for us, considering it was a last minute add-on. And yes I'd book it again!

PatriciaC, Sep 2025
We went on a very hot day which co-incided with the opening game of the AFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers so traffic was very heavy around the stadium and the tour bus was held up. It was an experience though. The tour takes a good couple of hours and our guide was very informative and was a fan of Dad jokes. Good way to see the city

See and learn about Pittsburgh

Thomas_G, Sep 2025
A very funny and informative, double-decker, open air, Tourbus experience. Nathan, our tour guide, kept us in stitches. His knowledge of the city, really made it worth our time.

Will come back

Samstag, Sep 2025
I learned so much about Pittsburgh. Great driver, great host. The weather was perfect 9/12/25. First time here. Will come back.

Awesome tour!

Tricia_M, Sep 2025
Great tour! Leaned a lot! Vince was an awesome guide with the best “Dad “ jokes! i wish I could remember all of them! Collin drove the bus like a champ! All around great tour and highly recommend!

Disappointed

Debbie_R, Sep 2025
Do not use. Only saw one bus on Sunday and could not get on. Paid and could not use. Called ca and they said bus ran every hour and fifteen minutes. Stood for an hour and 45 minutes no bus

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Debbie, We are sorry if you didn't understand your ticket or were not in the right place. You reserved a 2:00pm pick up @ our 1st stop. We have a customer service representative at this location, in our storefront, from 8:00am -5:00pm so I am not sure where you were "standing" to wait for a bus. It is unfair to tell people to not use our company that numerous other people successfully toured with that day.

Great way to see the major attractions without driving and paying for parking. The tour guide was very informative and funny. Note: be at pick up point 10 minutes before arrival like the schedule indicates.

Good value tour!

Edward_D, Sep 2025
A great tour with a wonderful narrator. An excellent way to view the city of Pittsburgh. The hop on hop off is the way to go. They stick as close to the schedule posted with minimal wait time. If you’re looking for something that doesn’t break the bank then I recommend trying it.

Loved it!!

Marilyn_K, Sep 2025
We had such an amazing experience! We had never been to the city, so having a look at all there is with our VERY knowledgeable tour guide was great. The hop-on hop-off worked well.....to be able to shop, eat, and not have to worry about parking. 10 out of 10 we recommend and would do this again!!!

Must see

Jane_H, Aug 2025
The Hop on Hop off bus was the best thing to do in Pittsburgh. We loved everything Pittsburgh had to offer.

Disappointed

Robert_C, Aug 2025
Too few busses. Long waits for next bus at most stops and some stops were too far from the attraction.

Book directly with the company….not Viator.

Carol_i, Aug 2025
You can book directly with the company. Viator did not send me needed info prior to the trip and said they could not help me with a map of all the stop locations as they are the THIRD PARTY. Disappointed with Viator. Tour itself was great.

Very informative

karen_c, Aug 2025
Great way to get around the city and see all the hotspots and learn history about the area Highly recommend this tour

My 1st Pitt Trip

Sophia_M, Aug 2025
All employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and full of jokes. The tour provided a great overview of where we should visit.

Great People

Victor does care about their clients and it shows! From my purchase made easy to customer service when I put them wrong date. Philadelphia Victor's answers the phone and corrected my mistake! Thank you
