Not many manatees - that you can see, anyway

Sally_M, Nov 2025
Couldn’t really see the manatees, kind of lame, the water is very dark visibility about 8 to 12 inches down.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Blue springs is a very unique place being right off the St. Johns river. The clear spring waters mix with the Darker waters of the river. With the amount of manatees that come to this spring during the winter they rope off the main spring to protect the manatees, but with the 100s of manatees that flood in its not uncommon for them to come check everyone out at the border. Maybe on your next trip you can come to Silver Springs and enjoy the entire crystal clear river.
