What To Expect

Make your way to the Little Big Econ Canoe launch in Chuluota prior to a 9 a.m. departure time. Meet your guide to sign a waiver and go over a safety briefing. Instruction will also be provided for those new to kayaking. Then load up and jump in and hit the water for your half-day tour.

Paddle with your group down a portion of the Econlockhatchee River in Little Big Econ State Forest, known for its moss-covered cypress forests and high sandy banks. Stop for breaks every hour or so, as and when the need arises.

Break for a light picnic-style lunch along the riverside, with the possibility of enjoying a dip in the river, depending on timing and conditions.

Then continue rowing along the river. Throughout the tour, your guide will help you navigate the waters in your kayak and point out native wildlife such as alligators, hawks, and river otters. Your guide will also provide informative commentary on the diverse ecosystem of the area.

The tour concludes at the starting point, at the Little Big Econ Canoe launch.
