We took a girls trip to Napa and since some of us hadn’t been there we thought the wine tour was a good way to have a more informative Napa experience. Our trolly driver, Richard, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and really enhanced the experience for us all. We visited 3 very different wineries, all amazing in their own way. All 3 guides made each experience enjoyable and informative. The lunch was extraordinary, and highly an unexpected pleasant surprise. The restaurant, food, and service were spectacular. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Napa valley.

We had a great time on the wine train! It was great being able to sample wine at four locations and it also included lunch. It would be great to be discounted since patrons have to pay for each wine testing at each location if sampling wines. Thank you for the experience!

Do not wear a hat the trolley is windy but we all enjoyed the fresh air after drinking. The driver was very informative and friendly. Perfect way to get around to the different winery stops and see the wine country. Be prepared to pay the wine tasting fees at each stop ranging from $35-50. We all had a great experience and no complaints.

Very fun day on the Trolley…lots of wine!! The day on the Trolley really depends a lot on your fellow Trolley mates…our’s was the best. Great group of fun loving people. We ended up having after drinks and dinner with.
The wine stops were enjoyable: Rutherford with our quite cheeky host Doug, Backstage lunch was phenomenal and Bread and Butter winery, Tim our host handle our group perfectly as the last stop for these very (wine filled) guests. Monticello Winery could skipped as our feelings of being welcomed was lukewarm.
We bought some amazing wines at all the wineries except Monticello.
Overall a great…but very long day. Paced yourself. Seems the first winery, Rutherford, was quite a drive, passing many many winery choices b4 we arrived.

Our driver was so fun and kind! We went to four spots. Rutherford, Backstage, Monticello and Bread & Butter. Each place had a slightly discounted tasting fee. The trolley was so fun to ride, and we had a blast with our new friends!

The lunch was so disappointing. Napa is known for great food and wine. What happened to the good food? Wine was great and our cable tour guide was great, but the lunch was below par! Wouldn’t go again!
Response from Host, Jul 2026
We're very sorry that you didn't enjoy the lunch. There is in fact many great restaurants and food in the Napa Valley. We aim to provide an experience that suits a relaxing day of visiting multiple vineyards; and therefore our catered lunch at one of the wineries by a reputable chef, overlooking the vineyards, is a great addition to our daily tour. We appreciate the honest feedback, and understand that it may not have been the experience, but the food that was dissatisfying; in which we have notified our chef who will be changing his menu in order to prevent these kind of reviews in the future. We're glad that you enjoyed the wine, cable car ride, and tour guide. Regards.

The trolly was cool! Our driver and guide was awesome! All the wineries were amazing!
However - I knew when purchasing tickets that the tasting fees were not included. It would have been nice to see the prices or at least a general range for the cost of each tasting. So be prepared to spend about $45-$50 per tasting stop. Our tour that day stooped at 4!

A good way to see what to expect at the vineyard you really want to see.
The lunch was sub par at best. So bring a snack or two.

We had an amazing day on the Napa Valley Wine Trolley! Craig was a fantastic tour guide and driver - knowledgeable, friendly, and kept the day running smoothly. We visited four wonderful wineries: Rutherford, Monticello, Backstage, and Bread & Butter, each offering a unique experience. The included lunch was simple yet tasty, featuring chicken salad sandwich, fresh greens, and pesto pasta. Best of all, we made new friends along the way and enjoyed a fun, relaxing day exploring Napa wine country. Highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Napa!

A fabulous day was had by all.
We had a great host and guide.
My only criticism is that food/snacks were not offered at each vineyard to complement the wines.

The trolley was out of commission. I am sure if we had the trolley my stars may have been more. The driver was great and did a good job. He was knowledgeable
The first stop was not what I expected. We walked up to a barrel outside on a walk way and could try their wine for $50. No one was ready to just spend $50 to try their wine. One person out of 12 did it. We all didn’t know what to expect and this initial stop was off putting. It got better. We all talked at lunch and people felt the same way. I think we wanted to learn more about the land and the process of the wine making. The last stop oh my lord. She was rude. Anyone not buying a tasting she shoed away. She said she wasn’t going to bother with her 45 min talk. I insisted she did. We spent a lot to do this tour and a lot to try their wine. So she sat down and did educate us with some arm twisting. Her attitude was off putting. I can’t believe these vineyards and wineries act like they are doing us a favor. I would think as a business owner I would want to try and sell my wine and be a little less priced and warmer to people coming in.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Wow.. Thank you for letting us know about your experience so that we may address these issues. First and foremost, we do apologize that the trolley was unavailable, as we understand that the open-air trolley is what makes our tour unique. We sincerely apologize that you received the experience that you did with the last winery. We will address it to ensure that it does not happen again to future guests. We do state that winery fees are mandatory, as it is a wine tour, and our partners are expecting participants to in fact participate; however, the last winery of all is typically optional, as four wineries can sometimes be a lot, and we do not usually get this kind of feedback about our partners. As far as the first winery, we do state that winery fees range from $35-50 on this tour, and our partners are providing unique experiences for our guests at discounted costs. We're glad that the driver was great, and hope that you enjoyed the rest of the tour. Cheers!

We had a fantastic time on the Napa Trolley excursion! Paul was an outstanding tour guide—funny, knowledgeable, and full of great recommendations. We visited four wonderful wineries, each with its own unique charm, and the day was perfectly organized from start to finish.
One of the highlights was getting to know the other riders. We made some great new friends and shared lots of laughs along the way. Paul’s humor and local insights made the experience even more enjoyable, and his dinner recommendations were spot on.
This excursion was absolutely worth the price and one of the highlights of our Napa trip. If you’re looking for a fun, relaxing way to experience Napa wine country, I highly recommend the Napa Trolley!

The guide, Richard, is amazing. Very accommodating, pleasant and adaptable. The trolley was broken so a sprinter van was substituted. The sprinter had mechanical difficulties which led to air conditioning failure so the vehicle experience was uncomfortable. The winery visits were all enjoyable but tasting fees too pricy, especially Monticello for the experience. The other 3 wineries were reasonably acceptable . The lunch food experience needs improvement to offer options. I have done this same tour before with a better experience which is why I opted to do do it with others again. I understand machinery breakdowns occur but the customers should be compensated when the experience is less than acceptable as it is a business’s responsibility to provide the advertised service in comfort. It’s the same song and dance where companies leave the employee to take the hit for their failure to provide the employee what is required for a fully positive and successful customer experience. Thanks to Richard for all your efforts to make the Wine Trolley Tour pleasurable!
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review. We're glad that Richard was pleasant and accommodating, and that you enjoyed most of the winery experiences. We did substitute the vehicle for our passenger's safety and comfort due to extremely high temperatures, in which we also provide a discounted cost for the alternate vehicle; and therefore credited all passengers a partial refund that you should have received. Thank you again for your feedback. Cheers!

It’s expensive. In my opinion three wineries would have been enough. But, it was fun getting to know the other guests.

Paul our driver was excellent and really got the party going . Monticello was layed back and beautiful gardens. Backstage was fabulous and great lunch and atmosphere. Napa winery was a disappointment reported by many on our tour . Our guide spoke too much and too loud and didn’t keep track of the tastings. She just wanted to get through her talking points. The tasting room was so nice but we couldn’t enjoy the wine while she kept shushing us and rushing.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for your review and feedback about the winery to help ensure positive future experiences. It has been addressed. We're glad that you had an excellent time otherwise, and enjoyed the lunch. Cheers!

This was my first trip to Napa, and the trolley tour made it unforgettable. We visited four wineries, tasted some incredible wines, learned about the winemaking process, and even picked up some local Napa history along the way. The lunch provided was surprisingly high‑quality and delicious. Craig was welcoming, personable, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Response from Host, Jun 2026

Our group loves riding open air trolleys in wine country! We decided to do a Napa tour vs the Sonoma tours we normally do. This was so much fun! The vineyards are Gorgeous! We went in late May & the vines were just getting their grapes 2 weeks prior. The weather was cooler than normal but still very beautiful! The lunch served on the second vineyard was also very good & filling, which is good to soak up all that wine in your belly! My only side note is if you prefer white wine over red, this tour has very little. Reds are superior in this tour. But, you can ask for your pour to be a Chardonnay on a few tastings. Be sure to layer, in case it is windy & eat breakfast! Enjoyable experience throughout! A must do!

Richard and Craig are great! Both so knowledgeable about the area and make the experience memorable.
The tastings are definitely worth it, way more amounts than I personally was expecting, got my money's worth IMO.
This is totally a great opportunity for solo travelers through Napa or even anyone looking for a tasting experience. Will be recommending for sure

There is no food offered at the wineries, (only the lunch they served) you must eat breakfast before you come! Also it’s an additional $40 per person at all 4 wineries you go to for a tasting fee, if you want to buy a bottle of wine it waves that fee but we ended up buying so much wine. I was trashed at the end of the day and threw up. Wish we only went to three wineries, it was too much with no food except lunch.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Yes, eating breakfast before a day of wine tasting is recommended. We apologize that you got sick by the end of the day that you found the experience to be too much. Regards.
Leo_F, May 2026
The driver was punctual, friendly, and knowledgeable. He decided to use a "party bus" instead of the trolley because of the weather, which was reasonable.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for the great review despite your tour not being on an open-air trolley, as we understand that is what makes our tour unique. Cheers!
Kelsey_B, May 2026
Our tour guide was fantastic, all the wineries were great and the winery tour guides were incredible too. Unfortunately our last winery got abruptly cut short and we were rushed out before finishing the tasting or getting to explore.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for your review, and we're glad that you enjoyed the tour guide and winery hosts. We apologize that the last winery experience was cut short. We are not sure why this was. Please email us at info@napavalleywinetrolley.com with more information so that we can address it in order to prevent it in the future. Thank you.
Janice_C, May 2026
Tastings are pricey; wines are very good for the most part, just wish there were more white, rose, sparkling and champagne offerings. Lunch was great; presenters are knowledgeable and quite fun and entertaining; every stop was beautiful and relaxing with great history. I'd do it again 😀.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're glad that you had a good experience of the Napa Valley Wine Trolley despite being a red wine dominant region. Cheers!

Richard was an excellent tour guide and driver!! We went to 4x wineries and started to slow down at the 3rd winery. The lunch was great during the second winery 👌
