It was an amazing experience. Each vineyard was unique and the wine tastings were great. Be prepared to pay for the wine tastings at each vineyard. The lunch provided by the Trolley tour group was perfect. Our driver Mel was excellent.

Itinerary

Begin your wine-themed adventure by going to a designated meeting place in Yountville. Instead of traveling by public transport, enjoy a novel twist and put some fun into your vacation by traveling in a replica of a San Francisco cable car—an open-air motorized trolley.

To make the journey time go quicker, a guide provides commentary as you ride past stunning views of St Helena and Calistoga.

Then, after around 30 minutes, it’s your first stop of the day—Castello di Amorosa. During your winery visits, you can hear stories about how the wine is produced as well as choose to buy wine tastings if you wish.

The route continues with two more winery visits, with a gourmet picnic lunch included as part of the package, to help keep energy levels high in between wine stops.

Then, the day ends with a convenient return transfer back to your start point.

Good trip but expensive

Nicola_D, Feb 2026
The tour was quite expensive compared to other trips we’ve done; wine tasting not included in the price was expensive

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for your review. Cheers!

From sober to drunk tour

PedroAntonio_F, Feb 2026
The highlight of the tour is the Castello Amoroso. It’s perfect for wine lovers but if you’re not much into wine, it might be more practical to do the visit on your own. The tour will “drown” you in wine tasting to the point of the alcohol would kick in by the time you drive home. The Raymond Vinery tour was eclectic. I suggest that Raymond Vinery waive the wine tasting fees if their clients buy a bottle of wine from them especially if the bottle is in the 3 digits range.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for your review and feedback. Cheers!

Good experience

Wendy_M, Jan 2026
Something to keep in mind some wineries charge people even though people do not drink. It would be nice to know ahead of time how much they charge. You are given an estimate but it’s best to know the exact amount and also which wineries we are going to. We only knew of one in specific which was the castle. Also, the pizza that was included with the ticket was not offered. The restaurant was closed. The good thing we went to a different place. We did pay however, we were reimbursed. Overall, the experience was fun. Met people from different places.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank you for the nice review and rating despite the lunch inconvenience; we do apologize. We're glad that you had a fun experience overall. Cheers!

One and done experience

Stacie_W, Jan 2026
The idea is great. Be prepared to spend around $150 per person on top of the tour price. They didn’t tell us that we had to pay for the wine tasting at each stop even if the person doesn’t drink and isn’t doing the tasting. This was unexpected as we had 2 non drinkers. Lunch was supposed to be covered at a specific location and the restaurant was closed so we had to eat lunch at a burger place which was actually amazing food. But long lines, made us behind the rest of the day. We now have to submit receipts for reimbursement. Which is fine but unexpected. The tour itself was fun. The people we were with were a blast and our driver Mel was amazing!! He handled the day like a professional and was very friendly and accommodating. The wineries we stopped at were very nice and the wine of course was great.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Thank you for the review. We're glad that you had a blast despite the hiccup with the lunch destination being closed unexpectedly, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Cheers!

Angel_F, Jan 2026
The trolley tour to Castello di Amorosa was a fantastic experience. Our guide shared Napa Valley from a true local’s perspective, blending history, insider knowledge, and playful humor that kept the tour fun and engaging. I learned so much about the area, including the town’s Michelin-star restaurant scene and rich culture. The scenic ride and personal storytelling made the journey just as enjoyable as the destination. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting an informative, entertaining, and memorable ride.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Wonderful Wine Trolley

Stephanie_K, Dec 2025
We boarded the wine trolley and sat in an open-air section--wear layers if you are in a colder season--we did switch to the inside but still good to have layers. Omar our tour leader was wonderful with good stories/information and he played upbeat music at the end of the tour. We went to three very different wine experiences; a traditional winery, a more modern winery and a small tasting room attached to a small winery. We enjoyed them all for the experience, with some wine being better than others. We had a nice lunch of pizza and gelato which was included. The only thing to keep in mind is that the tastings are not included in the price and must be paid for at each vinyard.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you for your nice review. We're glad that you enjoyed your tour with Omar and the winery experiences. Cheers & Happy Holidays!

Cathy_R, Oct 2025
Didn't get to ride the trolly; was being repaired. The replacement coach was fine and Omar (driver) was fun. The Castle winery was the best. Unvievable facility and our table host was outstanding. Lunch was yummy and filling. Merryvale wine tasting was disappointing other than the table setting. Fun at last stop with Cole as host.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

We're glad that you enjoyed the castle winery, and appreciate the four star review despite the vehicle substitution.

Delightful Engaging Nappa Experience

Wendy_S, Oct 2025
The hostesses was very knowledgeable and personable. He was considerate and compassionate. The company made sure everyone was comfortable and started the experience with bubbly. Throughout the experience they provided water and encouraged hydration. The lunch was delicious and satisfying for any dietary restrictions.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for the nice review. We're lad that you had a delightful experience on the tour despite the vehicle substitution. Cheers!

Trolley ride break down

Francisco_J, Oct 2025
The driver of the replacement van was awesome! Not his fault for the breakdown of the trolley Howe ver we should’ve been given a discount or something because the TROLLEY was a huge reason the activity was chosen. 24 hour notice not enough time to cancel and book something similar. Disappointing.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for your review. We do apologize about the last minute notice, as we do try and give as much notice as possible. We do give a small credit per ticket refund when we have to substitute a vehicle. If you did not receive this credit, please contact us at info@napavalleywinetrolley.com, or call us direct. We're glad that the driver was awesome, and hope that you still enjoyed the tour. Cheers!

False Advertising and Poor Experience – Not Worth the Money

lizbeth_m, Oct 2025
I strongly do not recommend booking this tour through Viator. The experience was disappointing from start to finish and completely misrepresented. No Trolley – Just a Bus: The listing advertised a charming trolley ride, but instead, we were picked up in a regular bus. No explanation, just false advertising. Late Pickup: The bus showed up 20 minutes late with no notice or apology. Cold Food: The lunch provided was cold and bland, not what you’d expect on a wine tour. Hidden Costs Everywhere: Every winery stop required separate entry/tasting fees — nothing was included. We spent over $300 extra on top of the ticket price. False Lunch Destination: The tour claimed we’d have lunch at Bottia Winery (a well-known spot), but we were taken to an empty, lifeless restaurant instead. Terrible Winery Selection: The last two wineries were dead, with barely any service or wine available. Definitely not worth stopping at. No Guidance or Host: There was no tour guide or structure. The entire group was left in limbo most of the time, unsure of where to go or what to expect next. This wasn’t a tour — it was a disorganized shuttle ride with hidden costs and broken promises. For the money, you’re better off booking your own tastings directly with the wineries. Avoid this one.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

We apologize that the tour this day was disappointing. Unfortunately, as historic vehicles, we do have unforeseen issues such as this morning's break down, where we have to substitute with alternate vehicles. Because the break down happened the morning of the tour, it was in fact delayed and we had to use an alternate vehicle. We did reach out to all passengers as soon as it happened, and that's all that we could do in that situation. We did issue a partial credit back to all passengers for the vehicle substitution, as we understand that the open-air trolley is what makes our tour unique. We apologize again that you did not have the exceptional Napa Valley Wine Trolley tour experience that we strive to provide. Regards.

Wine trolley at castle with a friend

KAREN_S, Oct 2025

Lovely time, but one disappointment

Holly_M, Aug 2025
We originally were scheduled to be on another car, it broke down so we went on a different one. Our guide was personable and the first 2 vineyards were good. Our 3rd on was, however, very disappointing. It was a tasting room in a strip mall. The label had no vineyard, no winemaker of their own, and it showed. I felt we would have been much better off with the vineyards on our original agenda. Otherwise, we had a good time. Just get rid of Jean Edward’s tasting.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

We apologize about the breakdown, and that you were disappointed by the last tasting room. We like to include different winery experiences on our tour in order for our guests to experience a variety of wine tasting experiences, from well-known vineyards, to small production wines that they won't find in retail such as Jean Edwards. They do have a winemaker, and are known for having 90+ rated wines. We're glad that you had a good time otherwise. Cheers!

Napa valley castle wine tour

Shelley_L, Aug 2025
Was a great tour. But we had to wait for four ppl for 30 minutes and that made it impossible to explore the castle after our wine tasting. Also the driver we had who was very nice and knowledgeable didn’t like wearing the headset so we got no information as we were travelling through Napa and that was supposed to happen. But the wineries we went to were great Just wish we could have explored the castle and the lunch was very good.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thank you for your feedback. We do apologize for the tardiness of the tour; it has been addressed. Also for the lack of information received due to the driver not wanting to wear the headset. If there is anything specific you may have missed that you would like to know, we would be glad to provide that information. You can email any inquiries to info@napavalleywinetrolley.com. We're glad that you enjoyed the lunch and wineries, despite not getting ample time at the castle.

Steven_H, Aug 2025
Very nice tour castle was fantastic. Driver waited for a late party that was 25 minutes late and we lost time at the castle without that is was a 5

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thank you for the nice review despite the late departure that took away time from the Castle experience. We do apologize that it was not carried out in a better way to ensure our guests the time to explore more.

Overpriced

MATTHEWSAKS, Jun 2025
This is a very expensive way to sample some wine. Paying an additional $50 per person per tasting at each vineyard means that you’re paying close to $300.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Thank you for your review. Our partner wineries do provide special private experiences for our guests at discounted costs, however, we do understand that visiting three wineries can be costly. We hope that you enjoyed the tour despite the costs. Cheers!

Trolley wine tour on unreliable trolly

RANDY_P, Jun 2025
great fun but costs should be discussed before departure , only one castle on tour which was amazing but expensive wine tasting, I would recommend the castle tour and tasting at the next stop, wine was very good here , Raymond winery charged if you had a wine tasting or not? The 30 year old trolley broke down after the last stop, stranded along the road for an hour, had to call an uber to pick us up! Had to make our next connection!

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Thank you for your nice rating, and we're glad that you had fun despite the trolley breakdown and inconvenience. Cheers!

poor information

Guadalupe_R, Jun 2025
Very bad experience, mi friends and I paid for the trolley, Not not for the bus, we will like to have liked to have had informacion about this big and bad change, because the trolley trip it was very import for us, also, We will like informacion about that each taste wine stop, we should to pay for that, in resume we needed more informacion about all the trip

Response from Host, Jul 2025

We do apologize for the vehicle change, as we understand the open air trolley is what makes our tour unique. We're also sorry about the confusion, however, the winery fees are an additional cost, and we do try to state that many times upon booking to avoid the misunderstanding. Regards.

So Much Fun!

Great time aboard the trolley

Todd_B, Jun 2025
Not a wine drinker, but visiting the area I figured this was a good way to try some of the local varieties. The driver was very nice and well informed on the local history and each winery. The lunch was good, and had probably a bit too many sips but meet some great people in the group. The ratings couldn't have been more different. The castle was very refined and what I would've expected them all to be. Then the second was like a acid trip and rave all rolled into a winery. Last was a very small place, but fun and really informed us of what goes on behind the scenes! We were lucky, the weather was great, and the trolley didn't break down. I would certainly recommend it to a first time visitor. Enjoy it!

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Thank you for the review. We're glad that you enjoyed the wine tour despite not being a big wine drinker. Cheers!

Such a fun time!

Barajas_F, Jun 2025
Paul was great. Super helpful, positive and informative. The 3 wineries could not have been more different, making it that much more fun. I highly recommend the trolley experience.

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Thank you for a great review. We're glad that you had a fun tour with Paul on the Napa Valley Wine trolley. Cheers!

The Napa Experience

Ashley_K, May 2025
This adventure was expertly curated to show the full range of Napa wineries. From an epic castle with a great Pinot, to a farm meets Vegas night club winery with a celebrity wine, this tour had it all. My only wish was that there would have been more time to explore each of the stops.

Response from Host, May 2025

Thank you for the great review. We're glad that you enjoyed our winery selections despite the limited time allocated for each stop. Cheers!
