The crew went above and beyond what I expected. Lots of whales and on the way back to the dock, a bear and four cubs!
Very knowledgeable about wildlife and made a great book recommendation about the heritage of Icy Strait Point!

Best whale watch I’ve ever been on. Captain Alana is local and knows so much about Alaskan wildlife which was amazing.
The Captain and the tour guide were absolutely phenomenal. We saw Humpback whales and Orcas up close and personable.
This organization is FANTASTIC!! There knowledge about the whales and obvious love for the beautiful creatures is awe inspiring. They provided memories to last a lifetime. You will not regret the monies spent; it’s value is priceless!
Got to witness spectacular view of humpbacks bubblenetfeeding.. it's a small boat of 24 people and very knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend it.
Simply amazing. Capt. Dan took us to a group of Humpbacks who were bubble feeding. We followed them for an hour and saw so much including a breech. Then he showed us a brown bear on a beach and an otter eating clams. They were fun, they were knowledgeable and they really delivered.
We had a great experience! Our captain and wild life guide were very knowledgeable. They first took us along the coast where we saw bears! We got to experience bubble feeding by several whales. The boat is set up perfectly with a small group with side windows that open right up for unobstructed views!
Alanna and crew gave us an excellent time during our tour. They are very knowledgeable and we got some fantastic sightings of orcas and humpback whales. It was everything we had hoped it would be!
We saw Orcas, sleeping humpback whales. We were hosted by two ladies from the Hoonah community. The captain was really young. Amazing to have young women in leadership roles.
The crew of young women were fabulous! They really made sure to give us the very best opportunity to see many animals & beautiful spots. The boat was easy to view wildlife from, stable and comfortable.
This whale watching experience was very fun. We not only got to see whales, we got to see sea lions, bears, and dolphins. Great experience for all ages!
We saw some orcas and sea otters. Lots of spouts but always too far away to get pictures. Captain was very knowledgeable and did his best to make sure we saw whales. Just wish we had better positioning as other boats where able to be much closer than we were, at times blocking out view of the whales.
Capt Patrick and Neil were great, and the weather was spectacular- though, of course it gets chilly out on the water. Just a perfect day. Then someone yelloed, “Breach!” And voila! A gentleman said, “The silly thing is we’re expecting it to happen twice.” He barely finished the sentence when it did! Wow. So many whales! Made my Alaska trip! It’s a little hard to find the cruise. You go to the Icy Strait Whale Adventures booth at the Excursion Hub, a short walk from the green gondolas.
Great tour! We were able to see many whales! The tour guides were excellent and informative. Recommend
We had the best time. Our boat captain was so knowledgeable and we got to see not only humpback whales but we saw orcas and brown bear on the beach.
Very knowledgeable captain and naturalist! Kept cool under pressure!
Comfortable atmosphere on the boat. Loved that we were able to open the windows to see the wildlife better.
Amazing experience. Captain and guide were very knowledgeable. Saw 12 whales, sea otters, and sea lions.
This was the best excursion, our captain and hand showed us all the things! Whales, bears, sea otters, sea lions, bald eagles… we were so impressed and will tell everyone we know- this tour should not be missed!
Absolutely amazing tour! Leslie (naturalist) and Alana (captain) were exceptional! They had us on orca very quickly and then many humpback, including the local favorite named Wedgie! We even got a bonus and stopped on the way back to see a couple coastal brown bears on shore! Don’t hesitate to book this excursion! Great staff, small boat, overall excellent experience in beautiful Hoonah, AK!
These girls know what they are doing! Fantastic experience. Very knowledgeable about whales and their travels.
Nice little boat ride to where the wildlife is. The guys know where to find bears, orcas, whales otters and sea lions. We got to see them all (and eagles, too!).
The Ship was a perfect size, small group so we all had plenty of room to see everything! Our Captain, Alana, made sure we could all see everything we wanted! Especially the Humpback Whales! Which didn’t disappoint! Many Breechings!! Would go again and again!
Our captain Alana was from the village of Hoonah and grew up with her family doing crab fishing. With that she became familiar the waters in this Bay and quickly got us to a feeding area for the whales. On the way, we also stopped to observe some large bear cubs walking and eating along the beach. When we first saw the humpback whales, she explained the behavior to watch for and we were lucky enough to see movement and many flukes, even 3 whale flukes at once. The most spectacular was a breach of a nearby whale and the then 5 other breaches in the distance. We were thrilled at this experience!
Great experience! Easy process to get from our cruise ship to the staging area and then to the boat for the tour. Captain and Naturalist were friendly and helpful! Both were realistic about expectations- but were really excited when we were able to see orcas near the humpbacks as well as a Mama bear with her 3 baby cubs on the shore. It was an amazing experience!
This was an amazing experience! Our crew was incredible and we were able to see orcas as well as humpback whales.
It was obviously that our crew loved their jobs. Their excitement matched that of their customers which was so refreshing to see!
We had an amazing tour. Patrick was a great boat captain and Paul was an awesome, knowledgeable nature guide! We saw Orcas, humpbacks and even bears on our tour. We definitely recommend using Viator for your excursions!
It was an amazing tour worth every penny. Our family of 10 had a great time watching a bunch of Orcas, sea otters, and hump back whales. Our tour guides were very informative and went above and beyond to ensure we got a great experience finding and watching these whales.
Must do activities in Hoonah.
We hit the trifecta - lots of whales, a pod of orca coming towards us/diving under our boat, a family of brown bears finishing up their salmon. Great crew, they were as excited as we were! We heard “Wedgie” (one of the whales) sing. A great experience
Very knowledgeable and friendly crew. We saw a pod of orcas and one breaching humpback whale. Great experience overall.
Be careful and use GPS to find location.
Tour left without us. Still had to pay. $297. Hopefully they will refund. I call and left voicemail messages which said they would call back within 24hours. To their credit they called back 15 minutes before departure.
Kate, our guide was awesome, she has in-depth knowledge and love of the environment, animals and this elevated our experience a lot. Captain Alana brought us very close to whales. Fascinating experience, absolute must
