History comes alive.

Robert_S, Apr 2026
Beautiful facility with great information and artifacts telling the story of Hawaii and those who impacted the culture of the islands.

Aussie Vacation

Leanne_R, Mar 2026
A good example of the history of Hawaii and it's people. Worth a visit to the planetarium and Tutu's place. You can take as long or as short as you like visiting the museum. Only issue is getting upand down the flights of stairs for each building and the exhibitions if you have sore knees or recent knee surgery.

Yes will return

ray_n, Feb 2026
So thorough, so much history we couldn't even finish it all. They showed so many interesting things, about Hawaiian culture and how it came to be.

Wonderful experience.

Noel_M, Jan 2026
It was amazing, to learn about the history and culture of Hawaii. However it is a very big complex, plan for that.

Hi History

Heritage, Tradition, and Culture in one place

MaLena_W, Dec 2025
Be sure to go early. There is so much to see and experience. We went too close to closing time and restaurant closed.

Amazing knowledge of Hawaiin culture

Beautiful experience

Janet_B, Aug 2025
It was a great learning experience! I do really wish the planetarium was open though, it was one of the main things we had wanted to go see.

Great museum with a rich and varied collection.

Aditya_S, Jul 2025
Due to a very busy schedule, we had planned just 2 hours for this visit to Bishop Museum. But if you're truly interested in the local history, keep at least half a day.

Must Visit!!!

Paula_B, Jun 2025
This was a wonderful experience learning about the history of Hawaii’i. There are numerous exhibits featuring the fascinating history of the island.

Must see!

Joyce_M, May 2025
Well laid out. Gave history of not just local but polynesian culture and migration. Enjoyed the fishing hook display and various woven mats.

Carol_H, May 2025
Enjoyed the main museum and all its displays. Planetarium was closed unfortunately Bldg C was also closed. Science bldg was interesting but they did not do the lava demonstration on the basement. Since quiet a few areas were closed I felt the ticket price could have been lower

Very informative

Jennifer_K, May 2025
Make sure you have the full 8 hours to tour the museum if your partner loves to read every tidbit about everything. Don't waste your time going to the Castle portion. There's nothing there but a huge furry hit. Kids will find the museum boring, but will enjoy the interactive science building.

Outstanding Hawai’i Museaum

Joan_D, Apr 2025
Wonderful tour guide, displayed well marked, great explanation of history, beautiful grounds. So enjoyed the planetarium on navigation by stats. Stayed 4 hours and will definitely return on our next visit.

Bishop Museum

Barbara_P, Jan 2025
Exhibits are very nice, beautiful woodwork but the planetarium needs a lot of work in the waiting area

Worth a Visit

Pamela_B, Dec 2024
Bishops Palace provided an in depth look into Hawaiin culture and history of the building, and the people who lived there. Great for teenagers to explore at their own pace. Beautiful architecture.

Ticket for a closed museum

Jim_S, Nov 2024
Museum was closed Thanksgiving . But you sold us tickets anyway. This was the only day we had availble I

Origins of the Hawaiian People

Cynthia_R, Nov 2024
The large map in the exhibit showing the migration of populations, and the complete description of origins of the Hawaiian people ('indigenous').

Better double check the ticket price with the museum before you buy on viator

MingYuk_C, Oct 2024
The museum itself was great! However I was told ticket is only 5$ on that day when checking in at the reception, and the ticket I bought on Viator was 33or4$ which is non refundable….

Refuses your refund requests

Trevor_H, Sep 2024
The museum was great, viator is a terrible company that refused to let us refund. Buyer beware just get your tickets there instead of going with this borderline scam of a company

Beautiful Historical Museum

Karla_M, May 2024
I would highly recommend this museum because it contains so many artifacts and history about the past Hawaiin leaders and their beautiful culture.

Not worth the time or money.

Marilyn_H, May 2024
There really wasn’t anything memorable about this experience. Some of the exhibits were closed and the others weren’t very interesting.

Great for us... and future generations

Joseph_P, Apr 2024
Loved it all. Especially the feathered Kahili room, and the sweet story of stone Kaneikokokala now 'staying warm'. He seems very happy.

Must Visit

Rainia_N, Apr 2024
Enjoyed learning about Hawaiian culture as I didnt know much before traveling to the island. I look forward to returning and staying longer to explore.

Amazing

Richard_S, Mar 2024
The rich history depicted in pictures and wonderful historical articles collected and preserved over the years.

Plan 1/2 day to get the full museum appreciation

Stephen_R, Feb 2024
Enjoyed all the exhibits and the grounds. We should have allowed more time on our travel plans for the Bishop Museum.

Donald_K, Jan 2024
Displays were very informative, building was simply amazing. A real gem to visit on a iffy weather day.

Wonderful day

Mark_S, Jan 2024
Very educational and interesting. Loved seeing so much of Hawaiian history. Well worth your time to visit.

More than you expect

Kelly_J, Jan 2024
It was raining, so I needed to find a place indoors to enjoy. We spent two hours here, but could have spent more. It was more than I expected. The main building/museum was so ornate and well designed. Learning about Hawaiian and other native island groups was interesting and included so many artifacts.

A collection that is beyond expectations.

Jonathan_T, Jan 2024
Too much to absorb in one visit. The sheer magnitude of the structure itself is astounding. The collection includes one incredible piece after another.
