Spectacular bat display! Recommend 100%! Magical! The sunset, the cave, the wildlife and scenery brought so much more to the experience. Brandon, our guide, brought so much detail to the experience. Love the photos he was able to capture of our group of 5 sisters! Recommend bringing water shoes and clothes your not afraid of getting wet.
So much fun and perfect for beginners! We had a wonderful time and saw so many bats! Definitely recommend!
There are no bathrooms at the parking area but there are woods. Make sure to expect of you want a single or tandem kayak. I thought we’d paddle more than we did but it was great being on the water.
Loved the facts about the lake and its history as well as the cave. You don’t kayak inside the cave but you do get to see it. The bats are amazing and I’d highly recommend viewing in slo mo!! Such a cool experience overall.
Relaxing way to learn! Katie took care of the instructions and answered questions with a smile! Nice evening with the bats!
This trip was absolutely amazing. I am an ultimate beginner at almost 50 years old and I found that it was absolutely doable for me even though I was in the back of the line the whole time. I found a good laugh about that and everyone was really kind and one of the leaders stayed in the back with me too. I can’t remember names well, but our leaders were fantastic. They were very knowledgeable and they gave us the best sightings and the best locations, even when there were potential storms coming our way and they kept us safe. Highly recommend and totally want to do again.
Tons of fun. Guides super knowledgeable and friendly. Bats were awesome sight to see. Even a novice kayaker can do this.
When I read the description I honestly thought it would be just a history lesson and a view of some bats in their habitat but it was so amazing seeing them fly and learning from very knowledgeable ladies on different birds and their territories and behaviors. It was so worth it. I had a tone of fun. And it was my first time kayaking. Took some getting used to but I was well taken care of and was given great advice.
Our guides were very personable and had a lot of info to share about the area and birds before dusk and the bat flight. It was very peaceful and enjoyable kayaking around the lake. I had not experienced a bat flight when you are literally in their environment, and some flew very close to us as we sat on the water. It was one of my favorite experiences of my 3 week vacation. My husband had gotten injured and could not go, but they told him about driving over to the other side to a dock where he could watch the bats exit the cave. I appreciated their concern so that his evening was not a waste. I loved it.
Immerse yourself in one of nature's unique experiences by lake kayaking to the mouth of a cave at the convergence of east Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. Learn a few facts about the scientific, historical, environmental and cultural qualities of the area as you approach the main event: the emergence of thousands of bats over the lake.
Wonderful experience! The guides were very helpful for anyone who has not kayaked, making safety top priority! The guides were fantastic and informative! We learned facts about local history as well as about bats and other species . Very exciting when the thousands of bats came swarming out of the cave at dusk. We would highly recommend!
The experience was awesome. Our guides were amazing, very knowledgeable about the history and wildlife which added to the experience, they were professional and concerned about our safety as it thundered a little bit but reasonable in their judgement so we could make the most of our time on the water. Would definitely recommend this outing for a great time outdoors.
Thanks Guy and Katie. Tonight (6/30) was a wonderful experience and a family one. Appreciate your in-depth instructions and detail throughout the entire ride. Thx for filling our vacation. Orl FL - Sanders Family.
What a great experience! Beautiful scenery, fantastic, knowledgeable guides, and lots and lots of bats. Breathtaking when the bats come out of the cave and fly all around you. We saw eagles and other wildlife as well. I went solo, but never felt "alone." I met so many nice people. I will definitely go back and will encourage everyone I know to go. Glorious evening.
Very knowledgeable guides. Take your phone so you can take pictures. It will fit in the pocket of life jacket. I didn’t and wish I did!
Definitely a fun and educational experience!
My daughter and I had never kayaked before. Our guide was very patient and helpful!
Watching the bats was such an awesome experience!
A truly beautiful place. The bats were amazing. Peaceful and serine. Our guide Sam was so nice and a great patient teacher. He was full of knowledge. We really enjoyed ourselves!!
What a calming and beautiful experience. Anne was such a great guide. If you’re thinking about this tour I’d highly recommend.
Pretty easy kayak trip. The bats were definitely the highlight of the short journey. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable.
We very much enjoyed the sunset paddling experience, let alone the experience of seeing the bats leave the cave in the evening in droves! It was amazing!
Worth every moment. The guides were phenomenal. Very informative and entertaining. The bats at the end was breathtaking. Great family experience.
Went in April, wind made first part of trip a good work out., but not too strenuous. We saw Osprey and their nests up close, and one that just caught a fish. The sunset was beautiful and long lasting. We also saw 2 trains go by which was fun. When the bats came out the lake went quite still and quiet. I guess the insects were doing their best to not get eaten. Our guide Margaret was very educational and it was a wonderful experience. Bring sunglasses, something to pull long hair back and maybe a dry change of clothes for after. I highly recommend it to others and hope to bring other people to the spot again.
You need to have experience kayaking! They expect you to stay close to other boats, turn frequently in the water and stop and reverse. So no experience necessary is false. The lake has a current you fight to go where you want and stay in one place when you stop. The trip could have been cut in half by starting later and just kayaking to and from the bat cave v out to two other places and stopping. The caboose guide- I think her name was Casey- was fantastic and very encouraging. If it had not been for her I probably would have been in tears by the end. The lake is gorgeous.
We saw osprey and we think greens as well as bats. It was a great tour our guide was very patient and tried the tour to what we wanted to see. He also provided some history about the area
It was a very fun trip! For my first time kayaking they were able to help me figure it out. Saw bats and many other wildlife.
Exceptionally warm and personable guides who had great enthusiasm for what they do. Informative, fun and a beautiful experience.
A Very Relaxing Way to end your day enjoying the sunset and bats! We saw a beaver, an egret and lots of bats!
A lovely, surreal experience. Luke is a wealth of knowledge. The sunset on the water was beautiful, and we got to see lots of bats. I highly recommend. We had a great time!
The guys were super fun and helpful! Highly recommend they make you feel super comfortable and the end experience is amazing. Quite a workout though
Great kayaking tour and the bat's flying out of cave with the most beautiful sunset was so amazing. Both the guides were very knowledgeable and gave us an experience that we will not forget !!
