Itinerary
The ghost hunt begins on McCallie Avenue, across from the dimly lit First Christian Church. Here, you’ll greet your guide and receive an introduction to the advanced equipment used to increase the chances of contacting the dead: learn about tools such as the parascope and laser grid light before heading to your first location on foot.
Peer into the darkness at Patten Chapel, scouring for a sighting of Anna, who has, on occasion, opened the locked door of the chapel in order to reveal herself. Hear haunting tales of the maintenance man who committed suicide in Hooper Hall and venture to the dark recesses of the cemetery in the hope of encountering Tim, a restless soul sighted regularly.
Your tour concludes at your original departure point on McCallie Avenue.

Dale was our guide. Super friendly and informative. We lucked out and were the only ones in the tour. The cemetery had a lot of history and energy.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Hi Teresa, I remember y'all! As I recall, we had a cancellation so you all wound up getting a private tour, and Dale said it was very active. I'm so glad you had a great time. Thank you for joining us.

We had a lot of difficulty hearing our guide. Though there were only 4 in our group we could not hear what he was saying half the time. Best equipment was IR camera and only 1 was provided. Didn’t find anything but amazing evening for a walk through the campus and cemetery.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hi Kimberly. I'm sorry it has taken a few days for me to respond to your review; I was trying to get info from my guide about what happened or didn't happen on your hunt. While I can count on 2 hands the number of nights, since we started the hunt more than 10 years ago, that we had little to no activity, it sounds as if, unfortunately, the night you were along was one of those nights. Dale said that, other than Anna sluggishly playing the "orange" EMF game and a few EMF bursts from Joe and George's graves, that the main activity was when he asked whether the spirits wanted the group to leave, which pretty quickly elicited the responses "finish, faster, necessary, walk, period." :o
Therefore, if you will call me, I am happy to have your group come along free on either a hunt or our Murder & Mayhem tour, to make up for the lack of activity that night. I am so sorry the spirits were so grumpy and uncooperative when you joined us, but I assure you, it is very rare that our hunts wind up like that.
Also, I have asked Dale to make sure he faces the group and speaks up, or use a speaker, when addressing the group. Thank you for letting me know.

We had Luna, she was fantastic. Great stories, information and just a great all around person 10/10 would do again!
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Hi David, I'm so glad you had a great time on the ghost hunt with Luna. We are so lucky to have her- she's great with both the guests and the ghosts! Thank you for joining us.

Great experience with very knowledgeable hosts! My entire family went with me and we all found it very enjoyable to have the opportunity to walk around the UTC campus with EMF devices and other various tools to hunt ghosts. I would highly recommend that you partake in the ghost hunt and would also recommend the ghost tour as both are wonderful! Thank you!!
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Hey Kyle, thank you so much for such a sweet review! We really enjoyed your family and hope to see you again sometime.
Allison_R, Oct 2024
I had a lot of activity by the chapel was was disappointed the cemetery was so quiet. My meter did light up pretty good when I tripped so one of the spirits had a great sense of humor!
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Hi Allison, I'm so happy you had a great time on the hunt, and that you had a lot of activity at the chapel. Sorry the cemetery was so quiet- unfortunately, we can't control our ghosts, but that just goes to show we aren't faking anything! LOL, now you see why I have folks sign a waiver about tripping in the graveyard- there are some mischief-makers out there! :)
Tracy_M, Sep 2024
Dale was very passionate about his work. He was informative. However I did not feel the experience was worth the amount charged. Nothing against your company or Dale.
Response from Host, Sep 2024
Tracy, I'm sorry that you did not enjoy the ghost hunt. If you would like to call me to give me more details, it would help us do better in the future.
patty_b, Jul 2024
The cemetery hunt was a blast. Nothing really spooky happened but still had a great time. Getting to use the equipment was an added bonus!
Response from Host, Aug 2024
Hey Patty, thanks so much for joining us! I'm glad you enjoyed the equipment and Dale.
Robin_M, Jun 2024
We had an awesome time. Definitely would recommend this to anyone who wants to try a ghost hunt!! Using the equipment was really cool.
Response from Host, Aug 2024
Hey Robin, thank you for your review. I'm so glad you enjoyed the ghost hunt. Dale has been doing ghost hunting longer than any other guide I've ever had. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Connie_K, Apr 2024
The tour guide was hard to hear and it was very slow paced. He had good stories but it was actually boring
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Hi Connie. I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the ghost hunt. Our guides don't use a speaker on the hunt because it is a much smaller group, the cemetery is quiet, and we don't want to disturb the peace of the dead, plus we want guests to be able to hear the equipment. Because this is an actual experience and not a fake haunted house or the like, we can not control the ghosts, and some nights are more active than others. I've already heard from others that the very next night was very active. You may have enjoyed the tour more, as it is more about the stories.
Kelly_L, Mar 2024
The tour was amazing and Dale was a great guide! Would take the tour again! Thanks for the experience to hunt ghost
Thank you
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Hi Kelly, thanks so much for your review of Dale's ghost hunt. We agree- he's awesome! Thank you for joining us.
Carol_B, Dec 2023
The tour started with our guide introducing the equipment and leading us to areas where he knew the information on specific spirits. Then we were led to the cemetery and we used the equipment. We did have some experiences and it was a blast.
Vanessa_B, Oct 2023
Great mini vacation for my daughter (age 34) and I (older Mom). The tour was fun. Nothing over all spectacular but it was still fun!
Judy_P, Oct 2023
My husband and son were able to make contact with a John who confirmed the Det Lions would win the Super Bowl in our lifetime
Steven_W, Aug 2023
When asked if it was a woman on a grave stone it lit up the k2 meter but did nothing when asked if it was a man. Then we checked and it was a lady by the name of Martha. Great experience. 10-10 would recommend.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Thanks so much for your review, Steven! I'm so pleased you had a great time with Dale, and that it gave you some great results. Dale has had some amazing and creepy things happen in that cemetery. Thanks again for the recommendation!
Stacy_M, Jul 2023
The tour guide was very nice and told us a lot of information about the area and different ghosts that reside there. During the cemetery hunt my daughter, son, and I begin interacting with something that gave us intelligent responses on the k2 meter. According to our questions it was a male confederate soldier. We also heard a footstep on the gravel path. We experienced weird readings on the K2 around the campus as well and the oculus said my middle name. All in all a great experience and fun happenings. I definitely recommend!
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Hi Stacy, I'm so glad you had a great time with Dale! I'll point out for the folks who haven't been on our hunt that the hunt does go in to a confederate cemetery, so what you said makes complete sense. :) Thank you for the recommendation!
Leah_G, Dec 2022
Me and my friend went for her birthday. Our tour guild was Dale and he did an amazing job! It was very informative and he showed us how to use the equipment in a way that was very easy to understand.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Hi Leah, I'm so glad you had a great birthday hunt! Wonder if "Anna" the bride chose to say hi. :)
We hope to see you again sometime.
Michael_K, Oct 2022
Dale was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful throughout the entire ghost hunt. From informing everyone about the history of haunts to keeping the tour fun and interactive I highly suggest booking a ghost hunt.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Hi Michael, I'm so glad you had a great time with Dale. He has actually been doing ghost hunts longer than any other guide I've ever had, and tends to attract things. Thank you for joining us!
Julie_T, Sep 2022
We loved this experience. It was part historical and part spOoOkY! Our guide, Donnie, was amazing. We didn't realize we would have ghost hunting tools to use!! We would love to return.
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Hey Julie, we had a great time with you too! We've had several folks for years who have been requesting something where they get to both hear stories AND use equipment, so we recently added a combo tour/hunt with Donnie too.
We look forward to seeing you in the future!
Reni_J, Aug 2022
Interaction with the mean reverend was neat. Experiencing it with my son, who has always been fascinated by the spiritual unknown. The guide was great. He was very informative. The only issue is that it wasn't long enough.. It seemed that by time it got active time was up.
Felipe_G, Aug 2022
Donny was a very good guide, very informative, he explained how all the equipment worked, very polite and attentive, we talked with a ghost for a few minutes
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Hi Felipe, I'm so glad you had a great time on the hunt, and that you had a responsive ghost communicating with you! Donnie told me your group was a lot of fun; I'm glad you agree!
Christina_K, Apr 2022
It was an amazing experience. First time interaction with ghosts and it did not disappoint! The whole group got to experience the talking boxes. Cant wait to come back and do it again.
Kimberly_W, Apr 2022
I have always been skeptical of ghost hunting. Now I believe in ghost hunting. It is true. Will do it again. I want to thank our tour guide. He was awesome. I just can't remember his name. I know that is crazy. I really think that everyone should try ghost hunting at least once.
David_P, Mar 2022
What a fun experience! Our guide was very knowledgeable about the ghosts in the cemetery and where the hot spots were! He also “debunked” some of our ghost “finds,” so when we actually did come into contact it was that much more real! Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and memorable time!
Anthony_T, Mar 2022
This was very fun, Im still on the fence on if I believe or not. This was well worth the cost. I would recommend this attraction.
SandraA_B, Aug 2021
Our guide Dannnyvwas wonderful. He had some great stories as me very friendly. By the Union soldiers grave our meter went off which was exciting! It rained got a few minutes so we sat under a shelter and Danny picked up a voice and had a conversation with a spirit! So much fun.
Miranda_W, Jun 2021
Absolutely wonderful!!! The nice fella with the ponytail had great stories and was very helpful and protective of us and we all had a blast and I for certain will be coming back!!
Christine_T, Apr 2021
It was not what I would say a bad experience but not something to write home about. The entire time it felt like it was staged. I give it 2 stars because the tour guid was funny at times and very professional. Just seemed like a routine they go through with each group.
Response from Host, Jun 2021
Hi, I'm sorry you did not find the story believable. However, you should know it is not something we made up. This came from a newspaper article in the Chattanooga Commercial entitled Horrid Spectres. The year was 1887, though my copy of the article is too faded to read the exact date. However, it was on page 5. We do not make up any of our stories.
Thank you for giving the reason for your review.
Eric_P, Apr 2021
The wife and I wanted to do something that we have never done before. Wow what a great experience an really enjoyed are self’s.
Sara_H, Jun 2020
The hunt is very hands on and you get to hear a few stories. You get the chance to branch off into your own groups which is nice. You really get the full experience. We didn’t have any big personal experiences other than a strange feeling but it was definitely a blast! Donnie was awesome and very informative. Can’t wait to come back and do another!
Frances_D, Aug 2018
This experience was great! It was our first ghost hunt and some we learned some great knowledge as well as some interaction with an entity or two. The guides were amazing, and even asked to keep us longer than expected!
