First, I want to state the positive of this exhibition. The guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely professional. With that said, there were several downsides. First, the company stated that the time opening we requested was not available (I.e. 3 pm). There was a miscommunication between the guide and the booking company as the guide was expecting the time requested versus the time that was assigned (one hour later). Our entire party had to scramble to meet our guide otherwise risk losing reservations with one of the restaurants. Being a former person working downtown Chicago and having some city knowledge, riding the L-train (in my opinion) was a sort of a downer. The tour never mentioned anything about walking (as their competitors did). One of the people in our group was handicap and this is not a handicap friendly tour. The food was mediocre. I think everyone mentioned that the pizza was not appetizing with the sausage on it and many didn’t feel well afterward. The only beverage was water and I would expected soft drinks with the cost of the tour. If I was to do it again, I would have pick and chose my own if you are just wanting a Chicago food culture background.

Dash was terrific! The tour itself was good, but what made it exceptional, was him. He has and SO much knowledge about the city, great stories, tons of history-those are the things that made the tour so great!

Our tour guide Dash was wonderful!! He shared a lot of history, took us to the best spots for each food item and took us on the train as a surprise. I highly recommend this tour if you are looking for something to do for a couple hours.

Five of us arrived three minutes late for 1:00 food tour. They were gone and no where in sight. Despite having my phone number and email address, we received no notices asking for our wherabouts. We learned later that the company’s proper protocol is to wait 10 minutes. When we called the number we were given we were scolded by the first person. We called back and the second gentleman was much more sympathetic and rightfully shocked at what happened. Though I am in the process of receiving a refund our day in Chicago was ruined.

One of the best food tours we’ve been on in the U.S.! Chicago Dave knows his city and its food well and had the perfect balance of seeing things, hearing about the history, and of course eating some amazing Chicago delicacies.
My only advice - there is a lot of food, so eat a small breakfast or be prepared to have leftovers for dinner!

Chicago Dave was absolutely amazing!! We did a private tour with just 4 of us and it was perfect! It was not only a food tour, but he also gave us the history of Chicago, including stops at the original Marshal Fields Department Store and a visit to the terrace of the Sears/Willis Tower!! I would absolutely do another one of Dave’s tours (maybe the boat tour that he is just starting to do) and absolutely recommend his tours!

Booked the Original Walking Food Experience in Chicago with Tastings.... Went to the meeting point and they NO SHOWED. Called the tour operator and it went to voice mail. Called viator and got grilled on my location. Just got my money back now. Terrible experience.

Our guide Dash went above and beyond! We were running late to get to our tour and since we were the only people on the tour, he came to meet us and he changed the route on the fly so we still got to eat all our classic Chicago foods at historic Chicago locations. Then, at the end of the tour, Dash shared tons of links with his other Chicago recommendations. Awesome!

The Chicago hot dog, loved it! And loved the restaurants we ate at. Wish the pizza was veggie not sausage…each food contained meat.
