Make your way to either Navy Pier or Michigan Avenue (depending on option chosen) for your cruise departure. Board your riverboat and find a comfortable seat; a restroom is available on the boat.
Listen as your guide, an architecture expert, gives you an introduction to the city's landmarks. Along the scenic route, see buildings by world-famous architects including Mies van der Rohe, Helmut Jahn, and beyond. A boat on the river is the best vantage point to admire the distinct city skyline.
Pass by dozens of classic Chicago buildings, including the John Hancock Center, the Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower), the Wrigley Building, and more. Learn about how the invention of balloon-frame construction revolutionized how homes were built, and hear the dramatic story of Chicago's rise from the Great Fire of 1871. Both of these milestones led Chicago to become one of the cradles of modern American architecture.

Our tour guide, Sam, was incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. He was a Chicago native and practically a stand-up comedian. My friends and I were laughing the whole time and learned so much about the history of the Chicago River and its surrounding architecture. Totally recommend, shoutout to Sam!

Honestly, the guide was pretty annoying. The boat itself was great, the location was easy to find, and they cover the same area as other companies I’ve done this with before. However, the guide was absolutely obnoxious. I work in customer service and understand that they need to be entertaining and appeal to a wide variety of people, but this was ridiculous. I wasn’t looking to “learn” per se, but even if I was no actual info was covered. I was just happy to be cruising around with background noise, but it was singing and voices and reading multiple pieces of poetry and a harmonica. I can’t make it up. I’m sure he’s a lovely person, but I would recommend a different company. I was so embarrassed bringing extended family who are in town on it and wish I would’ve used someone else.

We had a great time on this cruise. Our tour guide Charlie was hilarious and extremely knowledgeable. Would definitely do it again!
Janet_J, Aug 2026
Informative and entertaining tour! Our schedule was crunched because of our flight but I’m glad we prioritized going. Sam S was great!
Cleo_S, Aug 2026
The staff was lovely and the drinks were done perfectly, please don’t change the drinks. I honestly would do this ride just for the drinks lol. Only thing I would change are kids being allowed ha ha there should be an adults only option bc I couldn’t hear a thing over the extremely loud field trip.

We learned so much from Dillon, our guide. He was entertaining and very knowledgeable. He knew all about the buildings and the history of Chicago. We highly recommend.
