Fioli Gardens - Chill Way to Spend the Morning

The weather was excellent the day we went, which made exploring the grounds that much better. I can understand why some people have memberships - there's just so much to look at and not enough time! The location was easy to get to, and parking was straight forward. Once we checked in, we easily spent 2 hours exploring the grounds (the giant troll is a bit of a walk to get to, but highly recommended), then an additional hour marveling at the house. Exploring is walk heavy, so if that's not a strong point for you, I wouldn't recommend it. But the grounds are stroller friendly, so bring your children and have a photoshoot!

We had a great time at Filoli, my mother got a little tired on the trail to see all six trolls and we were pleased to find several benches placed in the shade. Lunch at the cafe was a yummy way to end our tour.

The lack of signs made it extrtrolleremely difficult to find and stay on the correct trails. I had to back track many times. On one of the wrong trails a woman pushing her child in a stroller up a steep hill realized it had to be wrong and turned. Many people had the same had the experience. I was told they did not want to put signs out because it would detract from the beauty of nature. I walked over three miles because of back tracking. I am 84 years old and I was exhausted. The map did not help.

Wonderful gardens and plenty of trails to explore. Plan for at least 2-3 hours to take it in. Went around noon and was not busy.

Wonderful visit. Mansion and grounds/gardens are stunningly beautiful and meticulously cared for by a committed team. The gardens go on forever, and having the Garden Bar with "garden pops" was delightful. Only downside, the ballroom is closed for refurbished, which is fine but should be noted on website.
