Itineraries for Your Trip to Dallas
3 Days in Dallas for First Timers
I knew my history-loving kids would appreciate Dallas since the Texas city has so much of it. You could easily spend a whole day learning about John F. Kennedy's assassination. But the city's draw goes beyond history—don't leave Dallas without exploring the Deep Ellum neighborhood and its shops, restaurants, and colorful street art.
With three days in Dallas, you have plenty of time to visit nearby Fort Worth and try to catch the twice-daily cattle drive through the Stockyards National Historic District. Make sure you bring your Texas-sized appetite, as the varied and delicious cuisine you can find in Dallas has always amazed me.
If you only have time for one thing, make it the Deep Ellum neighborhood for a food crawl.
Summers in Dallas are hot and muggy, and winters are cold and windy.
There's a lot to see in the city, and covering it by bike means you can see more. Take a 2-hour e-bike tour of downtown Dallas and whisk from the quirky Deep Ellum neighborhood to the Dallas Arts District, where you'll find the world-class Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center.
Now that you're hungry, sample some of the best food Dallas has to offer. Head back to the Deep Ellum neighborhood to sample Texas chili, handmade biscuits, barbecue brisket, and more. Take in all the street art and fun vibes of this neighborhood as you experience Southern hospitality.
You can't come to Dallas without learning about John F. Kennedy's assassination, one of the most significant moments in the city's history. This tour will take you to the Sixth Floor and Oswald Rooming House Museums, where you can tour at your leisure. You can also visit the JFK Memorial and Dealey Plaza.
After you've taken in all that Dallas history, it's time for a little levity with some downtime at the bars. Turn a few drinks into a fun evening on a party bike pub crawl. Bring drinks to enjoy onboard as you pedal to three different bars. It's a lively way to end the day.
The historic town of Fort Worth is 30 minutes from Dallas, and it's a fun spot to spend the day. Tours from Dallas include transportation to stops like the Fort Worth Winter Gardens, the Fort Worth Stockyards, and the Cowtown Coliseum. Wear your cowboy hats (and boots).
Take in the city lights for your last night in Dallas with an evening visit to the Reunion Tower. You'll have access to the indoor and outdoor observation platforms where you can look through telescopes or view the impressive skyline from 470 feet (143 meters) up.
