The tours is primarily self guided on uneven ground. We came during the heat wave, so it was a little difficult, but thankfully, yhere was a shuttle to take to the wharf. The 4D movie is a must! Bobby, our driver, was very entertaining and funny. He made our trip therr and back very enjoyable.

Nice Tour

Robert was very friendly, interesting, and informative. What more could you ask for in a tour guide?! My only suggestion would be to change the time from 11-4 to 10-3, DC traffic at 4PM is not fun. As much as he tried to take us on an alternate less busy route, I think it still would be better if you left Mount Vernon earlier.

You need to be reasonably fit as there is quite a lot of walking involved. There is a shuttle service on site, but you need to be able to walk the exhibition garden, house etc. No lift in the house stairs to manage, maybe pack some snacks and water
