If you’re wanting to do...
If you’re wanting to do something a little different & understand the culture of the Saami people - this is one way to do it! We got an hour to hang out with the reindeer followed by a traditional Saami lunch (Reindeer stew) - we were then provided with an understanding on the Saami culture, how important the reindeer are, the traditional dress & even heard about the stories told throughout the generations (mainly revolving around monsters) 🤣 it was rather amusing! Thank you for having me, an experience I will always remember! And one I can happily tell me kids now, that I’m best friends with Santa & the reindeer, so they now must behave 🤪

Night under the Aurora
From pick up to drop off; the Wandering Owl team was amazing. The night was so well organised and our guide and driver were excellent. We made a couple of stops along the way to experience the beautiful Fiordland before making our final stop to set up camp. The thermal suits and boots were great and after our meal of soup, as we sat around the campfire, we were treated to an amazing Aurora display!!! As we were in our way home, Michael our driver stopped again when he noticed it had appeared again; it was even brighter and more beautiful then!! An amazing once in a lifetime experience for our family. Takk!!

Dancing Auroras
Well organised tour , with our very enthusiastic, kind and attentive guide Margo. Comfortable & warm mini bus, with night camera attached for aurora viewing. Travelled approx 1.5 hours to the centre of Ringvassoya Island, searching for a micro climate & the stars’, which we found , despite persistent rain in Tromso! After a barbecue of hot dogs and roasted marshmallow’s, plus plenty of hot coffee / chocolate, the stars appeared, followed in time by a beautiful dancing aurora show. A second beautiful aurora burst , this time on our way home on the eastern coast line of Kvaloya, Fantastic photos and great company, made for a really excellent evening ( out for 7 hours) and wonderful memories.

things_to_do

High on the northern coast of Norway, the city of Tromso is well-known among travelers as a place for Arctic adventures and lights in the sky. Tromso tours run the gamut of outdoor activities: Go for a cruise on a fjord, visit a reindeer farm, and (depending on the time of year) chase the northern lights with an expert guide. Be sure to book a tour that teaches about Sami culture, then get a hands-on lesson in the art of dog sledding and find out how these dogs have been trained for this specialized task for generations.
