Karl was an amazing guide and told us a lot about the history and culture of Norway as well as many aspects of life in Tromsø! And the addition of the Polar museum at the end was fantastic

It was such a nice and informative tour! Highly recommended to anyone visiting Tromso. The museum was good too.

Really enjoyed the experience. Had to ask a few people to see if we were in the correct building. Google maps placed us outside on a different corner.
Our guide Carl, was excellent. We met up and joined people already on the tour as there has been an admin mix up and two groups had started at different places.
Carl was very clearly spoken and very knowledgeable. Walked through the town, visited the library, fish tank in the restaurant and ended up at the Polar Museum. Carl guided us through the history in the museum. As we had joined the tour later, Carl continued with us and took us to the new part of town before heading back. We said goodbye to Carl at a local cafe and then made our way back.
Very friendly and informative guide, would certainly listen to Carl again should we visit Tromso again.

Our guide Vilma was friendly and informative. She's definitely a local as her love of Tromso shone through. We went to the polar museum which was interesting and walked down side streets in Tromso town. Vilma pointed out old houses and their histories, fun facts we wouldn't have found out by ourselves. Well worth it. Thanks Vilma

It is an enjoyable way to get a feel of Tromso. Karl is a very good guide and interacted with everyone on the tour. It's a mix of history and the current culture. A highlight for me is the Polar Museum.

Enjoyable tour round the city. Bernard was a very knowledgeable guide. We managed to keep up with his pace and we were a very small group

Wonderful and very informative walking tour. Full of historical facts but delivered in an interesting and fun way. Not dry and stuffy at all. Fully recommend (especially in a rainy day)!

This tour was entertaining, informative and a great introduction to Tromso. This was despite the constant rain which was unfortunate but didn't dampen the experience. Highly recommended

Karl was a great guide. We learned so much about Tromso and it's history. He had a wonderful sense of humor and made it very easy to ask our many questions

Great tour that was inexpensive! We had a small group of 7ish people so we were able to ask lots of questions. The Tour guide was very knowledgeable, talked about the history of Tromso, took us off the "tourist path" to show us what the residents of the town do, and even the different languages in Norway. The tour included admission to the must see Polar Museum! While there we were able to touch actual Polar Bears, walruses, and many more Norwegian taxidermies. Definitely a must see while in Tromso!

Excellent tour with knowledgeable guide. Arctic museum was interesting. Easy to find meeting point coming off a coastal cruise boat.

It’s well worth the money. A good choice when you have limited time. The guide was very knowledgeable about Tromsø

Very informative! Astrid was so knowledgeable about the history of Tromsø and current significant events. The tour of the Polar Museum was brilliant! Also lots of great suggestions for food and shopping. Highly recommend this tour.
Julia_B, Mar 2025
Very interesting tour, we saw things and learnt things about Norwegian culture as well as Tromso. Karl was very friendly.
Christiaan_v, Mar 2025
Excellent short duration activity. Wonderful guide. Only minor point were the large crowds inside the Polar Museum which made navigating difficult.
Electra_W, Mar 2025
A wonderful walk around Tromso. Our guide was a born and bred local - She was lovely! It was a very informative tour and we were given many tips that enhanced our stay in Tromso.
Ian_J, Feb 2025
Great value for money. Karl, our guide had lots of local knowledge and trivia to share and was happy to answer questions as we went along.
Tim_L, Jan 2025
Excellent guide who provided an interesting and informative commentary. She engaged well with the members of the small tour group which helped to make it an enjoyable activity.

Astrid was are tour guide There were only two of us on this tour , myself and a guy from Germany ( apparently we were lucky it wasn’t cancelled because there were only 2 of us. )
Astrid walked us around the centre of Tromso, pointing different things out to us and explaining the history of Tromso ( which she is very knowledgeable about )
We also got to try some smoked whale meat which was very nice !)
We ended up in the artic museum where astrid explained the history of artic exploration and the history of whale hunting
I found the museum to be very interesting with lots of photo opportunities
This tour is worth doing while in tromso

Bernard our guide was great. We learned so much. His delivery was lighthearted and engaging. His research and anecdotes went well beyond the standard skripted approach. Highly recommend rhis tour.
Boda_T, Aug 2024
The tour was good, if did its job of teaching us about the city, its history and the life around the North of Norway.
The meeting point could be better but we gave that feedback already.
Katherine_B, Apr 2024
Most of the time was spent in the Polar Museum. Not a typical walking tour of a city. The guide was friendly but think the tour should be marketed differently. A few reviews mentioned this but unfortunately I did not read them all prior to booking.
Steven_C, Mar 2024
Astrid lead our tour, and she is fantastic. She's a knowledgable guide who was born in the Arctic region, and has lived here most of her life. She really knows the area's history, loves to share it and is enthusiastic about the area. The three people in my party all thoroughly enjoyed our time learning about Tromsø, its people, and its history. Highly recommend this tour!
Jennifer_C, Mar 2024
This was not a historical city walk. This was a walk to the museum where we spent over an hour learning about Norways history of artic exploration. The viator description should include that. I would not have booked if it had. The guide was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of Nordic exploration. So if that's your thing, this tour is for you.
hennfj, Mar 2024
Lionel had an in-depth knowledge of everything and related all with humor.
His presentation was so interesting and engaging that we hoped he would be giving a tour the next day.
Audrey_B, Mar 2024
Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We loved the detailed history of Tromsø and the explanation of exhibits throughout the Polar Museum. Going to the Polar Museum (admission included with tour) was a nice surprise since I didn’t realize it was part of the tour.

We wanted to learn more about Tromso after the usual minibus tours chasing lights and reindeers etc….
We met our guide Astrid at the local indoor tourist centre in the bus station along with 3 other visitors, and her walking tour gave great insights into the history and culture of Tromso explaining about its local hero Roald Amundsen, first man to lead an expedition to reach the South Pole. We also got some recommendations on places to eat along the way (we tried them afterwards in the fish market cafe & small burger shop… delicious! )
This is a lovely relaxed stroll through the town, asking questions as we went along….. much better than just walking the town yourself and really not knowing what you are looking at.. well recommended.

Lionel was great! He had a vast knowledge of the history of Arctic and at the same time a great sense of humour.
Vic_B, Jan 2024
Guide was very knowledgable. Enjoyed the tour. Only negative was the guide leading us into a gift shop. I don't feel I should be led to a commercial entity when I'm paying for the tour.
