This was a wonderful, fun and exciting experience. We were thankful for the warm suits. Great guides who were very knowledgeable. This was once in a lifetime! The scenery and views were beautiful. It was fun to lead the husky’s, though confidence is needed! And thank up for allowing our 11 year old the chance to lead with one of your team. She is our animal lover and was so disappointed she couldn’t lead - until one of you supported her and taught her how to do this. Thank you for your kindness and expertise. You all clearly love these husky’s and they are very loved,

While in Finland and Norway, we enjoyed many arctic activities, but this was our favorite. We’re animal lovers and appreciate a thrill, and this offered both. The people were so kind and educated us on how to do the activity properly but also on how they (and more importantly, the pups!) prepare for it. Although it’s not ideal for children, we brought our 7-year-old and they made it safe and fun for all of us. There are lots of husky opps in the north, but this one appears to be one truly caring for the dogs. The dogs seem happy and are so eager to go for a fun run through the beautiful mountain side. I have no interest in a sport that gratifies me but at the same of the health and happiness of an animal, and these guys seem to do such an amazing job that both humans and pups are healthy and happy to be there.

This is an incredible experience and a true highlight of our trip to Norway. I was travelling with my husband and his family. My father in law is 77 and managed this no problem but he is very physically strong. The dogs are wonderful and the explanation and hospitality that was shown by our hosts was top notch. The scenery was beautiful and we just loved every moment of it.

This was a fantastic experience! Self driving the sleds was thrilling, and the dogs were obviously the highlight. You could see how much they were loved, and loved working. Playing with the huskies was the highlight of our stay for my daughter.

Our Tromsø Husky Self-Drive Sledding experience with Arctic Adventure Tours AS in Tromsø was absolutely incredible and one of the highlights of our trip to Norway.
From the moment we arrived, the team was professional, organized, and safety-focused. They gave careful attention to every participant, making sure we understood the journey and felt comfortable before heading out. We were also provided with warm clothing to change into, which ensured everyone stayed comfortable in the Arctic conditions.
The dog sledding adventure itself was exhilarating. The dogs are clearly very well cared for, energetic, and eager to run, which made the experience even more special. All of the sledding equipment was modern, well maintained, and easy to handle, helping everyone feel confident on the trail.
We brought a group of seven people, including a 78-year-old, and every single person said this was their absolute favorite activity of the entire trip.
After the ride, we loved spending time in the traditional Lavvu tent, warming up with delicious cake and hot beverages while enjoying the cozy atmosphere. The owner was also very informative and happy to answer questions, adding an educational element to the adventure.
If you’re visiting Tromsø and looking for a truly memorable Arctic experience, this is it. Highest recommendation for anyone in the area.

Really well organised, good fun, and they care a lot for the dogs. No problem with pickup and return.

Absolutely incredible experience! Dress warmly but not to worry if you forget anything, they have it available to borrow. I wish I could have taken a retired dog home with me. They clearly have wonderful lives and all of the people training them are so welcoming and helpful, answering all of your questions. I wish I could do this every day. The experience is one my husband and I will never forget.

This is a well organized outfitter. They picked us up ( a few minutes late) then took us to the compound about 40 minutes away. They have over 200 dogs, so they are well prepared to handle the groups. When you arrive, they will give you appropriate clothing, boots then a short explanation on how to drive the dogs. It's absolutely amazing. The dogs are extremely well trained. The drive is beautiful. They stop a few times so you can alternate between driver and passenger. After you can play with the dogs, who are extremely well trained. Then into a latvuu for hot chocolate and cakes. Awesome!

What an exciting experience! We were picked up on time in a very nice van. The operators were knowledgeable & spoke beautiful English. They gave very thorough instructions on how to operate the sled. We went through some of the most picturesque landscapes we’ve ever seen. It was far beyond our expectations. Highly recommend this tour! You’ll have wonderful memories & pictures to look back on.

One of the best things I've even done! Absolutely wonderful experience. The dogs are so happy and enthusiastic, and it is the most magical way to witness the Arctic landscape. You need some level of fitness to keep up, so this is worth bearing in mind but the guides are very helpful and the dogs are wonderful.

Excellent experience. A true dog sledding adventure. Our team of dogs really wanted to run and I had to use the brake a lot. Highly recommend this time with the animals. They are so wonderful.

Whoever drives needs to really strong and in good shape. It takes a lot of strength to slow the dogs down.
Diana_C, Feb 2026
As the other reviews say, it was a wonderful and fun experience. It was well organized and well attended to. The dogs are well taken care of and very happy. We had chocolate cake with hot chocolate after which was delicious. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience driving your own sled of huskies! Husband and I were allowed to switch often, as it is quite physical! Scenery was amazing, even snowed on our ride! Lifetime experience come true- highly recommend. They supply boots and Arctic gear- comfortable cab pick up as well
Megan_M, Feb 2026
What a phenomenal experience. All the employees were so friendly, the dogs are beautiful and so much fun to drive your own sled! Great hot chocolate too!
Emmanuelle_C, Feb 2026
Lovely setting about 35 minutes from Tromso, very warm suits and boots, and enjoyable ride in a beautiful setting. There was about 16 of us, but the group was split so we had 3 sleds following the guide which was nice and made the ride smoother. It was a bit slow though, they warned us on how fast the dogs wanted to go but the guide was keeping the ride quite slow. Very enjoyable none the less. Plenty of cake later in the lavvu and a chance to ask Plenty of questions about the dogs.

This tour was fantastic from start to finish. Pick up arrived at approximately 8.45 and left at 9 prompt. The driver was friendly and welcoming. On arrival you are given a thermal snow suit and boots. The huskies were absolutely gorgeous and super friendly. You can tell how loved they are by all the staff. The dog sledding was just magical. The trail is approximately 12km. My sister and I took it in turns to drive. The scenery was breathtaking and the huskies were incredible. Once finished you are welcomed with a delicious hot chocolate and slice of cake. The staff also tell you all about the huskies and invite questions after. An experience we'll never forget.

it was an unique experience!
We’ve enjoyed every moment!
All was really professional taking care and the staff were friendly and we felt welcome. it was really excited to see the dogs, and
be there such as nice experience.

This is a beautiful experience with dogs that are so happy. My daughters are animal lovers and they were skeptical about the happiness of the dogs until they saw them. They both agreed that these dogs were well taken care of and extremely happy to pull the sleighs. The staff was kind and knowledgeable.

We got super lucky! It was a sunny day with fresh powder from the night before. A few Alaskan Huskies were slightly scared of people while most were happy, barking. howling and rearing to go. Once they get going, they want to run all out and you have to slow them down and sometimes help them up small hills. Our lead dog was somewhat judgemental, looking back as if he was wondering why I wasn't helping him up the hill or why we were slowing down. Back at camp, we got some cake and hot chocolate, while the dogs were resting, wanting pets, hugs and belly rubs. A most memorable trip!

Great day out. Very well organised and good instructions. Lovely dogs and well looked after. So much fun

We booked the 9am slot, arrive early! our uber was running late, we arrived at 9.03 and bus was just pulling away thankfully after a dash we caught it just in time. The location is a short journey from pick up. Nice comfortable transport. Upon arrival we had the option of thermal suits & boots, regardless of how wrapped up you are, put on the additional layers you will thank yourself later! Esp if playing and greeting the dogs some like to jump up for cuddles. After we got into our additional layers we were able to go outside to see all 130 dogs, it was great to interact with them at your own pace / leisure all very friendly, lovely dogs, afterwards is a short demo of how to ride the sledge & safety precautions when braking etc, it was fairly straightforward to pick up. We were then taken round to our sleds and dogs to set off, the journey was great, sufficient time to take in the landscape and enjoy the activity, guide stopped to allow for groups to changeover (ie who sits on sled & who wishes to drive) guide also paused to take a few photos of each individual couple. It was an easy going thoroughly enjoyable ride. Upon return we were welcomed into a large cosy teepee for hot drinks and cake, again which we thoroughly enjoyed, the owner brought in one of the dogs and answered questions for the group, overwell it was a very wholesome experience which I would definetly do again & highly recommend! Thanks again for making our tromso trip even more magical and unforgettable.
