It was a great tour! The driver and the staff at the location were very hospitable and attentive. We enjoyed staying on authentic Sami hut on top of feeding the deer and riding a deer sled. Having the bonfires around the camp was a great bonus and added to the authentic atmosphere of the Sami camp.

A seamless experience from start to end. The reindeer sledding and overnight stay was, without knowing exactly what I was in for, a perfect combination of a activities - informative: learning about Sami culture and their ways of living by Sami people, and being shown techniques on using the lasso to catch reindeer; homely: a cosy tent equipped with hot drinks, snacks, fire and comforts of the reindeer skin, along with the delicious reindeer stew served for dinner and amazing morning breakfast; safe: clear instructions from the staff, especially about safety around the reindeer. The sledding was great, it feels like a wild rollercoaster. You just go around a small loop in 20 minutes or so, but the reindeer still picked up some speed with gentle curves and inclines, it was still exciting. We were also lucky enough to witness the aurora on a clear night.

We had a blast with the overnight experience and breakfast was wonderful! It was great learning about the Sami and their love and respect of reindeer.

We are very happy to ear that you had a great time with us! Thank you for your review

We were well taken care of throughout our overnight stay. We were given adequate firewood and extra clothing to keep ourselves warm. They were also very understanding of all the attendees who wanted to take pictures of the northern lights; you require a bit of luck to see them, but you should have ample time to take your dream photos. Great experience overall!

Amazing experience. We did the Reindeer Sledding, Feeding and overnight stay. We really enjoyed the ride, and the feeding. It was interesting to learn more about Sami culture and eat Sami food. The Sami food was simple and really tasty - with an option of Reindeer or Vegetarian stew and fresh bread. Our party had both and all agreed that they were really nice. There were also biscuits, hot chocolate and more. The evening was topped off by an aurora. We stayed overnight at the camp in a 4 person tent which is limited to 16 people. The staff couldn’t have been more fabulous making sure we had what we needed and being clear that we had access to the cold weather gear, and outdoor fire and an indoor fire beyond our tents if we wanted to. As a result we got to sit outside by the fire chatting (roasting the marshmallows we had brought) and saw another aurora whist appreciating the silence. In the morning we were able to go back in among the Reindeer, but had access to the whole camp and a great breakfast with cereal, eggs bacon and cold meat, cheese and fruit. The team were all extremely friendly and couldn’t have worked harder to make sure we had what we needed.

10/10 experience! The sledding was magical and John was a great guide. Super fun and would recommend to anyone going to tromso!

This group is lovely. We very much enjoyed the reindeer experience, the bus transfers were very easy. The big question - overnight was nice in a lot of ways. Our night was not the best weather for this. When you stay over night, you can go sit by the bonfire or walk around however for us there was fairly extreme wind (30+m/s gusts=about 70mph!!!). One thing I've learned in tromso is that almost nothing stops for the weather. I can report that the lavvus sustained the wind and constant rain/snow mix that fell. But hard to sleep wondering if it would stay down! Breakfast in the morning was very nice, similar to most hotels. Dinner was with the tour, it was a bowl of soup and cookies (which are good but very simple), the breakfast surprised me! The bus transfer returning is fairly late, around 11am. Great driver even in crazy weather. In all, memorable experience, a very personal experience and a highlight of the trip for sure. And you really just can't control the weather!
Response from Host, Dec 2024
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the reindeer experience and found the bus transfers easy. We understand that the weather can sometimes be unpredictable, and we’re glad to hear the lavvos held up well despite the extreme conditions. It's great to know that the breakfast surprised you and that you had a memorable and personal experience, even with the challenging weather. We truly appreciate your understanding and kind words about our driver and the overall experience. We hope to welcome you again for another adventure, hopefully with better weather next time!

Well, we did the overnight stay. Reindeer sledding was canceled and we were refunded a very small portion of the cost. However…. The next morning however…. THE BUS FORGOT TO PICK US UP AS STATED IN THE ITINERARY. We ended up getting to hotel after NOON and were charged for overstaying (check out is Noon. I asked for a refund (same amount as the hotel charged me (about $20) and was DENIED

One of those memorable bucket list comes true moment 👍 Did this with my teens and we all had a great fun.

All the staffs (only know Neil and Beli’s names. Sorry) were so kind, friendly, and hospitable. We’re blessed by the unexpected chance to spot the Aurora Borealis despite of all the 0,3-1% possibility. It was a memorable experience for our family. Thank you.
VijayDeep_B, Jan 2024
Fantastic place to experience and learn about the brave humble and joyful Sami folks. We stayed in overnight tent, outside was -25 degree Celcius, but thanks to wood stove, inside it was very cozy. The host asked us several times if all was okay and showed great care.
We saw night light directly from inside the tent windows.
Feeding the reindeer was another major experience. It's one thing to look at them for 5 minutes and another experience to wake up and watch them as first thing in morning.
The host especially Nils is a great guy with fantastic sense of humor, and hospitality. If there is anything they can do for you, they will do. If you want you can also buy souvenir from them I hope it helps the Sami craftsmen/women, and not produced elsewhere.
Please read up a bit about Sami culture way of life and be amazed to learn more on your visit.
rest assured you will experience the nature as it is. Respect and appreciation for having us.

Amazing time on this excursion — fun, educational and seeing the reindeer in action was fantastic. Highly recommended ! We did see the Northern Lights (not a given) and they were spectacular!
ann_l, Nov 2023
Overall the experience was nice. The staff was really nice, but there is some things to improve and you should know. Very authentic experience, no frills, so the price was a little high. Note there will be no running water and you have to keep the tent warm yourself by putting fire logs in every 2/3 hours and the sleeping bags didn’t zip up, which is part of the experience. The reindeer sledding and feeding was fun! Things to improve: the dinner was just soup and bread so don’t come too hungry, and communication was lacking regarding morning pick up. We were told we would be picked up by 10am back to Tromso by 11am, but we were rushed out at 9am not leaving time for breakfast since we got up at 830am. The breakfast was great, so wake up early for it in case they rush you out. Also, the pictures of individual beds are false, our group of 4 was given a tent with 2 beds and 4 sleeping bags. You can BYO sleeping bag , warm clothing for sleeping, snacks, & charger. You can also just do the sledding/feeding and not stay the night, or book with a different company that’s cheaper.
Brenda_M, Mar 2023
This was a really unique experience to learn more about the Sami culture. Also the lavuu was a lot more warm and comfortable then you might think if that’s a concern. It should be noted that the bathroom is an outhouse.

The overnight stay was a once in a lifetime experience for us. Feeding the reindeer was a great way to get close up with the animals. The tour host gave an interactive presentation on the life of the Sami and reindeer. When booking we were worried about being warm enough in the tent but the little wood fire was able to make the tent very hot! We too it in turns to stoke the fire throughout the night, it needed a top up about every 3 hours. In the we finally had some clear skies and the sunrise in the valley was amazing!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
We are truly happy to hear you had a nice time with us!
Fabio_P, Feb 2023
The overall experience is nice.
It is overpriced though. The service you get and the money spent don’t match. The dinner is a very nice experience but it’s not much food.
Due to weather we didn’t get to do the reindeer sledding, which is totally understandable. But the partial refund was only 30$, which is less than a third of what they actually ask to pay.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Dear Fabio,
Thank you for your review! We are sorry to hear that you did not have a 5 stars experience. We will let our team know about your feedback on the food served :)
As per the amount of your refund:
This is 30 minutes of a much longer tour, if you check the price difference between a Reindeer Sledding trip and a Reindeer feeding, the difference is about what you received. Considering the Viator fees and the currency exchange, the amount might seem smaller.
But that is what we charge for having a sled ride :)
John_P, Feb 2023
Amazing time. The guides were great and the weather was perfect (though so cold in early feb -12C). The guided and staff were lovely. Perfect trip, memories to last a lifetime. Keep the fire topped up if you camp overnight!
Carolina_C, Jan 2023
Amazing! Great experience and we were lucky with amazing northern lights to make the trip even better!

I can't recommend this trip enough! It was all simply perfect :-)
The "check-in" fast and in time, the bus was comfortable and the driver a nice guy. The approx. 45min drive to the camp on Lyngen was scenic and we even saw the Aurora from the bus. Nice!
The camp is set in most beautiful nature with fjord and mountain view, the few Lavus idyllicly and lit with small torches to guide the way. Looks very nice.
Reindeer feeding was fun, as always. You get a buket full of food and feed them by hand. They're so cute!
The 30mins. sleigh ride after was stunning: so peaceful, just watching the reindeers and the clear starry sky, enjoying the quiet and the nature around.
I've stayed overnight in a Lavu tent which was the best decision ever! The tent was so nicely decoarated with fairy lights and lots of reindeer skins, there was hot chocolate to keep you warm and a small oven - which you had to take care of yourself by feeding it with wood every 30mins or so. Yes, not too much sleep ;-) but the sleep i had was wonderful! It was so cosy and warm in in the provided sleeping bag.
And on top of that all, we' ve been very lucky and experienced the most wonderful Aurora Borealis ♡. A 2.5hours stunning nature-wonder-show! It was breathtaking!
All in all, just the perfect experience: Trip, Team, Sami history, delicious dinner and breakfast, cosy Lavus and cuddly reindeer.
Book it and enjoy! :-) Thank you TromsøLappland!

The entire experience was very special and handled with warmth and ease. Feeding the reindeer was loads of fun and then into the warmth and a delicious meal. TIna educated us about her lived Sami heritage. Great respect for this feisty farmer! The thought of working in temperatures of -40degrees brings a whole new level of respect. Sleeping in the lavvo decorated with fairy lights on reindeer skin and a very warm sleeping bag, snow falling outside and the intermittent tinkling of the reindeers bells made for a very special magical experience. Highly recommended.
Abbey_D, Dec 2022
The reindeer feeding was incredible, the tent was wonderfully cozy and our Sami hosts shared openly in ways that were not only educational, but at times, very moving. Can’t recommend enough!
YOLANDA_C, Nov 2022
This is a worthy experience! Feeding reindeers and spending the night with such beautiful landscape under the norther lights is priceless!
Megan_G, Nov 2022
I booked about 2 weeks prior to the tour. I was in communication with the team prior and they were quick to respond and very helpful. HOWEVER, 2 days prior to my stay they advise due to that date’s popularity,I will have to share a lavvu with someone else. Nowhere on the site does it mention solo travellers having to share so it was a bit of a disappointment (at this point I was excited for the tour and it was too late to make other arrangements)I was determined to make the best of my time and unfortunate situation. They did not offer any partial refund due to the inconvenience of having this surprised on me 2 days before I was scheduled to arrived even though they had been in communication with me prior. When checking in they advised there won’t be any reindeer sled rides due to the lack of snow which is disappointing but understandable due to no snow. they did refund $30 for the sled ride which was appreciated.
The overall experience was nice from feeding the reindeer their dinner and having traditional sami dinner ourselves it was a great night watching the northern lights and trying to survive the cold. The accommodations were comfortable and you just need to make sure the fire in your tent does not go out! Overall I wouldn’t recommend this to a solo traveler but if you’re a couple or a group it would be perfect.

We went for the Lavvu tour to have a great night. The short trip with the Raindeers sledding was super cool, and we did under the Northern Lights! The lights were beautiful, crossing the sky from North to South, in two beautiful curved stripes.
After the sledding, we fed the raindeers, and that was much nicer than I would expect. And right after that, a dream I had since I was a kid came true. We were looking to the sky, contemplating the northern lights, and then they were getting stronger and stronger. They got thick and the green strips became strong white masses dancing in the sky. That was the first time I saw what the northern lights really are. It was so beautiful!
We were there just watching the lights for the next minutes until they got a bit weaker, and then we went to have a great time with a Sami explaining to us about their culture, and we had a great meal together!
After that, we went to our Lavvu, which was super cozy! It was a great night! But don't expect to have your best night of sleep, given that it gets cold kinda fast and we have to feed the fire ourselves every 1 or 2 hours.
I strongly recommend the tour!
Response from Host, Jan 2022
Thank you so much for your kind feedback. We are so glad you are happy with your stay here in the cold north. Having the opportunity to get so close to the reindeer during feeding is fun, and a night in the Lavvu gives you an impression of what it takes to survive in the north. After around three days the body begins to adapt the temperatures, and then you also will sleep better. But we try to make it as comfy and warm as possible for our dear guests. I am so glad your dream came true, and that you finally got to see a dancing northern lights.
Hope to see you again on your next stay in Tromso.
Kind regards
Ingvild

Last night I had the best experience of my life. A dream come true. Everything it promised to be. And the hosts are wonderful. Great energy. There were 11 of us sledding with the reindeer and eating listening to sammi history/culture and then I was the only person who stayed on in the tipi for the night! Which was also amazing to experience the solitude. Just me, the campfire, the reindeer and Aurora. Paradise!
Response from Host, Dec 2021
Hi!
Thank you so much for your review! We are excited to hear that you had a pleasant stay with us, and thank you for coming to see our little piece of paradise in the North ☺️

Fantastic experience. Spent time with the reindeers being taken round on a sled and then feeding them. Learnt about the Sami culture and had a lovely meal. The best of all was the overnight stay in the tent. Tent was cosy with a wood burner which kept me warm all night. Didn't see the lights but enjoyed the experience and the place anyway. Beautiful views of the mountains. Our hosts were so nice and friendly and there was lots of food on offer.

Loved this trip ! Tents were warm and cozy . Loved learning about Sami culture and feeding reindeer and going sledding . We didn’t see the Northern lights but it was well worth it anyway . Made new friends that we shared a lavvu with . We enjoyed the camp even more when the day visitors left . It was very peaceful. We are vegan and the food was a little sparse (veg soup and bread ) and fruit, jam and bread for breakfast . Suggest adding nut butter or bring snacks .
Response from Host, Sep 2020
