This was an amazing hike! Absolutely beautiful views and we had the best time sliding down the hills. They provided a delicious Vegan/vegetarian lunch and warm drinks. The guides Nicolas and Jens were very helpful and personable. They made sure everyone was comfortable. Highly recommend this tour!

Amazing guides and experience overall. If the weather isn’t great in one place, they actively seek another location days before to give you the best experience. Ellie made it great fun (I was in her group out of the two guides we had) and really easy to have a conversation with during the walk. Amazing views and tasty lunch, would definitely recommend!!

The place where you will be staying at (Hotel, Air BnB or other)

Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately. Make sure you wear warm and water resistant clothes and have an extra layer with you and shoes/boots that are suitable for hiking
It is recommended that you bring a bottle of water with you (0,5 liters shoud be enough)

Please be prepared for limited toilet facilities, there will be a gas station stop during the drive, however the camp itself is in the wild Arctic nature where the only toilet possibilities are in the forest (there are no pre-built facilities)
Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if less than 2 passengers per tours. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
Please arrive 15 minutes early, the guide must depart at 10am.
If there is no snow, or not much snow, we'll hike instead of snowshoe.

Snowshoeing in Norway

A great artic hike!

Had to take off a star because I emailed beforehand to ask if I should wear snow pants. They said they don't recommend it because it is too restrictive for the hike. We arrive at the pick up point and all 4 guides have snow pants on...and we proceed to sit in the snow to eat and sled (so fun!) so not sure why they didn't just say yes when I asked. Moral of the story: wear light snow pants. Other than that we had a great time. Nicholas was a great guide. He gave us all space to go at our own pace without letting anyone fall behind or get bored from going too slow. He knew his way around the mountain like the pro he is. It was super windy and cold so I wouldn't have wanted to be out there with anyone less knowledgeable. Definitely an artic hike! A quick back and forth car ride from Tromso. Request winter boots ahead of time if you need them as they assume you are bringing proper shoes/boots for the snowshoes they are attaching.

It was a great experience. Amazing views with a yummy lunch/drinks. The pace at times was a bit too fast for me and a couple of others in the group which took a slight bit of enjoyment from the day, but still overall glad I did this tour.

It was well worth the money.The guides Magda and Ellie were amazing.They were so enthusiastic as well as knowledgeable and we learnt so much.As a novice it was a great initiation.The views were spectacular and it was so well led and the lunch was lovely..We also got to meet some reindeer.

Stunning views, overall amazing experience

Right from the beginning Wandering Owl tours have stood out with their focus of sustainability. From the minute Gerard and Anna picked us up they made sure we were given as much income as possible. We had 2 guides with us and so allowed us to split into smaller groups giving us the option to explore different areas. Gerard was very knowledge and adjusted the routes to suit our group and what we wanted from the tour. We maintained a great pace that was good for all with plenty of breaks. We were able to stop at the top of the mountain for some lunch while enjoying the stunning views.

Weather initially wasn't great which resulted in the operator arriving late and then offering us the opportunity to cancel or change tours. Glad I didn't as Gerard adjusted the tour really well and was a good guide. Snowshoed through beautiful countryside, not a challenging hike. Photos were taken and small snack provided. Really enjoyed it.

Awesome. Beautiful drive out to country. Unique because of gentle snow that limited some views but made for a mystical experience. Peaceful. Spotted reindeer and a moose. A great hike that I would definitely recommend and would definitely do again.

What can I say 🤩 this experience is a must, from start to finish our guide Issac was amazing !!! He was patient , fun and extremely knowledgable 🤩 We enjoyed lunch at the top, and the Sandwich was wrapped in cloth as to not use unnecessary plastic ( we loved that ) their ethos towards eco friendliness is 2nd to none . We also had the most amazing Chia Tea . Coffee and hot juice which was locally produced 😍 we loved it and is a definite 11/10 🤩 thanks Isaac & co for giving us an experience of a life time Nic & Chris #onethermosatatime

I was initially skeptical about snow shoeing, but it turned out to be a good experience hiking the snow mountains. It gets cold and windy so definitely dress up in layers. Anna, our group lead tour operator is a wonderful person explaining the terrains and she was taking photos so that we don’t miss out on the good ones. Also, Pl keep the tissue handy for the runny nose ;). Overall it was around a 2 hr trail and winds made it a lil bit challenging but that’s what a hike is for. Throughly enjoyed the hike felt like an accomplishment :) A must do for an adventure seeker!

Snowshoeing was really great even though it was more tiring than expected. Isaac & Marcin were amazing and were super patient with how many photos I wanted. We moved at a good pace and were able to get to a great vantage point. The food was tasty as well. Definitely worth trying at least once!

Scenery beautiful, guide unprepared

Lovely day out beautiful scenery. Guide did not do a lot of guiding. There was no backup equipment so some people didn't have shoes or poles that worked which at this price point is wild. There were a lot of "screw you" breaks for the slowest hikers. Guide elected not to pack water saying the thermos was heavy. Asked everyone if they had water. They said yes but also half of the people didn't have backpacks? So I doubt it. Also the girl in the back fell down three times. Guide did not notice because she was already 100 m ahead. I turned around and helped her up. Guide was very personable. Just not that safe.

We understand that there was a situation with some of the equipment. Our gear is being checked regularly, and we will follow up to ensure this is addressed. We make several short breaks along the hike and we always encourage our guests to communicate with our guides if they feel they need additional rest. Our guides are experienced in accommodating guests of different fitness levels and strive to maintain a pace that balances the needs of the group while ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone. We also allow some distance between guests so that no one feels rushed to walk faster. We will remind our guides to communicate this more clearly to future guests. Our guides always bring a thermos with water to refill guests' bottles when needed. The booking page states that bringing a personal water bottle is recommended. Since all guests confirmed they had water, the guide made the decision not to carry the thermos to reduce weight. Thank you again for your feedback and we wish you safe onward travels!
