Our chase the lights tour was even more beautiful than we could have imagined. From the beginning of our tour we knew we were going to have a great night as our tour guide Miguel and driver Adam were full of information and enthusiasm, and promised to use their expertise to maximise our chances of seeing the Northern Lights while also explaining that it wasn’t in their control as the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon. We were blessed to have a small show initially which we were so pleased to see but a short time later we had a spectacular show with green, pink and purple lights dancing across the sky and they then lasted another few hours. The warm suits and boots that were included in the tour were amazing and kept us dry and warm all night Adam prepared an area to sit and watch the lights, making seats out of snow around a cozy fire and covering them with reindeer pelts so we were warm and comfortable. The included meals were delicious and so lovely to eat them around the fire while chatting to our fellow tourists. The toasted marshmallows were also delicious. Miguel had created a trivia game about facts around the Aurora Borealis, which added more fun to the night. We would highly recommend this tour as we loved it.

Petra our guide was excellent, she looked after us very well she made sure we were all safe and comfortable on the snow. She was very knowledgeable about the northern lights and explained everything very well. We gad a fantastic light display and Petra captured it all in lovely photos for us, she has very good photography skills. Petra was very thoughtful and bought birthday cake and candles to celebrate the birthdays. This was a magical tour, well organised, the suits and boots were good and petrz the tour guide excellent. Also a shout out to our driver Nicholas. who was very patient stopping for us on the way back to see some dancing lights and waiting for us even though it was very late.

Well worth the money for the experience

Need to be patient when you are hunting for the northern lights. Listen to your guide vs the apps. The apps were wrong compared to what we saw

It was really nice, the tour guide made everything that we see the polar lights. She also made super photos that we can after without problems download. In the snow, with the food, the hot chocolate and the fire was a really nice outdoor experience.

Spectacular Experience!

Our guide Demeter was amazingly knowledgeable, helpful and kind. You are going to be climbing in the snow so bring poles for balance. Get ready for an experience of a lifetime!

Out of the World Northern Lights Chase Tour

Wow! A fantastic tour from start to finish with Arctic Explorers. Our guide (Dimitar) met us at our pick up point and went back to HQ to get our thermal snowsuits and boots. We boarded our small mini-bus and had an amazing Northern Lights chase. Dimitar was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what to look for. We were treated to some spectacular displays. Half way through the tour we had a lovely campfire, food and toasted marshmallows. On the way back to Tromso, Dimitar spotted an incredible aurora. It was other worldly and felt very ethereal with a beautiful clear sky and lots of stars. The tour was long and we didn't get back to our hotel until 1.30am but the enthusiasm from our guide to ensure we saw the displays we saw was second to none. I would 100% recommend this tour. Thank you, Dimitar and for the amazing photos you captured of my sister and I.

We were provided with body suits and heavy boots which were invaluable as you will be out in the cold for hours. The tour guide was fantastic as was the entire experience

Excellent Aurora night

VickiAnn_L, Jan 2026
Highly recommend booking this experience to see the Northern Lights. Petra was the guide for the night and she was just amazing. Whilst there is no guarantee to see the Northern Lights the team go all the way to maximise your chances throughout the night and I couldn't be happier because the sky put on an amazing show. We set up on the beach with a fire and food and just watched the aurora dance. Petra was truly lovely and took professional photos which captured it all. Highly recommend this tour.

Conditional Circumstance's

Neal_W, Dec 2025
These out door experience's are at times built on past, our guide was great but, poor communications, on where to actually meet, kept looking for the person in charge, never found them till I hunted down the driver of the vehicle that drove us there taking 25 min. extra time. When we reached the spot we unloaded and waited several hours till something appeared but only through a camera, not at all what I expected from the advertisement shown or pictures presented BUT once again not completely there fault this is weather at its best, you just never know when or where.

Great!

PeiLuan_S, Nov 2025
We will well taken care of right from the start. Instructions given via Viator platform was clear and helpful. The clothings lent to us were very sufficient and had many sizes to choose from. Our guides Georgie, Alberto and Dimitri were awesome. Very friendly, casual and obviously very well informed and knowledgeable about all things Aurora. The campfire, food and photograph were tip of the iceberg. Thankful to be able to catch this natural phenomenon. Looking forward to receiving the rest of the photos from the trip.

Loved this experience so much

We were collected from the pick up spot and walked 2 mins to go and get our suits and boots. 100% recommend wearing them. We then drove to just by Sommarøy and sat on the beach in the deep snow and our guide Magdalena and our driver who's name has escaped me made up a fire where we had hot chocs and learned about the northern lights. The snow was coming down heavily and we thought, lets make the most of this if we don't see them here, we will be moving to Finland. Then magically the sky cleared and we had our first glimpse of the northern lights. The clouds came back and we had some food, marshmallows and a second round of hot choc around the fire. Then the northern lights came out to play again and just got better and better through the night. Magdalena took amazing photos and we all had a great time in the snow too! Towards the end of the evening we all lay in the snow just watching the lights. Perfect evening !

Our guide Petra was amazing. She was determined to find us a break in the clouds, persevering long after we had given up. We did get a small glimpse of the lights, but mother nature was not on our side. But the hot chocolate was excellent and the expedition meal surprisingly good.

Incredible lights and memories

Adam_S, Nov 2025
We had the best time on our northern lights excursion with Magdalena! Her passion, open sport, and knowledge of the lights and local culture and transitions was so clear. She was fun, optimistic, and so determined - and even with the snowy forecast, she spent time monitoring conditions for breaks in the clouds to see the lights. And we did! We also so enjoyed speaking with Magadalena and our fellow travelers around the campfire with food and drink. The photos are fantastic. Adam was our driver and I felt very safe and comfortable in the minibus, even in the snow. I also want to give a shoutout to Petra - without her we almost missed the trip due to Viator customer service providing us with conflicting pick up information. Despite the mix up, Petra went above and beyond to call and text me so we wouldn’t miss the group at the correct pick up spot. Can’t recommend this enough! Their team is so clearly devoted to outstanding customer service.

Tiny, freezing van

aida_r, Nov 2025
The experience was disappointing from the very beginning. The company sends you a bunch of supposedly funny emails telling you not to call them, not to write to them, that they will find you.The guide arrived 5 minutes late, when in this kind of tour it’s normal to be there 10 or even 15 minutes before the activity starts. The worst part is that the van is old, the seats are small, and it was extremely cold inside. You have to do the whole trip wearing the thermal suits, which is very uncomfortable in that old, tiny van. The guide Petra did everything she could to find the Northern Lights on a cloudy night, but the places where we stopped felt unsafe. Twice we stopped on the side of the road with cars passing by at high speed, and a third time on a quieter road, where we stayed longer next to a river that we couldn’t see — we could only hear it — and it felt like there was a drop or ravine. Since we’re in complete darkness to be able to see the auroras, I found that dangerous. After about 5 hours, we were freezing and just wanted to go back to the hotel, but the guide made a fire and prepared a “dinner” that we really didn’t want at that point. We returned in the minivan completely cold and just wanting to get back. It’s true that Petra did everything she could to take good photos of everyone in the group, but I think what they really need to do is invest in a van with proper seats, turn the heating up, and forget about the campfire part.

Lights and stories!

Aimiee_M, Nov 2025
Excellent excursion with very knowledgeable guides who were excited about the lights too. The lights were already on display before we even left Tromsø, so out main task was finding a good stopping area. We travelled about 1.5 away from the city, stopping at 1 location within 20 minutes or so as activity kicked up a notch, getting photos, before moving on. We stopped at another area briefly and then made our way to our final stop where the sky exploded. Obviously this cannot be predicted but our guides knew the best locations and were keeping track of the activity. After lots.of photos, a campfire was set up and we had food and hot chocolates, as well as marshmallows to toast. The sky dancing the whole time. We got to hear about local sami culture and beliefs and our guides Nelson and Magdelena were clearly very passionate about what they do. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I was very impressed by how organised the trip was. The difference between this and one I've been on previously is you go to their office first to try on thermal suits and boots so you're not attempting to change in freezing temperatures. Definitely recommend.

Nelson and Magdalena were very wonderful and knowledgeable guides. We were very lucky and saw auroras immediately! There was a campfire with delicious stews for dinner and hot chocolate and marshmallows for desert.

We had been out on a full bus tour earlier in the week but this mini bus tour was much better. There were more options on where to go as parking was easier. There were also less people in the viewing area mulling about and using their phone flashlights. Our guide Lucie was very helpful. She went around assuring everybody was comfortable and had what they needed. She also took great pictures. The night sky was great and after some patience the Aurora appeared very bright overhead. The one area for improvement would be to stagger people in the staging area. We had two groups going out at the same time and it it was crowded and took extra time to stage.

What An Amazing Adventure!

Lucas_P, Oct 2025
This was an absolutely amazing tour! The guides were wonderful-friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. They built a fire at the chosen destination for the evening, and provided us with a delicious hot meal. We had to do some driving to get there, but boy was it worth it for the once in a lifetime show Mother Nature put on for us! 100% recommend this tour, and will definitely do it again if we ever make it back to Tromsø!
