What are people saying about Pompeii

Take the private tour. Daniela is the reason.
We had two hours in Pompeii and I've thought about them every day since. This was not a guide reciting dates to a crowd. It was a walking history class taught by someone with a real scholar's command of the material, delivered the way National Geographic delivers it, where you don't notice you're being taught because you're too busy leaning in. Daniela reads Pompeii the way a great field naturalist reads a forest. Nothing is background. A rut in the stone, a doorway, a scorch line, and suddenly you're standing in someone's actual afternoon in the year 79. She knew which stones were worth stopping at and which questions were worth chasing, and she paced two hours so that we came away having seen a city rather than a checklist of ruins. I'm forty years into a career where I have sat through more presentations than I can count. Very few people are genuinely excellent at their craft. Daniela is. If you're weighing the group tour against the private one, stop weighing. Book her.

Great tour with Clelia
Great tour, perfect for families with kids. Our tour guide Clelia was amazing and she really brought the experience to life for our kids and group. The area is so large that having a tour guide really elevates the experience and helps you make the most of your time in Pompeii.

An Amazing Day at Herculaneum, Pompeii & Mt. Vesuvius with Antonio!
An Amazing Day at Herculaneum, Pompeii & Mt. Vesuvius with Antonio! From the moment he picked us up at our hotel, he began weaving fascinating stories about the area and Mt. Vesuvius. Our entire family was mesmerized before we even arrived at our first stop. We started at Herculaneum, which was incredible and probably my favorite part of the entire trip. The preservation is remarkable, and seeing the artifacts, jewelry, furniture, and everyday items was fascinating, so many things looked surprisingly modern. Next was Pompeii, which was equally awe-inspiring. It is enormous and was very crowded, but Antonio was fantastic at navigating us away from the crowds while making sure we saw all the highlights. We ended the day by climbing Mt. Vesuvius, which was challenging but so much fun and the perfect way to finish the experience. I highly recommend this tour. My husband and our three sons, ages 22, 20, and 16, all loved it. Antonio made the history come alive and turned an already incredible itinerary into one of the most memorable days of our trip to Italy!

Through an expert’s eyes
We booked a private tour of Pompeii with Elizabeth, an archaeologist, and it completely changed our experience. Walking in on your own, you see ruins, but go in with someone who has spent their career in this material and the city comes to life. What made it exceptional wasn’t the big-ticket stops. It was the ordinary things: the ruts worn into the stone for shop doors, how the bakeries and street-food counters worked, where the water went. Elizabeth read all of it as evidence of how people actually lived. Details we’d have walked straight past turned into the most memorable part of the day. The private format mattered too. We could stop where we were curious, ask follow-up questions, and skip what didn’t hold us. No headsets, no crowd of forty. It felt like a conversation rather than a script. If you’re deciding between a group tour and this, book the archaeologist.
