Bad Weather, but Great Tour
Our guide Joana was terrific, and an amazing driver. We had a combination of English and Spanish speaking passengers, and Joana did a great job communicating with everyone. Make sure to pack /wear layers (we've went in late April, but everyone told us you can experience the same weather in August). As you head up the mountain the weather can change dramatically...it was 75F/22C and sunny in Funchal, but only 45F/7C with rain and fog by the time we started the Lavada walk). The Lavada walk was pretty but rainy, foggy and cold. The lunch place Joana stopped at was great (food and service were very good, we would recommend the beef skewers). Unfortunately, the fog was so bad we couldn't see Pico Do Aeerio (we stopped, but literally couldn't see the mountain) I would definitely recommend this tour, and our guide Joana.

Great way to see highlights of Madeira's Southwest and North Coast
A great way to see and experience the highlights of Madeira's Southwest and North coasts. Multiple stops at incredible vistas, a traditional market, the Fanal Forest, a north shore seaside town for lunch and an optional swim before two stops to view the North Shores highlights (rock formations and waterfalls) along with the famous black sand beach before heading back to Funchal. And our driver Dinarte filled the windshield time with many interesting facts about Madeira's people, the food, agriculture and small interesting facts. Gus small can is extremely comfortable for 8 guests - and very comfortable for the drive back to Funchal at the end of the day. We really enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it!

Wow factor with careful kind driver
Prompt pick up and safe careful driver to the summit. Josef was kind and careful with our 4 year old, offering her extra blankets in addition to the ones we brought and allowing us time to put in our car seat. He also provided her with some chocolate wafers which she devoured while waiting for the sunrise and a spare torch: so kind and patient. We loved the sunrise but it’s cold so take hat coat and scarf and blankets if you have We had a flask of coffee/tea to sip while you wait for the sun to come up. This is in January may not be needed in the summer. We had a wonderful time thanks again

Beautiful hike through nature
This December my wife and I traveled to Madeira for our honeymoon. We knew that we wanted to get out in nature, but weren’t sure what hike to start with. We had a pretty basic checklist. It had to include waterfalls, beautiful views, and be a distance that wouldn’t leave us sore for the rest of our trip. This hike checked all of those boxes and more. Our guide was knowledgeable and shared interesting history about the levadas throughout the hike. It was immediately obvious how much he cared about land and wildlife conservation. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hike to anyone who asks.
