There is generous food on the tour, so have an appetite. Our guide, Anna, was excellent. She provided interesting cultural highlights alongwith a varied selection of Madrira food and drink. She was also able to provide some gluten-free pions for gluten intolerance. I would highly recommend the tour.

Funchal food and drink tour

This was a truly engaging and interesting tour. Our guide Pedro was passionate and informative from the very start and really took the time to explain the history, the culture and the traditions of food and drink in Madeira. We were also blessed with the weather which made tasting and eating outside even more memorable. Finding local corners and restaurants tucked away in the backstreets of Funchal offering traditional specialities was a delight and I went back to many of them during the week to savour the delights. Having never done a tour before, I was really pleased and enjoyed every minute. The group of tourists on the tour was also friendly and lovely. Thank you Pedro, you are an asset to the tourism of Madeira. I would highly recommend.

Absolutely great! Easy to book and sort pick up and drop off. Really friendly driver and helpful whatsapp contact. The walks weren't too challenging and had absolutely spectacular views! It was chilly while watching the stunning sunrise, so definitely take layers!!

The Tour of the Nun’s Valley is well worth the visit. A lovely short drive to a spectacular view point overlooking the valley. The stop in the Nun’s valley was brief, but enough time for a coffee and to take in the view. The stop in Câmara de Lobos was also interesting to have a Poncha.

Monica was our guide. The day was fabulous from pick up to drop off. Everything was smoothly coordinated. In addition to the tastings, winery tours and lunch, we enjoyed riding along the backroads of Madeira. We saw beautiful coastline on the north-east side of the island and learned many facts about the island. It was a wonderful day!

A must do!

This is a must-do for any wine lover visiting the island! Manuel was our guide and absolutely wonderful! He got to our hotel early to pick us up and shared great knowledge about the area with us on the drive. We stopped in a cute fishing town to see Winston Churchill’s church and then at the highest cliff for some beautiful pictures of the island - both stops were well worth it! Then we headed to Barbusana for a quick vineyard tour (it was cold and muddy) with a small group before joining the host inside for the tasting. We had 3 reds, 1 rose, and 2 reds (all were delicious!) alongside a small meat and cheese tray. The host at the vineyard was incredibly knowledgeable on the vineyard and how they grow grapes in Portugal and it was great to learn from her. The highlight of the trip was Manuel - he was so fun and knowledgable. We would definitely book another trip with him when back in the area. Tips: bring 3 euros per person to visit the cliff and comfy shoes (that you don’t mind if they get dirty).

Great trip but not for the faint hearted!

This was a great trip but not for the faint hearted!! The off-road driving was fun but very bumpy and some of the on-road driving was pretty hair-raising too!! Having said that, we saw some lovely viewpoints and had the chance to stand up in the back of the jeep off-road. I enjoyed the wine tasting. We got to sample 6 wines (3 white, one rosé and two reds) and could refill our favourites. We had just the right amount of time there.

The calm of the valley

Beautiful visit to Nuns valley, this tour was great and showed a very calm part of the island away from Funchal, our guide was great and looked after us all, unfortunately two of the people who where on the tour where very late to meet us but our guide didn't hurry us at any of the viewpoints we went to so we could fully enjoy our tour, I apologise as I cannot remember my guides name but he was a fab driver and looked after us well ensuring we knew what we could see in each place we visited.

Nun’s valley the scenic view on 4 wheel drive, exhibiting experience

It’s a fantastic day out, our first introduction to Maderia, and Tiago our guide did it in style with a 4 wheel drive. So worth every moment, on the dirt track and on the beaten track, he shared local knowledge of agriculture, tourism and local knowledge. He’s a true gentleman, so accommodating, to our needs. Awesome tour with 4x4 and wine! How can you go wrong??

Must do this tour! The 4x4 was a nice touch to the wine tour and tasting. The ride getting to the winery was awesome and was truly an adventure with winding hills and very bumpy terrain through the mountains!! Once at the winery we went on a walking tour of the vineyards which was very interesting, then sampled white, red and rose!
